Point Loma is a beautiful seaside neighborhood in sunny San Diego, California. Though it's not technically a suburb, Point Loma is still approximately 15 minutes from downtown San Diego by car. The beach is a favorite of Point Loma residents - especially surfers and sunbathers. In fact, 57% of the area's population are avid water sports lovers. But aside from its proximity to the beach or recreational activities, Point Loma has so much more to offer. It's one of the few neighborhoods in San Diego to be designated as one of the best places to live according to its residents.
Point Loma is known for Shelter Island which is home to boat yards, Yacht clubs, restaurants and hotels. The infamous Sunset Cliffs is a popular hang out spot to catch the evening rays. Point Loma has Liberty Station, which use to be the Navy Base. After being converted into shopping, dining, art galleries, wine bars and a luxury movie theater in 1997 its become one of the most popular spots for locates to hang out at. There are two military bases, the Submarine Fleet, USS Recruit Ship, Cabrillo National Monument, Fort Rosecrans National Military Cemetery and Nazarene University. This charming neighborhood has top public, charter and private schools, tons of parks, recreational activates to keep the family busy; its walkable, bike-able and among the top places to live in San Diego.
