He was one of my grandfather’s favorite poets. Thank you for sharing. I’m sick with Covid and watching your videos today has been a comfort.

TS Eliot crossed the pond in 1916. He taught the future poet laureate John Betjeman at a London school. Thanks, Robert. Cracking closing line.

Nicely done Bob. Eliot has one of my favorite quotes ever: “Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” Happy Thursday!

Thanks so much for sharing that excerpt ☺️. I started this year with a strong feeling of anxiety for all the things I didn’t get to check off the to-do list in the last week of 2024, but this served as a great reminder that I could reframe it as starting off 2025 by finishing off those tasks - accomplishment rather than failure - and even if not immediately, there’s always still time 😊 Happy new year and I look forward to seeing your reading journey in 2025!

Eliot was such a good poet. The Hollow Men and The Waste Land are among my favourite texts ever written.

Especially "The Waste Land", yes.

That's lovely. Thank you. Perhaps I'm uninspired in professing my favorite is The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Who can't relate to the thought of a life measured out in coffee spoons? The mundanity, but also the domesticity, and always time inching forward.

"Prufrock" is powerful and worthy of all the praise it receives.
