I used to work at Naval base, Bayside, we used to go down to Point Loma seafoods at lunch , used to always get that fish sandwich, same fish and tarter sauce, same brown paper bag then we used to sit right down by the docks and watch the boats. And that was in 1976 !! , so that fish sandwich has not changed in 40+ years ! best seafood in town, thanks for posting !

Point Loma Seafoods is timeless! It's so great to hear that even back in 1976 that the Fish Sandwich still came in that paper bag and that they make their sourdough fresh! Jay! You were SO CLOSE! Yes, Point Loma Seafood is great. But you were only a few steps away from another fantastic, just-caught-fresh seafood place: Mitch's Seafood. They are also great and every bit as fresh and much less crowded. I also think (not sure) that they validate for the parking lot, so you don't have to deal with the more limited parking at Point Loma. Actually, the lot is not that expensive, so it's also a good choice if you are going to Point Loma Seafood and their lot has folks waiting. Try out Mitch's. You'll thank me. Then, every time you go for seafood there, you'll have to pick which to go into. Picking between great and great is not a bad problem to have.

Hi Jay, I'm following you from Alcala de Henares, Spain. I suppose you'll know that the city of San Diego is named after a Franciscan saint who lived and died in my city, San Diego de Alcala. In fact, their mummified remains are still preserved here and, on San Diego Day, they are shown to the public. It would be nice if you could show the mission that the Franciscans founded and it gave rise to the city

I’ll add another terrific fish place - the Fish Shop on Garnet Ave in Pacific Beach. Parking lot, relaxed casual dining, some tables outside too and super fresh fish sandwiches! It’s our favorite!

I love Point Loma! Always seemed about about 10 degrees cooler in the summer than downtown. There was a cool little hot dog and beer place on the fishing pier in Shelter Island. Good idea to do a separate video on Liberty Station...that place is like it’s own little town. Keep up the great videos 👍

My favorite thing to get at Point Loma Seafoods is the Squid Sandwich. Basically just like your fish sandwich except they use a nice tender calamari steak instead of the fish. So damn good! Eppig Brewing is one of the best breweries in San Diego. Check them out sometime. If someone is visiting San Diego the Cabrillo Monument is a must see. A lot of cool things to see there and the view of San Diego from there is spectacular! In the Winter you can regularly see whales from there as well. Great video!

@@Jaycation There are two Bluewater locations, the one you saw in OB and another on India Street. India St. is is original location. There is usually a line there. OB usually has a shorter line and the quality is comparable. You also have an ocean view there. My go to tacos there are the gilled Wahoo and grilled shrimp add avo. If they have soft shell crab that is an unusual delight. The track taco is also good. The bourbon lime mussels kill it. If they have fresh bluefin tuna be sure to get that as sashimi. It is some of the best sashimi I have ever had. That usually happens during summer. When you get their fish tacos, you get a large serving of really good fresh fish. The taco is pretty standard but the fish is excellent. Pick the fish you like the most. The local beer selection is not large, but they usually have a few choice selections.
