Poets of the Fall is one of the few bands where their live singing voice is just as good, if not even better than their recordings. I absolutely love this rendition of King of Fools as it has a more somber and reflective feel to it than the more energetic and emotional one of the recorded song, while still delivering the same message. The fact that they can express the same song in such a vastly different way is almost magical. Hearing this in my twenties is just as inspiring as hearing it the first time in my early teens. And I know I'll be enjoying their songs long after they've retired ^_^

Will I be crucified for wanting to believe? I believe Could you hold us up if I would drag us down? Resurrect emotions from our past N' if they had a king for fools would you wear the crown? Build us up again and make us last Cos what I feel is the only truth for me And I get by on this naivete of youth If what I feel is the only truth And what I give out will make up what I'll receive Can I still leave behind my naivete of youth? Will I be crucified for wanting to believe? The pretty small Alexander Theatre (until 1917, the Russian Theatre), was the main venue of the Finnish National Opera up to 1993. It was inadequate in many ways, but still I have fond memories from there. For some reason, I remember best The Coronation of Poppea in 1988. Whoa. Didn't listen POTF for a while and now I'm literally in chills. Though I can't find any interesting things for myself in their latest albums, I still truly love early albums, especially this song. Excellent
@Flouflouche5 жыл бұрын
In my point of view, if you didn't try to deeply dig in their earlier stuff enough yet (by that I mean to have some songs on repeat in order to enjoy more even further and in a quite right mood), you should give another chance to their last songs! I think they are still as amazing as they were with the first stuff but I understand it may not be straightforward for some people to enjoy the most recent works because the style has changed. However, I had the experience that style does not matter with POTF, they still keep the same aura as from their debut (except maybe the fact that they have chosen an external producer for the Clearview album), it is just that maybe you should consider it again ^^ Also, do not hesitate to see them live (depending on where you live), they are truly amazing, including the Ultraviolet tour. Finally, I know it is just a matter of opinions but I am just giving you a suggestion :) Take care!
@lexehwaz5 жыл бұрын
@@Flouflouche Thank you for your opinion. I listen POTF for about 10 years in general, so I had enough time to dive deep in all their stuff, as well as the early era and more recent stuff (in fact, even JG somehow seems to me recent, but this year it will be six years already). I know how magical they are on shows, I never missed any of their gigs in my country until 2017. This band played significant role in my growing as a person, so POTF always will be in my soul, no matter what they create now. But maybe someday I'll understant their current style, who knows :)
