Josephine, have you seen the woman who "paints" various ballets? She puts paint on her shoes and dances the part on a canvas. Really cool!

This was a plot point in a Korean movie (The name is unfortunately not coming to mind 😅) the female lead is dancing traditionaly and all the gangsters are ogling her, but the male lead is actually paying attention and he's the only one who sees that her footwork has painted a dragon along the stage. It's a gorgeous moment Edit: the movie is The Accidental Gangster and The Mistaken Cortesian. I highly recommend it

I believe the last video is of a blind dancer. There are two siblings, a brother and a sister, who created a ballet studio in Brazil for the blind and I think it's him. I'm not 100% sure, tho.

i am a ballet student in TX and our company ballet teacher has a son who shes has to take to class with her so we can just be doing some turns then her son is just running around knocking over ballet bars playing with cars running all over the place its fun but sometimes he finds the music and turns it up to like 100 or but shuts it off but he is really fun to have around

Josephine, the Chinese acrobats/dancers you saw doing pointe on the guy’s head is from a *FULL PRODUCTION OF SWAN LAKE* I believe the frogs instead of the Little Swans is from the same production- the entire thing is on KZbin and I’m DYING for you to react to the whole ballet

The "so bridgerton" thing reminded me of the "Pride & Prejudice: Having a Ball" documentary where a class of GSA dance students are trained for one (1) high-end ball set in 1813. With historically plausible dancing shoes.

I’ve been seeing so many more videos… either taken by students or parents… of this new generation of instructors who are so much more kind, empathetic, creative, and relaxed than what you see in videos of lessons from years ago. It’s really heartwarming. One I saw earlier this week… they were working on (forgive me, I don’t know all the proper terms) but they were working on how high they could lift their legs… and the instructor kept emphasizing that you aren’t competing with each other… but you’re trying to improve on your past self… either in height or form. He was giving them high-fives and making jokes & telling stories from when he was young… keeping them relaxed and enjoying themselves. The older dancer filming could be heard whispering saying she wished she’d had such a gentle instructor when she was young… that maybe she wouldn’t have wanted to quit 10k times a day then.

I was 6 years old when my mum took me to my first ballet lesson. I didn't know what ballet was, but I had done "Physical Culture" (that might be an Australian thing, idk) but i remember in my first lesson we were sitting on the floor pointing our feet and I could easily put my toes on the floor with my heels on the ground like that guy did and just like him, I thought it was normal. Ballet teacher pulls me up in front of the class and makes a HUGE fuss about my feet and yells at the other girls (remember we're 6 years old) how they need to be more like me. The other girls were mean to me during the break in the class and at the end I was in tears. Never went back to ballet lessons, despite my mother and the teacher trying to force me by literally dragging me while I kicked and screamed into the hall for the second lesson. I'm now 40 and I can point my toes almost to the ground, but they no longer touch. I can still put my feet behind my head no worries. I possibly would have made a great ballet dancer if not for a cruel ballet teacher...

This is going to make Josephine have a fit. I purchased three pairs of point shoes. One of them is a real pair and the other two are Amazon. No, I'm not a dancer and I'm not training to be one either. I also can NOT go on pointe. I'm using them for a unique reason. I have ingrown toenails that are that way because they are too short. When I'm laying in bed, I point my toes and the sheet press down on the top of my nails and my big toes would hurt. I would wake up in the middle of the night and my feet would feel like I have danced on pointe for the last six hours. I'm planning on eventually seeing a doctor about this but the nails need to grow out. I got the idea because I just wanted something that would cover my feet in a way to keep the pressure off. Pointe shoes work perfectly and I can safely wear them in bed and they don't tear up the sheets. And for the record, I CAN'T GO ON POINTE anyway. I already know I don't have that strength nor training.
