Really enjoyed this. Important and very interesting big picture view of the state of humanity. A key question by Kingsnorth: "How do we live?"

It is a mysterious relationship Paul, a sacred secret, what evolves from our private conversations, where we shut our closets and ask God to help us with this life with our inner pain that is where the power lies.

Enjoying watching Paul Kingsnorth interviews at the moment. One thing I have yet to see him address is the role of his adopted faith, Christianity, in the view of the natural world as simply a resource for humans, which he analyses so well, but usually as a consequence of a lack of belief in the divine. Has the Bible not been the primary source of nature as something to be tamed and exploited?

No that would be Protestantism and capitalism. Paul is an orthodox Christian.

Humans are assigned the role of cartakers of creation bringing it in accordance with God's plan to a higher leverl. Humanity starts in the Garden and is then banished to the wilderness. The wilderness of earth has become worse since we fell into sin, the earth is cursed because of us. If we were still perfect we wouldn't have faced the current situation. The situation of the earth is very much a refelection of our own fallen nature. In the end the earth will be recreated but we don't have to sit around and wait for that.

Not really, the role of humans is to be stewards of the earth and to care for it. Psalm 24:1: "The Earth is the Lord's and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it". If this were to be lived out, it would mean that Christians would have to adopt a posture of humility and not of ownership of the earth.
