I'm a Maharashtrian and as all Maharashtrian families, my mom too has taught me how to make the staple kande pohe. I some how always messed it up. But I learnt the literal science behind the ingredients and thus when I made kande pohe today, they turned out perfect!!! Yes i could have added am additional mirch or two and a little more sugar would have made it taste better, but the poha was a hugeeeee improvement from what i had made in the past. And for the first time i thought it was so easy to make. No wonder it's a staple in our household. Thank you for explaining the basics and make it easy for us amature enthusiasts.

grated coconut tastes good along with coriander specially in konkan region we decorate poha with coriander and fresh grated coconut tastes amazing..
@amolk67314 жыл бұрын
Yes...being from Konkan myself, our addition to this preparation would be freshly grated coconut, a little sugar during the cooking, maybe a pinch of cummin seeds to pop with the mustard seeds at the start, a quarter of a lime on the side while serving, our subtraction would be the peanuts / groundnuts....

@@amolk6731 We use hing (asafoetida), curry leaves, mustard and cumin seeds along with green chillies at the start then add chopped onions, potatoes, and some salt to help it cook the mixture, tomatoes are also added although it's optional. We do add groundnuts in our poha but roasted one. Then we add turmeric, poha, salt and bit sugar. Stir it well so the turmeric properly coats the poha. Add teensy bit of water as well to soften up the poha. Garnish it with coriander in the end. We also use freshly grated coconut and sprinkle some lemon juice. Ha that's so scrumptious and mouth-watering. 😍😍🤤🤤 Love me some poha!! 🥰🥰

Absolutely. You are right. Here are some varieties I can remember: 1) Indorire pohe - with shev chivda etc 2) Kokani pohe - with coconut 3) Dadpe pohe - dahi kanda coconut & no tadka/tempering 4) Dahi pohe - with takda on top 5) Tarri / Rassa pohe 6) Bhel pohe 7) Upma pohe 8) Nutri pohe - with Soya nuggests 9) Cheez pohe 10) And finally Shezwan pohe :-) Happy eating !

This is one of those simplest recipes but I always fail in it 😅 another reason they add a bit of Sugar is it doesn't let Poha to get dry after cooking. Cheers and keep your recipes coming. I love the way you explain everything and it feels very interactive even though we ain't communicating directly during it. Thanks for all recipes :)
