I stumbled across these guys when I was playing the video game called Max Payne 2. That was back in I don't know it was either 2001 or 2003. I remember hearing a janitor coming and like chopping up the lyrics fucking it up pretty bad in the video game and I thought it was interesting the lyrics that is.. And then I heard later in the game some more of the quote-unquote bad guys playing it on a piano. And when I finally beat the game I actually got to hear the song during the credits and I was hooked immediately. I mean those were back... That was like right after the original. I've had my digital copy of late goodbye... Like the original version when it was released the first time for the game.. I've had that copy as a digital file... For I would have to say two decades now almost exactly two decades. for those of you that are not really familiar with the music and you've just stumbled across all of this listen to me very very carefully because this is important. If you want to experience with these boys are truly about.. Don't bother with searching for individual songs just go up to the top of the KZbin page that you're currently on and in the search bar type the following exactly as I type it... Poets of The Fall Alexander Theater Sessions. It should give you the option to listen to the entire album. It is in a beautiful very old indoor theater in Helsinki Finland. There on the stage it's entirely acoustical. They're playing to an audience that's not there. All the seats are empty. And there's a music video for the entire album every song has its own music video. And they bring in a string quartet that goes by the name of cryosis for I think three or four of the songs. It's my personal opinion that if you don't go search for that right now.. You are doing yourself a serious disservice. And if you're not in a good mood... That album will Purge it right out of you. If you're not in a good mood you can expect the tears to come and they will. I'm a forty-three-year-old father-of-five daughters... Had a hell of a life including three deployments in Afghanistan. It takes quite a bit to bring tears to my eyes but when I listen to that album... It did several times. Most of the songs I had already heard countless times. One in particular that had me babbling like a baby was the song called, Children Of The Sun. It is hauntingly beautiful. Like every single song that's not one hundred percent happy... This one is one hell of an emotional roller coaster. Some of the best vocals you'll ever hear from this band are on that album. And it's interesting because I found out that the songs are numbered specifically for a reason but they won't tell us the reason. And it's not song one or track when I think they call it act 1 act 2 etc etc. if ever there was a 100% of 2 stickle album that would redefine the definition of perfect.. It's the Alexander theater sessions by poets of the Fall. I'll tell you that band is a godsend musically to humanity. I have purged a lot of distress and depression out of me listening to them over the years. And no matter what situation you're in in life good or bad... There's a damn fine chance you're going to find a song by them that will reflect probably very very very closely to whatever it is that you're going through. Especially if it comes to loss and love. Yeah that's a rough topic for some but anyway.. thank you for reading my ramp. Go check out the album... Seriously go check it out. Just humor me I promise you you will not be disappointed. Stay safe out there, and God bless. 🙏
@NortheastSurvival911 Жыл бұрын
One more thing to the gentleman that or woman whichever.. to whomever put the original comment that started this thread... I'm going to back up what you say 1 million percent. This is real talent. This is real music. There's no beatboxes there's no pre-recorded anyting. These boys are just as good life as they are on any album. And most bands can't even hold a candle to what these fellows can do live. And make sure to check out the song called rogue. I know some of you reading this have no idea what I'm talking about so in addition to the Alexander theater sessions check out the song rogue. Preferably one of the 3 dozen live versions that are out there. 🙏

I've been extensively studying this song for the last 3 years. I've come up with so many interpretations but I'm never quite on point to the meaning of a few of the words. I wish someday The Poets would expand poetry and tell us their intended meaning. Poets' music has changed my life to a point where I don't listen to other bands anymore. Their songs are stuff to meditate upon and explore the subconscious.

Several years later,i still find it genius that they started theyr career with writing theyr first ever song for a videogame. That turned out to be Max Payne 2 wich the comments is a strong reflection of,Marko also modeling for Vladimir Lem in the first game. And look how many supporters they got from just that game! Normal promotion doesnt get you that much of a following/boost (it has to be a management out of the ordinary really) I remember playing through Max Payne 2,and as soon as i heard the "janitor" sing parts of the song,and later i think some guy(s) by a piano. And then with the end credits,i got completely lost into that song. I just HAD to know more about the people behind it,what the bands name was,the songs name etc. It needs to be something extra,something unique and special for me to react that way. "Late Goodbye" had me wanting to play the game over several times. And i found the small promotion spots ingame absolutely GENIUS!
