Senior dancers, like high school seniors on pointe, will go to local nursing homes and do their senior dances for the residents. It's cultural and it's a community event. and you will not find a more supportive, receptive audience. . it's really cool.

Josephine, the lady with the tutu trees at the Royal Ballet does not have a British accent. She is called Freya and is a tour guide at The Royal Ballet and Opera House in Covent Garden, London. She sounds Canadian or American to my British ear. But she is elegant, lovely and speaks beautifully. I enjoy seeing her in other Royal Ballet videos. I’m in London next week. I wonder whether to book a tour.
@oneshoej3
@oneshoej3 11 күн бұрын
Yes, as an American I agree she sounds like she's American or possibly Canadian. I think it's a little confusing because her speech is unusually "clipped" (don't know if that's the word, but I mean she hits a lot of "t" sounds [e.g. in "simplicity"] and sort of separates her words rather than running them together). There's also something about the overall rhythm of her speech that is kind of unusual. I almost feel like she's emulating the rhythm and pacing of a news presenter or documentary narrator, maybe specifically a British one. Do you think there's anything to that idea?
@skp7577

@@oneshoej3 I think she may have lived in London for some time and picked up some English rhythms and pronunciations. There is one word she says which sounds very like an RP English accent.

I have always loved the male dancers… If they are on stage I see nothing else. There’s something about their strength, their ability, their grace, & their talent that is just mesmerizing.
@Kayjee17
@Kayjee17 10 күн бұрын
Mikhail Baryshnikov started my obsession with male ballet dancers when I saw the routine he did at the beginning of the movie White Nights - not the modern dance one he did with Gregory Hines (although that one is fascinating for the contrast between how a tapper and a ballet guy do the same dance), but the ballet one he did at the beginning. After I saw it, I found everything I could that showed male ballet dancers as well as the ladies!

As a Dutchy i can tell you that well crafted clogs are more comfortable and warm then you might think. Not a lot of people know this, but there is a difference between a mens and a womans clog. The "typical" clog is the mans clog. Clogs worn by women have a bigger opening and instead of the wooden rim to keep the clog on the foot there is a precicly placed leather band across the arch of the foot.

@@EmL-kg5gnIf this question is for me- I work in a mailroom. We actually physically go to the post office in a designated van and pick up the mail ourselves. We have carts with shelves that we move in & out of the van via a lift. On 6/25/24 I had just helped unload some of the large bins (tall, more square shaped) from the van onto one of our flatbed carts. Somehow the ramp at the end of the lift wasn't in the upright, locked position so I got a 500 (?) lb. cart fall right on top of me (gravity). I was very lucky I didn't have any broken ribs or my spine broken. I had/still have bruising on the top of my left knee and sore/tight muscles on the inside of my right knee where I had a puncture wound and my femur broken. I had whiplash-like symptoms for a few days after getting my surgery and released from the hospital. The worst was the first 2 weeks because I couldn't bend my right leg at all. My poor left leg was so worn out I wore one of those knee supports like people wear for tennis elbow. I'm done wanting to even use my walker anymore and started using my stabilizer cane yesterday. It's much easier to get around our house (I live with my mom) since the house is so narrow and long. ❤️

Hopefully you fully recover but I know it can be scary if there’s a possibility you might not!

The best for beginners are the ones that fit you and compliment your particular strengths and areas where you need to develop. Unfortunately, it's not like a car where we can say "this brand has the best reliability and this brand gets the best gas mileage." It's a lot of, seeing how short your toes are, I would immediately say we should go with A. However, your foot is also really narrow, so that is not going to work for you." Okay... here's my question. Obviously, the majority of pointe shoes are made via the turn-shoe method utilizing a variety of different makers. At what point did Freed say, "most companies shoot for reliability and consistency in their product so the customer can be assured that they're going to get the same thing every time. This is especially important in ballet where we are building artist's tools, because artists can be... exacting. But what if we just let y'all do whatever the hell you want to and make the shoe in your own unique way and tell people this is a good thing?"

It's always so stressful seeing people I like reacting positively to Harry Potter stuff as a trans person. I adore Josephine's content, but it makes me feel SO uncomfortable and I always question if the person is safe for me and my friends.

Stress is a buzzword created in the 80s, so ur dr could get a kickback on the drugs u got. Ur stressed about people reacting positively? Then negative responses wouldn't. Ur orientation doesn't matter. Find a hobby, focus on something else, or change it.

If it’s any reassurance I’ve met people who just had no idea. At the time it was such a popular series that some people know enough to get a reference but don’t actually know more. Totally understandable though 💕 That’s how I feel when I see Master Ballet Academy, they post some extreme political stuff and there’s been an abuse scandal (might even be 2?). But they have a good social media presence outside that and have become popular because of Eva so some people don’t realise…

Where have you seen political and abuse scandals? Just interested, it’s good to know what I’m supporting when I watch something.

Agreed. Both the Harry Potter and AI content of that one put me off the rest of the video. I don’t support transphobes or AI that steals and copies real artists’ work. Trans people deserve to be safe. Artists deserve to support themselves. 💜
