His pen name Edogawa Ranpo is a pun on Edgar Allan Poe, whom he admired.[26] This admiration is inverted in the series. He spends his leisure time these days by going to Poe's house, eating some candy, and going home.(he fucking goes to Poe’s house to chill, I love that)

A lot of the admiration are reversed in the manga/anime from real life! I think it's super cool. (TW for suicide talk ahead) For example, Dazai looked up to Akutagawa, and his death inspired Dazai to up his suicide attempts. (SPOILER WARNING AHEAD) That being said, they do keep a lot of things in the manga from real life. For example, Dazai was very close with Oda and when Oda died, Dazai wrote an obituary and also blames critics for his death. Since that is the case, I thibk it would be interesting if, after Dazai discovers that Akutagawa has been killed/vampirized, he would become more careless with his life. Im not saying I want Dazai to die, but I think the parallels would be interesting.
