As an older woman who started ballet at 21. This movie is one of my go to flicks . Ballet is always in the heart even if some of us never made Prima. Love Leslie 💘 Browne.

I’m a hyper mobile dancer myself but when I started hip exercises a few months later I could hold my leg in center at 180 degrees really helps hyper mobile dancers and was the only thing that got me stronger in the hips

As a 54 year old former professional dancer who had admired Leslie Brown my entire live; Hello Turning Pointe, and all of ABT’s performances in Chicago. I love her and her generation. She has been off my radar for so long, and now this brilliant gem!

That was an ECELLENT! tutorial. Leslie Browne's analogy about building foundations is awesome. A very simple and fundemantal eample. Thank you. :-)

Watching The Turning Point right now...Lesley Browne and her talents are just exquisite! Didn't realize this movie is her (then) life story. She is so good in it!

I thought it was based more on Gelsey Kirkland!!

Daisy Q How do you know that it’s her story?
@mariannesouza83264 жыл бұрын
@@DarkaDusty No, Gelsey Kirkland was originally supposed to play the role Leslie Browne played, but due to substance abuse issues, Kirkland was replaced.

Wow, I miss the work. The technical pieces of ballet training. I mean I loved performing of course but my passion lay in just getting in the studio & working every day which I think is common for a lot of corps de ballet dancers. They’re not as competitive & are just happy to be training with these other stars. Its a true privilege

Would love to hear more about working with hypermobile feet... I sometimes teach students with these and they find pointe very difficult... beautiful gorgeous feet, but tricky to work with...

Eye4dance Leslie and I are in agreement that strength training is everything and cross training like Pilates and Plyometrics is essential.

I'm a bit surprised hyper extended knees aren't mentioned as these are both a huge problem for hypermobile dancers but also highly desired and are unobtainable for non hypermobile dancers. Arches and extension can be improved by anyone with work and all the technique points and strengthening in this video applies to all students.

I remember her in The Turning Pointe. She is still beautiful.....huge brown eyes and red hair. Her dancing was outstanding. Beautiful lines.

Hi, I’ve recently started pointe and have re-sewn my shoes several times to fix mistakes. I’ve gotten the placement down pretty well, but after a class or two my thread and ribbons/elastic pull away from my shoes and snap off. I was wondering if I need a different type of thread or if there’s a specific way to sew them that would make it stronger. Thank you!

Tired Ballerina thanks for watching, interesting dilemma. I always suggest piercing the outer layer of the fabric instead of just stitching through the inner layer. Some dancers use the bunheads stitch kit and some use unwaxed dental floss. I had success with Coats brand thread cotton, not polyester.
