It's not pure power creep; lots of short term buffs (Berserk, melee totems, Divine Blessing) got gutted. I feel they are aiming to mimic the power level of 3.24 Ice Shot (which was good, just not played much because Lightning Arrow was better) on a lot more builds.

I think it's more of just getting melee on par with the rest. Melee by right should do at least twice as much damage as range or spells. That's how it should work in every game.

For melee ignite meme shenanigans, glacial hammer of shattering. Guaranteed crit every third attack with no crit investment. Although requires cold to fire conversion or cold can ignite. Replica Atziri's Acuity can also grant you the keystone on crit. As long as you have ignite prolif there shouldn't be an issue with it being a strike skill. Alternatively plume of persuit wave of conviction. Only 1 WoC can be active at the time and as long as you have spell echo its a guaranteed crit.

Ungil's Harmony is also a good early game option to cap crit for Perfect Agony setups. There's also Hyrri's Truth for bow builds as a halfway option if crit capping is tough with Marylene's. We also have a prismatic anoint that allows pathfinder to inflict grasping vines, so inextricable fate is now mapping viable for all damage can poison. I think all of these setups can be combined into some bow poison build like Artillery Ballista.

An impossible escape on Acrobatics does hit Perfect Agony, does hit the projectile cluster, does hit the three small suppression nodes but you juuust miss the large inveterate notable. Still a decent spot but missing inveterate itself is a bit of a bummer.

What do you think of combining it with Ynda's Stand, the new unique belt from Settlers of Kalguur? I'm uncertain on how the effect works, whether you lose all of the Armour and Evasion from your body armour or just half of it. Either way, I imagine it would be a tough ask to give up so much base defenses on an Armour stacking build, especially with base Armour and Evasion being less accessible from auras.

7:56 I just tested it on Pob, and yes, you can reach perfect agony from an impossible escape variant centered at acrobatic. As for the suppress nodes, you can't get inveterate, but the 3 small supp nodes are reachable.

The critical strikes do not deal extra damage line on perfect agony is the same as in Ungil's Harmony, which sets crit multiplier to 100% (on PoB anyway). Does the conversion to over time multiplier still happen with higher values?

Now that you mentioned it, since this new archetype (crit bleed) has entered the chat... Making a character function around power charge stacking as a Gladiator (stealing the Frenzy Charge = endurance charge node) using Badge of the Brotherhood (scales elusive) and then you get a free source of huge crit multi from nightblade, huge elusive, huge ele mitigation from endurance charges, so tons of defenses essentially for free, then on top of that 50% block from gladiator when using Malachai's Loop to override it's low block chance. The build basically has everything covered and layered defenses just from building power charges.

I'm curious, since the crushed debuff is reducing PDR is it possible to "overcap" in the same way as elemental resistances? If this is the case then stacking sources of additional PDR on top of high armour could potentially negate the reduction from the crushed debuff. Even if the above is true, you'll still have zero PDR against those Ultimatum and Expedition modifiers.

Hey guys, I'm curious about pefrect agony. I've tried to throw together a PoB, but I don't understand how to get to 100% crit chance on a pathfinder. I have selected darkscorn, replica atziri's acuity, active diamond flask, quiver with crit chance, and most nearby crit nodes. POB shows that my crit chance is 79%. What am I missing?

prior to the chieftain rework, staff tectonic slam chieftain builds used an eventuality rod as the high-end weapon base. i have played that build myself, but never got to the point of using an eventuality rod (instead i used a maelstrom staff and crafted 'hits cannot be evaded' with decent phys rolls).

Crit bleed might also be a thing with PA now, since rupture comes with a support gem and bleed builds typically don't get a ton of damage multi. A funny interaction would be with cleave: both weapon roll crit separately and if either crits, the combine final hit counts as a crit (and thus can inflict ailment with new PA, meaning you effectively get lucky crits). Once you get your crit figured out, you can pivot to some other skills, although with Varunastra/Weapon Master node, it might be somewhat easy...

I feel like the new Perfect Agony doesn't actually need 100% crit chance for anything but poison. Non-CD bleeds or any ignite would also work great with it, in theory. I haven't actually put any PoBs together though (yet).

It's not that you optimize for stun, it's just VGS does a lot of damage and has the stun duration rider. It will stun a lot whether you are expecting it to or not

Played a tanky Flicker Trickster last league. Didn't use totems. Gonna have way more ES (was ephemeral edge, so that's more damage, too), and have the nearly double damage from Flicker Strike gem buffs without the totem nerf, since I didn't use them anyways. On top of that Rage is gonna be insane. Didn't lose Perandus like I thought it would. Just a big win all around. Still wanna try other builds first and, besides that; would rather just play it after I get Mageblood (does work without it, though). But I'm looking forward to seeing how that feels now.

@@lissowaty watch?v=oLQYA35wZJ4 My version was slightly different, but this version played very similarly. You can also do the Doryani's prototype version but it's more expensive. Last league it wasn't as good imo, but next league with Kalandra mists back it'll probably be superior thanks to -lightning res rings. Big thing you can do with the version I linked is: If you don't wanna use Mageblood, Darkness Enthroned is your swap. Then, of course, just figure out how you wanna do flasks and stuff. I did run it without Mageblood, obviously not *as* strong, but still good. And with Flicker being 2x damage this league you can sacrifice some damage for tank easily. This version uses totems, but I *did not use them* . Also keep in mind there's probably some better ways to path on the passive tree now, with new rage nodes, new mana nodes, etc. But all in all, this should give you an idea of how it can be played. Protip: use poe ninja next league and look for Flicker Strike builds running Ephemeral Edge. From there you can turn on or off Mageblood if you do or don't have it, on or off Doryani's if you wanna run that variant, etc. PoE account name is Raijoh. Feel free to message whatever character I make for the league if you have questions then, just can't promise I'll have answers :^) I've only ever successfully created 1 build, and made alterations to 5 or 6. So I'm no pro, just a decent intermediate.

"Day after patch notes" sounds like waking up with regrets, friend once told me. One thing in many spells is the scaling. Like level 1 starts from 50% and gets to 100% at 20, while earlier having 100% at all gem levels. Doesn't that imply that level 21 will have now higher scaling than before? That feels like big buff to gem levels on nearly all spells. I don't see people talking about this. I noticed how essence drain got buffed, I wonder if that makes a silent comeback. Only notable in a sense that it used to be big meta.

The most interesting part is "previously 200% at all gem levels" because it now says "scaling up to 200% at gem level 20". This implies that before at gem level 21 the value would have been 200% but now it would be 202% at gem level 21.

If they were going to adjust the values for those upper levels i think they would have stated so. it also goes against my impression of the spirit of many of these spell changes which is to reduce the leveling power of these spells while not affecting the late/endgame.

It's really only relevant for deep delve and similar stuff. A 100m DoT DPS will feel MUCH smoother than a "DoT capped" one. For one thing, you're probably ticking some box that has worse uptime than the 100% you're giving it credit for. And most enemies that don't delete if you even just have 3m DPS probably have have some sort of damage reduction. I REALLY REALLY wish PoB would have a better indication for this.

Dang, I thought WC's looked pretty neat, at least for chieftain. Chieftain can get infinite power alongside 30% buff effect. Two easily accessible wheels gives you a total of 95% duration and 105% WC buff effect overall. With the new more duration support, you can get WC buffs to last longer than their CD on a chieftain and constantly at their max power with 105% buff effect for one ascendancy node and little tree interaction. Enduring cry is the real standout, as it will give you 20% max hp regen every second alongside max endurance charges. However, the other WC's start to look good: Intim cry: 36% move speed, Rallying cry: 36% main hand weapon damage as added damage, infern cry: 50% of phys as extra fire damage, ancestral: +6 max res and +60 all res, seismic: 50% more amror(i can see this being very good like enduring tbh)

The Perfect Agony change probably makes Ignite Assassin viable. You don't even need any chance to ignite, or any dot multiplier. That's going to free up quite a bit of passive points for whatever else you want to do. The Acrobatics Impossible Escape might just make Perfect Agony ignite Inquisitor a thing too. Of course, you can always try for a Skin of the Lords, or use Replica Atziri's Acuity. That actually gets me wondering if there's a good Perfect Agony bleed build. Getting Gladiator to 100% crit chance wouldn't be as easy as Inquisitor, Occultist, or Assassin, but it's certainly not impossible. It's definitely easier now with daggers giving you 20% more critical strike chance. I think either version of Dual Strike would be decent, or maybe the transfigured Puncture, which they didn't give us any info on lol. This would also let you take big advantage of Rupture support. Replica Atziri's Acuity is a pretty easy item to fit into the build, with only a 100 Strength requirement, and it gives you a big chunk of intelligence, with decent life, armor and a nice global crit chance affix too. I was already planning on doing bleed gladiator, but I was going to go the earthquake or Perforate route with Autoexertion shenanigans. Maybe Perfect Agony would be something to change into if it's actually more DPS.

What about Power Siphon? The more multiplier to the crit chance should be good enough with like 4/5 power charges, at that point you're basically crit capped. Also, worth noting, even if those have really low base DMG, the new wands work kinda perfectly with this considering the new crit.

My main concern is how they scale melee now. " effectiveness of added damage " has never been emphasized in previous notes . Like up to 600 percent at level 20 isn't a math equation or maybe I missed something. my understanding is that is have a exact number it raises each level. Not sure that will still work - it's not OG recombinators, it's something new. That mod is only 50% now - so if it does work, it's fine, but not as busted as it was. Now... recombinating the overcapped cold and overcapped fire mods onto a top tier evasion chest... that's something else. If it can be done.

Power siphon poison could be good with perfect agony. It got buffed attack speed now, easily crit caps thru power charges, wands had their base crit buffed as well. And you can pick up wand crit nodes over the usual poison nodes instead for scaling on the tree.

It is already available since yesterday in PoB if you opt for the beta version. Although I need to caution that if you gonna use because everything is in the right location but may not be in the *Exact* location. For example jewels like "Impossible Escape" and "thread of hope" could put the wrong nodes in.

Marlene's fallacy or whatever its called, is gonna be a bis amulet for hexblast from now on, at any stage of the game. Reducing crit was already fine, but now we'll have more crit remaining, so maybe we pick more crit multi on the tree instead of crit chance.

Does new Perfect Agony will count final explosion as crit and allow ignite for all 20 arrows to apply, or just 1 arrow that did crit?

DOT multi for ailments is still live for non-crit ailment builds.

Actually bleed is the best application for Perfect agony since bleed duration is sufficiently long for you to get in 3-4 attacks in one bleed duration, and only one needs to be a crit so you circumvent the crit cap "requirement"

That's a solid point, if you can survive trash. Maybe you hit hard enough that your non-criticals still one-shot white monsters so you don't get completely overwhelmed.

@@sirgog Melee bleed builds hit hard enough for leech and fortify to be efficient, white and blue monsters are a non issue for the hit portion. The bleed is there for rares and that's it.

Viper Strike of the Mamba after Ambush would probably deal more damage, and with Bino's Kitchen knife you could clear packs easily. You still need some crit investment but this could work nicely.

stacking crit multi with ambush/elusive is pretty strong with poison assassin now (~1200% DoT multi)
