A couple of things regarding early skill link setup. Attack speed also affects your reload speed, using Martial Tempo on a skill with a longer reload time is better. Shockburst rounds already has high base attack and reload speed so Concentrated Effect + Heft give a far higher damage output. Using Lightning Infusion in High Velocity rounds you will see a huge difference in the consistency of applying shock to bosses. Ideal early links are: Galvanic - Martial Tempo, Lightning Infusion (Primal Armament instead when you get level 2 support gems), (Fork next link). Shockburst Rounds - Concentrated Effect, Heft, (Elemental Focus next link). High Velocity Rounds - Scattershot, Lightning Infusion (Swap it in for bosses), (Double Barrel next link or Conduction if you aren't shocking in one hit). You can also use Voltaic Mark skill for more shock chance and magnitude on bosses. Side note for sweats, % Physical Damage runes are best in your weapon. Jewels in the passive tree are absolutely massive if you get a good one, they are always worth picking up if you are very close to one. Any of the following stats are good (kind of in order): Attack Speed / Attack Speed with Crossbows, Damage with Crossbows, Attack Damage, Projectile Damage, Shock Magnitude, Shock Duration, Shock Chance.

@TiommQQ Yes definitely, although moreso when you are on 4 and 5 links. Lightning Infusion will in most cases be our highest damage support, followed by Primal Armament. I'd suggest trying something like: Galvanic - Martial Tempo, Lightning Infusion, Primal Armament, Fork. Shock burst - Concentrated Effect, Elemental Focus, Heft, Lightning Infusion. High Velocity - Scatter shot, Double Barrel, Primal Armament, Conductivity. You'll only see minor benefits as Witchunter already has decent alternatives to use. You could probably get some decent power / utility from playing around with multiple support gems in whatever Herald / Buff skills you decide to use.

JUST FYI, something a lot of people seem to misunderstand is that attack speed and or skill speed not only increases your rate of fire with Crossbows but also increases reload speed. I was easily able to get my reload to .29 fairly early while leveling which felt so good.

@@Nobby-Nobblerif you go to engrave the support gem, it is, by default, limited to “recommended” gems for each skill. If on MnK, uncheck the “recommended gems” and if on controller, swap tabs over to strength, dex, and int gem tabs to see all the different support gems

What I hardly---if ever---see mentioned in build videos is when initially picking the character, it asks for which "Class Variant" to choose...which one should I pick for the Merc for this build setup? Options are: Ammunition / Elemental Rounds / Versatile Range

Deze build is echt geweldig. Was grenades echt een beetje zat. P.S. Shockburst Rounds are available around level 41 (Act 3) and you need a lv. XI Uncut Skill Gem to unlock it. But this build wrecks everything even before you obtain SBR.

what i think at the moment is that people make way too infrequent use of the weapon swap system. while you can of course start of with a crossbow you could also do the early levels with a bow and lightning arrow/lightning rods and also use some bow skills later for an easy shock into shockburst rounds. Crossbows in the early game are sadly very lackluster because of the reload mechanic if you do not want to go the grenade route. Even in POE 1 we used completly different skills for the early game (stuff like fire trap comes to mind) just because they where SO strong in the early game. The cool thing is that the skill tree still works since we want to skill into lightning damage and projectiles and so on, so once galvanic shards and shockburst rounds get available the swap is super simple. After that you can also make use of the weapon swap skill points to optimize the bow attacks for alligment generation for easier shock and the crossbow for damage. - This would be the easiest route especially if you start without gear and currency i think.

One thing. Gas grenades is level 5, so galvanic shards would be your SECOND lvl 5 gem if going in your order recommended

You can change but it will cost gold and can be quite a lot if you change the skill tree a lot and not farmed a lot yet. Also changing armour, runes and weapons specifically for that damage type can be tricky and expensive depending on your luck. In the end it’s all about how much you play… if you do a lot, not a huge deal but if you’re short on time it can be tricky

You can change your skill points at the cost of gold, and swap gear based off that, with as Berniz said a various amount of difficulty doing it (as you need to get the gear you're swapping to). You CANNOT change your ascension though. You can change the points in it, but you can't change the big choice. That's always an important thing to keep in mind.

I am lvl50 right now and cant get vosses shocked with high velocity rounds and a xbow that adds 3-40 lightning damage. Cant progress because I am missing lvl13 gems for the ray cannon

Get a cheap bow and get the lightning arrow skill, or whatever the name of the skill that has 800% chance to shock from the bow. Then when fighting bosses or elites just swap to the bow to apply the arrow which will apply shock and then swap back and use your crossbow.

Sorry but how are you running around with a lvl 41 skill at level 15-20? Shockburst rounds require level 41 and level 11 skill gems. And why is noone else mentioning this like it isn't obvious? What confuses me about most of these videos online is how everybody who talks about early game and leveling just shows these anomalies and when I try it in my game it just doesn't translate to anything close to what's happening in the videos. Same with herald of lightning. Everybody says you should take it, but when I run it with galvanic shards and all the lightning damage I can find and all the support gems mentioned, it never procs nearly as often as in these videos.

+X Level to Skills can roll on your gear and he seems to have that Once you have hit endgame u have Level 3 Support gems and low Gemsocket boost orbs which means you just have not copied the build exactly and that is what lowers your damage

@@EricGyroid Levels to skills only works on skills you already have. As RoadRunner said, you cannot get the skill gems (And thus the skills) until MUCH later in the game, so them being mentioned as "early game" is wrong...

Highly suggest adding a bow in the offhand and using lightning rod before spraying galv shards on packs. It’s extremely low investment and ups your dmg tremendously to where galv shards can be your boss killer. Been using it since like lvl 4 and night and day difference in elites and bosses

instead of this, i'd highly suggest using Glacial Bolt instead. those ice crystals also act like anchor and chain your galvanic shard. and when the ice crystal explode, you get a nice icy explosions that can freeze the boss/rare too.

@@bufosp You can't get this skill until the end of Act 2 at the earliest (Level 7 skill) so Oonz comment is useful for early builds - Glacial will only work from end of Act 2 onwards.

If you want even more damage, adding herald of ash to give you explosions on overkill further deletes mobs.
