Thank you Prof. Baffour!! I have been praying for such a thing on Gen. Acheampong for years. His story must be retold. Hopefully Ghanaian filmmakers will shot movies on some of our history makers as is being done in Nigeria. I look forward to similar works on the likes of Gen Utuka.

To those of us who knew this man, do testify how good he was. As a matter of fact I think he didn't deserve to die the way it happened. May his soul rest in peace.

It is interesting how the CEO of Kuffour Foundation speaks so lofty of Nkrumah. Nice ---the difference is education.

Look forward to buying this book. Recently purchased and read another book titled "Genesis Four" by Major George Tagoe. This is a riveting read about I.K Acheampong's rule. Major Tagoe describes times where Acheampong would disguise himself as a "house boy," on visits to the supermarket. This was an attempt to see first-hand how his policies were impacting the common Ghanaian. His accomplishments are definitely understated and only superseded by Nkrumah's seven-year plan. Nkrumah and Acheampong are the only revolutionary leaders in post-colonial Ghana. No other so-called leaders come anywhere close. History should be accurately told, and I am glad this book is coming out . . .

@@doobia981 yes indeed. For his efforts he was betrayed, executed and even worse his family was denied proper burial for 20 years. He committed the same act that got others a state burial.

Between 1974 and 1976, Acheampong also developed the roads and gutters of new communities like Ablenkpe and Dzorwulu all in the Ayawaso west constituency, Accra.

Acheampong was not the 4th longest serving Head of State of Ghana but rather the 3rd. Here’s the explanation: Rawlings served accumulatively for almost two decades (19 years and 119 days in total). The 1st coming of Rawlings from 4 June 1979 to 24 September 1979 (112 days) and the 2nd coming of Rawlings from 31 December 1981 to 7 January 2001 (19 years 7 days). Kufuor did exactly 8 years (7 January 2001 to 7 January 2009) Acheampong was in power for 6 years 174 days from 13 January 1972 to 5 July 1978 when he was deposed. Ghana was under the British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II from Independence till we became a Republic on 1 July 1960. (3 years 117 days). Nkrumah only became the Head of State from 1 July 1960 till 26 February 1966 when he deposed (5 years 240 days). Most people mistakenly merge Prime Minster Nkrumah and President Nkrumah. It should not be so. That makes Acheampong the 3rd 🥉 longest serving after Rawlings and Kufuor. He may 🔜 be the 4th barring any uncertainty when Akufo Addo leaves on 7 January 2025.

Western type democracy ISN'T for Ghana. We have to find a system that suits the Ghanaian people nature, culture and terrain. Western democracy has destroyed Ghana because it has created a win at all costs attitude that blights true development,prosperity and the notion of equality for all.

A country that doesn’t acknowledge its history is a lost nation, and that’s the path Ghana seems to be heading. The current and future generations don’t know anything about our history. All we know is the politically twisted narratives we have been made to believe by politically motivated narrators. It is bad and destructive. It doesn’t make our people patriotic. I wish there will be more works like this so that we can at least know where to find such facts about our history

Hmmmmm,peter Tasiru and co should just ask for forgiveness from God and the relatives of those departed generals. They just set up captain budu koomson to bring his two fathers to the firing range. But his hands are clean. Captain budu koomson is a strong man. Because,if it were to be me,I would have been having nightmares up to date. Especially,when the soldiers asked him to cover the faces of his two fathers with the hood( acheampong and utuka) before,they were shot. The fact is that,they were determined to kill the generals if not,the late Henry kojo dzabah went to the council to repay the generals debts but the members refused and walked him out. I'm sad because,just put yourself in the shoes of the wives of these departed generals. I watched acheampong and utuka's execution on my grandpa's black and white television at dansoman early in the morning in June 1979. Vengeance is of God!

Those who executed him knew very well they were just vindictive for no reason. They came and sold all that he bequeathed this nation by appropriating every commercial and industrial concern he built.

I am yet to read the book- but that coup was not planned by Acheampong-- the one ethnic group that planned the coup needed an Akan blend- Ike just took advantage and struck ahead. SMC 1- was very successful cos of the composition-- Agbo and Solermen etc were with Ike but things started going wrong with the advent! /arrival of SMC 2 for Agbo and the Voltarians have been kicked out.

@@youssefcamara3916You didn't see anything. Operation Feed Yourself was the greatest policy of all time. Things began to fall apart when the fuel on the world market began to skyrocket. If you are routing for that as a reason for the revolution, also speak about 1983. Except by that time, you had left the country.
@youssefcamara3916

@kofiboakye_tv operation feed yourself was a joke. Let not even talk about that gang that can't shoot straight, refusing to honor Ghana international obligations to the country creditors. No serious will do that, and hope those same institutions to lend you in the future. That doesn't justify the killing of anyone, but Ghana was a failed state by any fair evaluation. Without the revolution, Ghana today would have been the mess you are witnessing in francophones countries right now. Military coups by any Dick and Henry .
