Poems Of Enheduanna - Ancient Sumerian Priestess And First Recorded Poet In History. Enheduanna, also known as En-hedu-ana or Enheduana, is widely regarded as the world's first known author and poet, as well as one of the earliest recorded female figures in history. She lived in ancient Mesopotamia during the 23rd century BCE and held the esteemed position of high priestess in the city of Ur, which was a thriving center of Sumerian civilization. Enheduanna's literary works and religious contributions have left an indelible mark on the cultural and literary landscape of ancient Mesopotamia. Enheduanna was born in the city of Ur, located in what is now southern Iraq, around 2285 BCE. She was the daughter of King Sargon of Akkad, who established the Akkadian Empire, and Queen Tashlultum. Being born into a royal family, Enheduanna enjoyed a privileged upbringing and received an exceptional education in literature, religion, and politics. At a young age, Enheduanna's intelligence, eloquence, and spiritual devotion were recognized, leading to her appointment as the high priestess of the moon god Nanna at the renowned temple in Ur. This position bestowed upon her significant religious authority and influence within the society, making her a powerful figure in both the political and spiritual realms. Enheduanna's most significant contributions are her literary works, which include a collection of hymns, poems, and prayers dedicated to various deities. These compositions were written in the Sumerian language, the oldest known written language in human history. Through her writings, Enheduanna expressed her deep reverence for the gods and sought to establish a personal connection between the divine and humanity. One of Enheduanna's most renowned works is "The Exaltation of Inanna," a composition that pays homage to the goddess Inanna, the Sumerian deity of love, beauty, fertility, and war. In this epic poem, Enheduanna beautifully portrays the multifaceted nature of Inanna and her significance in the pantheon of gods. Her lyrical verses and vivid imagery have captivated readers throughout the centuries. Enheduanna's writings were not only expressions of religious devotion but also political tools. She used her literary skills to reinforce the legitimacy of her father's reign and to assert her own authority as a high priestess. Her works were widely circulated and revered, ensuring her enduring legacy as a gifted poet and scholar.

@@personalaccount2169 technically yes, Both Akkadian and Sumerian powers were culture hubs but Akkadia was more advanced militarily than culturally but their art became with time more advanced than the sumrain. Although she written them in Sumrain she was Akkadian the daughter of sargon the great the first emperor known in history. check The Morgan Library & Museum they made 2 great enjoyable lectures about her and other stuff from ancient Mesopotamia.

It is not like Americans and Canadians. Sumerians had different language witch had no connection to Semitic group of languages witch Akkadian belong to. Sumerians were quite isolated in terms of culture and language in that region although they strongly influenced almost every culture around them.

Listen from 18 mins on when they get to talking about the holy mountain. They are talking about the great pyramid ... everytime they mention enkis house, or a shrine or a great temple or mountain, pure house, its the great pyramid. These people were in awe just a few hundred years after it was built people have been mystified by it since the generation who built it died.

@@AltrusianGraceMedia Can I show you something, @5:29 where it speaks about her hand holding the 7 mes, this already starting to sound like a date when all the visible planets align with Spica, the Hand star in Virgo, September 4th to 8th 2040, the 8th is the first day of the New Moon and the birthday of Mary. December 21st 2020, we has the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn they called the Christmas Star, every December 21st you find the Sun next to a little bloody red spot called Spiculum meaning Spear, what all those planets will look like in the hand of Virgo, Spiculum is known as the Lagoon Nebula, a body of water that the sun(Son) must cross on the day it stops moving(Dies) on the southeastern horizon(Cross) for 3 days. The heart of the fetus takes it's first beat at the end of the 3rd week, move the Sun back 3 weeks, now its between the Heart of Scorpio and Ophiuchus, whose 7 main stars form the shape of a cave door, pyramidal on top. Place the star Alula at midheaven, from Bethlehem, you'll find it there again 9 months later, or 6,606 hours, the time at each end is off by 7 hours, it take Alula 7 hours to fall from midheaven to the horizon, Alula means "First Born", Alula is replaced by Vega, our old pole star 12,000 years ago, associated with the goddess Bau-Gula the first physician, the mother of Damu "The Child", the alula is the thumb on a wing, the thumb is a symbol of Judgement, wings are symbols of Messengers, Bau-Gula is the Dog-Headed goddess associated with the goddess Baba, the wife of Zababa, seen as the Right Leg of Ophiuchus, odd is that Sagittarius was seen as Pabilsag, the father of Damu and husband of Bau-gula. Whenever Alula is at midheaven, you find Hatysa sitting on the western horizon, it is the bright star at the tip of Orion's Sword, found on his Right Thigh, the 8th brightest star of Orion, 7 create his hourglass shape. Hatysa means Slaughter, but read backwards "Savior of Sinners", in Hebrew Hata means "To Sin", yasa means "Savior", hidden in Hatysa is Haya, meaning Grain/Seed, Haya is known as the Door-Keeper god of Scribes. The Sword of Orion is the "Iron of Set", the right leg is the one Horus cuts off of Set, Twaeret chains it to the Pole star, Polaris was known as the Dog's Tail, Vega is the Head, Taweret is Draco, found between the two, Damu was known as The Swine Star, the Head of Draco, Taweret was called Reret "The Sow", the one that raised Horus. Taweretis the Hippo/Lion/Crocodile(Dragon) goddess of Childbirth and Rebirth, the epithets "Lady of Heaven", "Mistress of the Horizon", "She Who Removes Water", "Mistress of Pure Water", and "Lady of the Birth House". Taweret is the wife of Set/Seth known as Thigh and Foreleg of the Ox, we call the 7 stars of the Big Dipper, and Alula is the Twin stars found at the bottom of Ursa Major's Right Leg. As Sagittarius in astrology is the Hips (Hippo) and Thighs, Virgo is the Belly Button, your first scare, when you were cut from the Placenta, or the Chensit, the wife of Sopdu or Septu, in Latin septem means 7, Sopdu was known as Venus, the son of Sopdet, the Dog Star Sirius, and the son of Sahu the Hidden One, we call Orion. Venus spends 7 weeks hidden by the Sun, retrogrades 43(=7) days every 77 weeks, join 3 sevens together, to create a triangle, the hieroglyph of Sopdu. Both Venus and Sirius are known as Morning Stars, Sirius drops below the horizon for 70 days returning with the seasonal floods, rises with the Sun for 40 days, called Canicula meaning Puppy Dog, when the would sacrifice a Red Dog and throw Fish on a fire, in Sumerian, Ur means "Dog" and sa means Red, you can find the sa sign next to the Right Leg of Taweret, her hand rest on the "sa" sign, 𓎃, a hieroglyph that means 'protection' or 'lifesaver', is it associated with Hatysa "Savior of Sinners"? The head of Draco was seen as a Seed cup hanging on a plough handle, Damu in the cup, the Standing Wolf, Wepwawet on the Bar, "Protector of the Belly", "Opener of the Ways", protected by the Goddess Neith(Virgo). "Bar" means Son, Draco was part of the World Plow, invented by the Fish-Head god of Grain, Dagon. The Dog's Tail Polaris wiggles 0.7 degrees, our Sun is tilted 7 degrees, spins 25 days at its belly, slower at the pole, 35 days each, 35+35=70, and 2+5=7, a point on the 7 degree tilt takes 79 years to complete 1 full rotation, every 79 years Mercury and Mars can be found together on the same day, Mercury creates 7 triangles with 22 retrogrades 22\7=3.14 or Pi, each retrograde takes place 120 degrees from the last, after 3 a triangle can be drawn out, maybe from the 88 day year 8+8=16, that equals 7, which is the number of days Mercury has every Earth year if you count Mercury's Mid-Day Double Sunrise. Mars retrogrades 70 to 79 days, takes 707 days for Mars to get back to the same spot, conjuncts with Venus 3 times in 9 months every 77 months. September 2040 is a Leap Year, making September 6th the 250th day, day of the Dark Moon, which is 16 days from the Fall Equinox, 106 days from the Winter Solstice, 169 days from the Spring Equinox, and 77 days from the Summer Solstice, go back 7 days, August 31st is 183 days either way to February 29th, Leap Day, when we add 540 Leap Days every 2,160 years, 30 degree movement of the Sun through a sign, which is 77.14 weeks of added Leap Days, 7+7=14 and 77+14=91, the number of days in a season. 79 years before September 6th 2040 is September 6th 1961 or 961961, cut in half, Twin Seven, 961=7. 151 days later, the planetary alignment during the solar eclipse 2/5/1962 (Feb. 5th) 2+5+1+9+6+2=25. November 22nd 1961 was the rare Blue Moon, 77 days after 6th of September, when the Moon rose occulting the Eye of Taurus. The same numbers are found on the flip side of 6,606 hours, a Blood Moon, an eclipse that started on the 21st, but when backwards and finished on the 20th, using the 70 minute twilight hour, Dusk and Dawn are 35 minutes each, like the Pole Spin of our Sun. How many mes do you see, that's me birthday I've been showing you, would like the meanings of my names or my names, all 7 of them.

@@AltrusianGraceMedia 16 minutes in, I know I'm, like a Lion, my name is Lewallyn, but Son of the Wolf, Weylyn is the one that bites, the Pure/ Blessed one Wyn, the Famous Spear Roger, did you know that name is slang for Penis, hiding in Roger is erigo, to raise · to erect · to build · to rouse · to excite · to stimulate. Set, Suty, Sutekh, Son of Geb and Nut, Seth is a God of physical vigor and voracious sexual appetite in open conflict with social order and emotional bonds. Set as the Celestial Bull. In this form, He crushed Osiris beneath His thigh, which was later amputated by Horus. Set’s thigh was then chained to the pole star, whereupon it became the Big Dipper (or as the Egyptians called it, “the Bull’s Thigh”). As Sutekh, He was equated with the Hyksos’ chief deity, the thunder god Ba’al Hadad. A reference to the Secret of the Two Partners, or the idea that Set and Horus are really two aspects of the same god. This concept is depicted in Egyptian art as a humanoid figure with both the head of Horus and the head of Set, the Secret of the Two Partners works both ways, and “He of the Two Faces” can also be used as a name for Horus. You can find Eve hiding in the center of 7, between the S'N, play "Sin Eve" in reverse, you hear it echo "Venus". Play "Her Star, Rog Envy, Rog Genome" in reverse, you hear it echo "Morning Star, Evening Star, Roger". Boo! don't let me scare you away, I might have more to say.

...I had to do a report on Sumeria in elementary school in the 90's... It was said to be the first when I researched then, it is still said to be the first now... Where did you hear that it was Egypt? Using Google it says that Sumerian writing traces back to originate in 3500BC, while Egypt was a few hundred years later around 3300BC. Did your confusion come from those numbers? Remember that BC dates are descending, until AD where they ascend.

...she sounds like the original Eve or Evening Star ,who is the progenitor to the Annunaki or Mother of the Annunaki often mistaken as son's of god,they used (ME's) passed on to Innana/Isis but the Evening Star,was first created and made from a portion of the Mourning Star ,both much much more ancient than the Annunaki , called forth from the Treasury of light about 14 billion years ago, with that great war caused by her innocent mistake which occurred about 4 billion years ago ,she is the one whom Enki brother of Enlil called "she who bore us all" and "mistress of Heaven" with a rank much greater than Innana the demigod one of the firstborn of the King's list of ATLANTIS founded by the Son of the Fallen Evening Star/Eve/Sophia/Tiamat

How can she be the first recorded poet, when poetry originated in ancient Kemet?
@leapeace1201
@leapeace1201 Ай бұрын
The poetry in Kemet was still oral tradition. or did they write through textile designs? Enheduanna wrote this down on clay tablets and signed it in 2500 BCE. Hieroglyphics were a few hundred years after this. Bricks last longer than fiber.

We are manifestations of fearsome Gods, we (like divine beasts) will devour those who disobey, we will bring prosperity and peace to those who bow to we chosen ones. The Shining Lions of the Plain. The powers, the true powers, were the royal family death dealers. Warriors and holy ones of bloodthirsty anthropomorphic pantheons.

Her poetry was largely in praise of Inanna, who she helped syncretized with Ishtar. Her devotion does come thru loud and clear, but scholars believe her role was also very political. Her father was the first to create an empire and that meant winning the hearts of the southerners who spoke Sumerian and built their culture around Inanna and her temples. They were kinda like food banks, and where accounting started to keep track of who brought what and who it should be distributed to. Prior to all that she was more concerned with justice. After all this Inanna/Ishtar was used as more of a warrior goddess. The Story about Inanna fighting the mountain (maybe the garden of Eve?, Maybe Tiamat?), that was a later work.

The intonations aren’t right for these prayers. Enheduanna’s poetry should be soft not harshly spoken . I’m happy to hear them but it sounds like some epic fight once you tell them , when really she speaks of her faith and claims her power with a lot more vulnerability than what’s portrayed here. Sacred text with no understanding of the actual spiritual context and struggles of her time sounds disrespectful and boastful.
