In POE2, the narrator talks about corruption that started 3000 years ago. Perhaps this refers to events that involve the celestial beings and the birth of innocence and sin. Interesting also that innocence wants to go to the south and sin mentions of asking for forgiveness in the ice at the bottom of the world. In a later dialogue, innocence says he will remain in the south - a place of ice and ash ( possible link to the ring that covers enemy in ash vs frost? - it also happens to be called 'polaric' devastation)

I think the zana arc to destroy the atlas(if that ever happens) will be a way to revamp the entire endgame systems for poe 2 as said on exilecon that they want to scale down the scope of the story and make the player more human than god-like again.

I think you're likely on the right track, especially since Chris Wilson is a fan of Magic the Gathering. I could see him taking inspiration from The Great Mending storyline that was used to scale down the god-like powers of Planeswalkers in that game's lore.

Another thing that adds to the idea that the Eldritch Champions are definitely somehow tied to Wraeclast is The Black Star shares a few similarities with Solaris and Lunaris. I do think Innocence and Sin are connected in some way, as Sin and The Beast have parallels with the Entities and how they were put to "Sleep" The Envoys line, "The veil of constancy drew all beneath its shadow into a steady sleep bereft of the petty squabbles that hemmed the time before time." Clearly implies that the Entities clashed before time existed and either The Lightkeeper or Progenitor or both sealed the Entities away.

You've mentioned that you've never heard of Innocence being called The Lord of Light, but look at Templar's quotes that GGG added in 3.16. First level up to 15: "Your trust is the only reward I need, my Lord of Light." Added in 3.16: Encounter with Brine King: "Lord of Light, hold back the sea, so that I may slay its pretender king!" Entering Canals, before fighting with A10 Kitava: "I knew that you would find the path of righteousness once more, my Lord of Light. I shall be honoured to fight by your side!" Defeating Innocence or falling to A5 Kitava, can't remember: "Has my faith truly been a lie? My God, an impostor, too weak to defeat the Ravenous One..." Maybe one of possible events could be that first Templar mistaken Innocence to something else...

Now that we know that the atlas can be fought for by eldritch beings vying for control, it is possible to suggest that the Tangle and Cleansing Flame did try to fight the Decay for it in the past before the elder was imprisioned, and just their mere conflict had rippling effects on to Wraeclast. Dawnbreaker's bigger surprise to me is it suggests that the atlas was active and being explored at that time where previously I didn't think the templar did anything with the atlas until Venarius. If people were exploring the atlas for a very long time then it may be that each of the 'gods' we fight could have been like Sirus, having attained godlike power with a projection they merged with. It may not be that the searing exarch based itself off of Innocence but rather the other way around and that Innocence attained his godhood using items retrieved from beings related to the Searing Flame.

I actually think that The Envoy is much more than he pretends to be. He knows too much, and his story doesn’t add up. He’s hiding something, and I suspect he is more than he appears to be. Perhaps, he is a being above both the Progenitor and the Lightkeeper.

Sin symbol: downward means toward humanity Innocence's symbol : upward means godhood Searing exarch : eldritchhood He could be their father since they were born gods and did not reach godhood through their lives. But it still makes me wonder, as any wreaclast god ever gone into the atlas? Is human-god-eldritch the only way to ascend? After all we kill kitava (god) and became maven's champion (eldritch). If not for the progenitor's champion, the envoy, we would have killed her.

One thing I don't quite get. From what I understand, the Atlas was created by... Valdo? Was his name? He used the map device to create it, in order to imprison the Elder. So where did these other entities gain entry from, and where were they before? Were they in a similar place as the elder?

The elder is the originator of the atlas! His dreamlands are the “nexus” that shaper (Valdo) eventually took over. The atlas itself is kind of a place, but also more of a map or entry point into memories or recreations of places? What Valdo created was the cosmic arcana which was more of a bauble to contain the Elder

They are not exactly what I had in my mind when I posted the following in the forum but I like them :D "Since they are coming and I'm totally hyped who they actually might be, I have some ideas of them just to prevent a GOT2.0 where they're are coming for 7 leagues and than arrive and get killed within 1 day. I'll also refer to THEM as a race of Others. We already got the Elder (Codename: Devourer) and the Maven (Codename: Child). So the thing is, that the Elder actually dosen't live anymore sowe can cross him out. If the story wants to progress Maven has to get some story weight while either siding with us (falling in love with our slaying and training us to get stronger so THEY won't take over our world - atlas points) or standing against us (trying to kill us but always failing and leaving some of her power behind for us to gather - Atlas points). After finishing the first Maven fight (like actual encounter Maven but maybe a weaker fight just for the story) THEY are arriving. Not all at once, but maybe one or 2 per league. And here, THEY are: The Wayfarer (Codename: Protector) He/She sides with the Exile because there are some of THEM that actually love the lesser "creatures". If the Wayfarer gives us any additional gimmicks like atlas points or just shows up in maps to help us with unique Others-buffs or something completely different if up to you. The Ferryman (Codename: Porter) He sides with the Others and has the ability to create portals to invide Otherlings (small spawns from the Other realms). He's collecting energy from the old gods and even the beast to create a large portal that the Others could use to finally invade Wraeclast. Dosen'T matter if we kill him because his death would bring up enough energy to activate the portal but Zana and some others will redirect the portal to open at different locations within the atlas. The Orge (Codename: Butcher) One of the evil Others. First one to cross the portal. Goes on a rampage and will sometimes show up in maps if certain conditions are met. He drops some usefull currency and unique items. The Queen (Codename: Mother) One of the oldest Others. She wants to either protect or cleanse the world. Not sure about her motives yet. Tell me if you have any ideas. The Sage (Codename: Prophet) He is like the Envoy but you'll actually face him. He had the idea to conquer other realms because the Others are the Apex of creation and other lifeforms just exist to feed them. The One (Codename: Origin) The oldest and first of the Others. He's the strongest of them all and the final enemy. His motives aren't visible yet but he's able to create Others without any problems."

Since it wasn't brought up in this video, I'll bring it up here. When the Envoy mentions having encountered "a bastion of flesh that towered above, smothering the stars (which matches the "Melding of the Flesh" unique jewel's flavor text about 'rising into the living sky')", and how he and those he led got absorbed into it, that most likely was his encounter with the Tangle. Which invites the question of how he managed to get out. Based on his other stories, odds are he was pulled out of the Tangle by someone/something else - e.g. the Lightkeeper pulled him out and gave him his assignment/punishment of being the Maven's guardian/caretaker. That or he managed to get out on his own before then being given his "punishment". Dunno if it means much in the long run, but it's something I remembered from the 'Echoes of the Atlas' lore vid.

I have a theory which I feel is kind of obvious but maybe only because I'm also into mtg and comics. The atlas is obviously a representation of the multiverse. It seems possible that these eldritch beings could be other iterations of Sin and Innocence, or even the seed by which each iteration, our Sin and Innocence being some of them, are reflections of or grew from. I've always thought of the other conquerors and rogue exiles in the atlas as being versions of me. Further theory: if we take our past exploits before the new version of the story takes effect as canon, we can also theorize that those things did happen and were not retconned. This seems obvious, because they attributed to another exile, but if I really think about it, if Kitava was already destroyed, there would be no reason to do it again. So maybe, the new eldritch beings are just other versions of Sin and Innocence from another reality that got really powerful and the silence allowed these beings to come across.

pointing that out right after Zana's leaving into the atlas? might be The Atlas got inspired by fears of Zana, wondering between the realms, and created these Searing Exarch and Eater of Worlds. As if The Atlas itself reacted to Zana's presence and created these abominations as embodiments of her own nature: Eater of Worlds for her fear of neverstopping danger coming from atlas and Searing Exarch for her humanity(Sin part) and arrogance, righteousness(Innocense part). Arrogance in her vision of silently deciding to sacrifice exiles sanity if needed, as she did with Veritania, Drox, Al-Hezmin, Baran and Sirus, because it is for the right cause. Those Exiles became their desires but suppose Zana did not became something like that in four splitted beings. If take Sin and Innocense symbols as eyes, i can see how Sins symbol represent an open eye of humanity - unordered routine, egocentric, grief, curiosity, possibility to experiment, learn things and make mistakes, leaving a trail of grease and dust. Innocence symbol as a crossed eye - closed eye, which do not desire to look upon trembling sinners, granting ordering fire, purging away all in which there is no curiosity for him. Exarch seems to have both symbols, both eyes. What is it in his hand? A Lantern? He's looking for sane people like Diogenes. To purge them and suffice curiosity in the process, while they wither to ashes, leaving a trail of scorched expanse. The Black Star looks like a mess merged Atziri + Solaris + Lunaris, something vaalish and that duality of divine creatures. Maybe she represents Zana's phantasms about ascending to divinity and become a god on her own, reflecting her knowledge about existing gods and recent Oriath cataclysms. Infinite Hunger as a minor phantasm could be just a walking obsession nature mind corrupting obsessive and disgusting thoughts. Even most innocent thing or thought may be percieved as "disgusting" by someone. Maybe Zana observed how numerous exiles strived for power and was disgusted by that selfishness, compare her own to them on and on, and one day - a tangle of hesitation slithered in her mind. Maybe, for a moment, she found herself wanting to seek a power too. Since than that thought grew, she tried to fight an urge go mapping too and this desire defeated her so she left. Where is Conquerors Watchstone Atlas Altars? Zana may did unplug them and destroy.. or use them to create some devious machine to turn The Atlas inside out so it would reflect and absorb its own mirroring presence till annihilation.

My understanding is that, in the Uber Elder fight, Shaper/Valdo dies. However, he is now part of the Maven’s collection, retained as a “toy.” We also know that there are multiple timelines, as explored in Scourge… so Shaper being alive in another timeline is possible.

Originally I was going: "Why in the all Nine Hells would we work with Maven". But GGG did it. She was training us for a year and now we fight first 2 minions of the Great Eldrich Horrors. And the Best thing about it - with new Atlas and new pair of bosses - Path of Exile opens itself to a lot of new possibilities. Which is great.

Longtime viewer, first time commenter. What do you make of the Crystal Omniscience amulet flavor text in specific? "That winter, scorched refugees emerged from the shrine" seems pretty specific. Like REALLY specific. What winter? what shrine? And if you look at it the symbol is the Innocence symbol. thanks love your channel!

Re: the new unique at 14:04 , One reason why there might be that flavour text on that unique is that the followers of innocence were previously afraid of the Searing Exarch, but Innocence fought it off, (or opposed it in some other way) and gave his followers tools to do the same. EDIT: at 15:35 you say "...we have never heard Innocence be called the Lord of light" . You obviously don't play Templar class very much, as he's ALWAYS calling him that. EDIT2: at 18:05 the text displayed on screen, underlined strongly implies that, outside of Sin's own testimony, Innocence was once human. Also the text on screen shows that Sin retained his humanity, (he had some to begin with, he was human). They also refer to each other as Brother while conversing, and even in Innocence's own propaganda, he never neglected to call Sin his brother.

At this point I ab prone to interpret the Maven's words "...This puppet stands on string unseen..." in a way that gives me a headcanon that might be a tad cheesy but still kinda fits. The Witch has a few animations in which her movements look like a puppet on strings, considering that she is likely connected to a being that enables her to wield her powers this kinda fits the description. The cheesy part, I believe that the entity she is connected with is the player, serving as a puppeteer. Maybe this even explains why the other eldritch horrors do not pay our exiles any attention... they are not the one confronting them. We are.

This is some amazing exposition of the new lore and i do enjoy a good lore discussion! And i do wonder how the Searing Exarch is related to the gods of wraeclast, its gonna be interesting for sure. Not to mention how Zana will come back in the future, couse its without a doubt she will somehow and with a bang! I lean more towards Sin/Inn being related to/fathered by Searing Exarch, and Sin’s differences, his negative traits, being 1) different than the virtue/fire of Innocence and the Searing Exarch and 2) being compared to the Tangle (like his depravity is on the level of that cosmic horror), are described by the Templars and Innocence in terms given to them by the words of the Searing Exarch, to Innocence (or his mother, who took on his “values”)

I think so! Especially since the Envoy has to stop us before we do actual harm to the Maven, and the Maven can collect map bosses and conquerors and who knows what else as her “toys.” She’s got a bigger range and more terrifying powers.

Is there any connection between the Tangle and Kitava? They seem to share a similar theme of hunger and that might not be entirely a coincidence. Also isn't Kitava opposed to Innocence just like the Tangle is opposed to the Cleansing Fire? It's been a while since I brushed up on the lore of this game so I'm not entirely sure.

No, Kitava's beef is with the Karui gods. The Templar just happened to be conveniently available to eat where he got resurrected.

The theme of Hunger is certainly more applicable to Kitava, but I wouldn’t say Kitava is part of a duality with Innocence. He’s more of a shared obstacle, for both Sin and Innocence (and everyone really), and what he consumes is just eaten, not transformed into part of him
