Just found a better potential answer to the weight mystery pointed out in my earlier comment. I kept getting search results that seem to tell me that poha is just flattened or physically manipulated white rice until I searched for why does it have more fiber than white rice and found that unlike white rice, poha retains the bran layer.

There is a mystery in the calorie count of poha rice. At least some poha rice brands list less than 60 calories per 25 grams. Actually, the bag I have says 57 calories, but even with the earlier number that means there are 120 calories in 50 grams while white rice usually has between 160 and 170 calories per 45 grams. I of course searched for it and found no answer. One theory that has just occurred to me is that the calories listed for the poha rice could be for it after being cooked and therefore it take into account the weight of the absorbed water.
