Someone commented on permanency of ascendency perfectly. If you are going to force us to have a 10-30 hour campaign depending on the player/twink gear. There is no way that a huge portion of the player base (especially casual) isn't going to experience massive burn out. Then force hour+ long trials as well. I understand not wanting to make changes that have both an upside and downside. However changes that have literally no downside is just stubborn. The only downside I can think of which is a long shot at best, is GGG being scared of less replayablity since you would have to level less characters. However I foresee it having the opposite effect by causing burnout and making the player quit prematurely.

Can't see any reason to come back for me after a month, maybe in the first league, but I guess I'll have a one year hiatus from PoE, which is completely insane because I've played all leagues since Ambush except 4. I feel they are lost in their own focus on making the players suffer, maybe the fun will come back one day when they have pulled their head out of the sand.

If this game chooses to focus on balancing the game around trading, it will fall off fast. The entire carrot on a stick of this game comes from exploring and hunting down the gear upgrades, instead of searching on a list for it. They need to go the route of Last Epoch with the option of SSF with targeted drop categories to work towards. Their system is absolutely excellent and feels fun and rewarding. PoE 2 feels far too opressive and bleak and everything centered around trading makes it a hard pass for me.

Apart from maybe 2 uniques they aren't anything to write home about. They feel like they are all Act 1 - 3 in the final release level uniques atm and a rare fits most slots by endgame. I still think they need to address / have some info on the gem scaling / DPS scaling with how mana costs ramp exponentially. and on the tier scaling - the tiering is just weird .... T1 on mods just makes sense. I have no context in game to know if i got a top roll or not anymore

When I played the division, what they did was you pick a perk that doesn't change, and then you use currency to reroll the rest .

Still, getting 1 unique in your build feels awful getting resistances AND a baseline of 100% rarity I have 117% rarity with a gold charm and i haven't dropped a divine in a week. Knowing that you can't drop divines with 0% rarity is awful game design. Rarity should absolutely be decoupled from currency drops 10000%

I keep saying this everywhere I go cus I want it to pick up, but I think the problem is seeing crafting and loot as opposite instead of making them work together. I think if you make 3-4 mod items really hard to craft but then make the 5th and 6th mod easier to target tags, that'd make all loot on the floor potential "unfinished items" which have the value of being picked up to be finished through crafting.

I am of the opinion that endgame pace wise there's simply two different camps for people, either a) people want to go zoom zoom quick like POE1 or b) people want it to be the same combat pace as it's campaign that resembles souls-like combat pacing. I personally propose that in the atlas skill tree there should be a notable skill that basically reduce monster pack size but for every monster reduce down to 1 or 2 monster, increase the rare monster damage, defence and others but also reduce action, cast and attack speed, so it resemble a mini-boss. This will let people who enjoy slower pace of combat to make it more interesting to fight lots of 1v1 with strong monsters back to back, or almost like fighting lots of mini-bosses 1v1 back to back but all in a single map.

There is a unique armor that grants elemental resistance per socketed rune or soul core; chaos resistance is not included, but a ring with all elemental resistances also grants chaos resistance.

Chaos resistance is not classified as an element. So no "to all elemental resistances" on rings or anything else does not give you chaos resistance. And if it does it would be a bug.

The tier mod thing feels like game designer ocd triumphing over play experience. They've said some times that "it doesn't make sense that in gear mods t1 is highest, but in other things like maps, t1 is lowest" and the change to the item tiers always read to me as trying to make that consistent. But the thing is that was never confusing for anyone on poe 1, and it's not like new players are gonna look at mod tiers... this just seems like trying to make copascetic systems instead of actually looking at what it feels like to play the game...

Rarity is not a problem. Is it better than zero MF.. yes it is. Should it be... yes it should. 3) I really really hate on death effects. GGG needs to drop this concept and move forward. Lets just run with the assumption that on deaths effects haven't been created at this point in the POE saga... its a future problem for POE 1 to deal with. Again, great clip.

Do. Not. Add. A. Crafting. Bench. PLEASE. I understand not everyone wants to play ruthless, but something ruthless in POE 1 gets done VERY well is loot. The currency itself needs to change. Ruthless crafting works because the currency is very good. When I hit something with a chaos orb it fully re rolls it, and that’s exciting. Chaos orbs in Poe 2 are useless for most people. Just make currencies 1 to 1 with poe 1 those currencies worked just fine. Keep omens as the deterministic meta craft option and make them a bit more common, 60% is probably not enough.

Your old characters won't be deleted but will be returned to a parent league where you can keep playing them :) people can opt into the new league which will be fresh

Can't agree about ground loot. I've made A LOT of my currency from picking right bases from ground, id it and sometimes slam, then sell on TRADE. If you add not even bench but just one small thing like alterations it's gonna straight kill a lot of competitiveness for ground loot, coz a lot of ppl would sit in their ho and spam alts for +level an amy, big mana or anything %currentmeta% decreasing it's value on market. Honestly I rly like new additive system, they should add more possibilities ofc, they already buff omens but it's still meh. I think every item is being a little gamba is fine, coz it's fair gamba for almost every player. Everybody have regal and spare ex or even great essence for slam "worth looking" rare they just picked up. But not everybody would have dozens of divs for bench and constant metacrafting. Gating craft behind tons of currency is bad imo, making huge gaps within playerbase.

Ascendancy swap - i agree, i like it that its an important decision, and should be permanent. BUT - this is EA, its not full release. We are supposed to playtest the game. Game is unbalanced, constantly changing, full of bugs etc. Cant imagine playing a class till like 90+, liking it, and then a hotfix comes that guts the build, now youre stuck with the class, and it has nothing good going for it, being stuck with that. Allow it for EA at least.

FFS, death already matters. At this point it's just punishment with no point to it. You lose your map, loot on the ground, and xp, and if you are doing the campaign, all the mobs respawn. You know why World of Warcraft was so popular? Because it smoothed out rough edges of Everquest and it's ilk, rough edges like losing XP on death. Guess what? Death still sucked in WoW, it just wasn't soul crushing. This fascination with Diablo 2 has to end at some point. There's already a game like D2, its called D2! /rant over

Crafting in both poe1 and poe2 are the same thing, poe1 crafting far more determenistic but it still feels like gambling: Use 'X' item on 'Y' item until you get 'Z' mod. And what i've heard on podcast made me sad, because not only they dont want to create new cool crafting systems like Last Epoch have, but they dont even think there is a problem with crafting. Idk man... that makes me pessimistic about future of the game.

The sad thing is PoE's crafting puts every other ARPG to shame but they've somehow reverted to this system that is more simplistic than PoE in 2012
