I met Rikki in 1983 in the Merton, Harrisburg PA. The following year, he had the courage to get out of this town and go for it. Just look at what would have been lost if he stayed here. An amazing talent, and killer drummer.
@jenniferanne41439 ай бұрын
Most Poison songs are pretty straight forward rockers, so you only get to hear Rikki do a few fills here and there and maybe a big ending of fills. So its so cool when he does his solo, and really goes crazy on drums !

It’s amazing how many drummer incorporate Neil Pearts solo into their own.
@apieceofdirt46813 жыл бұрын
Hahahaha I was thinking the same thing. That said, he has improved since his heyday. A lot. Personally I wish he was this good back in the day. Maybe I would’ve taken them more serious as musicians than pretty boys.

More than an influence, it seems like a full-fledged plagiarism, although it must be recognized that even plagiarizing Neil is not easy at all.

I always took him for a Peter Criss level drummer. But he actually has some chops. This definitely reminded me of parts of Neil’s solos.

One of the most underrated drummers ever. Not because hes the 'best drummer ever", but hes waaaay better than he gets credit for. (Thats what underrated means, btw).

A surprisingly decent drummer. Definitely much better than one would expect being "Poison's drummer."
@kevincady56139 жыл бұрын
basically a watered down version of Peart's early 90's solo compilation which by todays standards is pretty basic stuff. Check out Steve Lange or Dylan Elise latest to see where drumming has progressed to . . it will blow you away.

every musicians have their own individual and way of how to express themselves through their music.it's not always about how fast how diffcult or compllicated u can perform or play however it goes with his passion and enthusiasm combined.yet of course the long period of hard working on his drum.if his playing touches the bottom of someone's mind then he's already successful.the most delicious foods aren't always made by the expensive ingredients!!!
@sergioponce13176 жыл бұрын
exactly, to each its own.
@magicman3225 жыл бұрын
This is rock-solid by any standard in any era and fits the band and crowd he's playing to. Judging him fairly? Not even close. But hey, there's a elitist dick in every crowd ready to take a Poison cheap shot so, I'm not blown away by that.

@Carriesaglock3 жыл бұрын
This is way better than any Tommy Lee solo I ever saw. Tommy Lee is barely mediocre.
@evomink3 жыл бұрын
@@Carriesaglock Ok sure… Because Rikki is known for being such a virtuoso. Honestly, I like them both, but you cannot compare the two when it comes to musicianship and showmanship. Tommy wins every time. He flew his drums through arenas on a roller coaster for god sakes. He is also known for being a solid musician. Rikki had to have professional drummers come in and play his parts while recording Look What The Cat Dragged In.
@GGBundy11 жыл бұрын
Is this Rikki Rockett?? He's actually a decent drummer. I guess now he's older and he ain't got those silly outfits and makeup on, he can NOW concentrate on being a decent musician.
