The idea of a pilot being too anxious to say the plane's crashing made me ugly laugh.
@jackalope033 жыл бұрын
honestly though in highschool I learned about an actual plane that crashed because of this exact reason. I think the pilots were Japanese, flying in America, and the difference in how Americans spoke threw them off (not language, but like tone and directness and levels of respect) and the pilots were too awkward to directly tell the air control folks that they were gonna crash until it was too late.

Pointlessly gendered: My whole language. okay, here's the thing, my main language is Hebrew, and EVERYTHING is gendered. There is rarely any phrase that isn't gendered. I want - gendered I see - gendered I'll check - gENDERED- the literal only word that is not gendered at all is I. that's it. You is gendered, it is gendered, even them is gendered. There's always options, but not enough, just female and male. Which is why I rarely speak Hebrew. also i would like to say my favorite pronoun is either bee/bees or void/voidself. I think my favorite pronoun is “they” (in English) because it can be used as a gender neutral pronoun, usable not only for non-binary people but for situations where you don’t know the gender of the person. In my language, Portuguese, there’s no such thing like that, there’s only “she” and “he”, even for objects (same with other romance languages like Spanish, Italian and French).
@boja88752 жыл бұрын

@@boja8875 nope :\ the plurals are also gendered. And if you ask “but what if there are both men and women in a group? How do we refer to that group?” The answer is “masculine plural”, the male gender prevails over the female in those cases. Ex: - two brothers / they -> dois irmãos/ eles - two sisters / they -> duas irmãs/ elas - two siblings (a brother and a sister) / they -> dois irmãos / eles - Many siblings (9 sisters and 1 brother) / they -> muitos irmãos / eles

They seemed to be offended by that- even though I said I'd use it? I'm a very straightforward guy, when my parents told them that I was transgender, they said, "It won't affect what we get her for Christmas because she'll still love it anyway! And don't let her use pronouns, that's controlling you!" (Apparently when a child asks you to respect something, it doesn't have to be pronouns, they say, "It's controlling the parents!" So having a kid speak up to a parent is TOTAL control but it's okay for parents to have complete control of whatever your child says to you... That really doesn't sound good.

@@jamesthompson248 I'm a guy, and I like dinos more in like art and themes, but if I had to choose one to meet, I'd choose the unicorn, one, cause I don't wanna be eaten, no matter how cute the tiny dinos are, and two, cause fuck yeah, like irl I'd def choose a unicorn, I just so often see it associated with girly stuff instead of metal stuff, and I'm a trans guy so that's uncomfortable, which is also weird because I'm nonconforming, and like wearing skirts isn't weird, but unicorns just make me uncomfortable in art and decor after years of that stuff being pushed on me and implied that I have to like it, as well as dysphoria. However, if I see unicorns portrayed as badass, I'm all in. Like, a metal band with a unicorn mascot? Fuck yeah. It's not the creature, it's the association society places on it. It sucks.

i think my favorite weirdly gendered thing is when i went to the store and i saw coffee for men which was just straight black coffee in a grey cup and then coffee for women which was like a caramel macchiato in a pink and sparkly cup- so apparently coffee has gender now and as a agender person i guess i can no longer drink it

Idk if this is relevant but in Vietnam we have a pronoun to use informally and only to people around your age (nó). It sounds funny to me and it's gender-neutral yay
@Meeko4eve393 жыл бұрын
@@cheesemainaim Oh that is actually pretty cool. Is it like a 2nd person singular pronoun that you use to directly address the person you're speaking with? Like in English "you" (singular)? Or do you use it referring to a third person in a sentence the way he/she (and singular they) work? Like, do you use nó while directly speaking to the person you're addressing with the pronoun? Or does it refer to someone else that might not actually be there with you as you speak to each other about that person? If it's like singular "you" in English the whole "it's informal and for people of your own age" thing reminds me of how we make a distinction between informal "du" (= singular "you") and formal "Sie" (= singular "you", but formal and usually the go-to pronoun to use with people older than you, at least when you first meet them) in German.
@cheesemainaim3 жыл бұрын
@@Meeko4eve39 It's the pronoun for a third person (like he/she). We use it for nearly everything: people, plants, etc. But of course we don't use a pronoun we use for a plant for anyone older than us or else that'd be very disrespectful!

*7:56* Horse riding takes a lot of leg strength. I've only had like 3 lessons, but it was exhausting, so I disagree. I bet it's easier than if you ran the course yourself and it is for sure more work for the horse than the person riding, but can confirm it's more than just sitting while trying to stay on.
@laurelmountain94693 жыл бұрын
I've literally been riding for 7 years and for people who don't ride its so infuriating to watch them be like "oh you just hold on" no you dont its actually really difficult. No hate, just trying to educate.(lol that rhymes)
@sarahmorris1212 жыл бұрын
Yeah lol I don’t hear that a lot but when I do, I don’t even try and explain it because until you sit a bucking horse spooking through a flat class in the middle of a show I feel people don’t really get what horse-riding REALLY is. You know?
