I’m not gonna lie, I really never got into hair-glam Metal, But being a drummer my self I actually have lots of respect for this dude. I like his showmanship and it’s nice to see him with out all that makeup. Rock on RR!!!

Rikki Rocket you rock and so does poison! I graduated in 86, so I’ve rocked to you guys for decades! You guys rule! I’d love to see you guys when you come to KC. Sadly I can’t afford. I’m a disabled veteran on a very tight budget. I’ve been watching all the newest videos from your 2022 stadium tour. You boys have been killing it in my opinion. You guys should be alternating every 3rd night to head line. You guys are just as awesome as any other band on this tour!!! Never stop rokking Rikki and the boys! Rock is not DEAD!!!!

Rikki is such a good dude. I guess it was 1998 or so. Found Rikki on the net and sent him an email. Asking for advice about a situation with a guitar player we had in a band I was in at the time. He actually responded and told me the story of Matt Smith, Poisons original guitar player. It was so cool to that he replied and got back with me on the email. That he took the time to have the discussion. Really speaks highly of Rikki to take his time to talk to fans and other players. Well we as a band took his advice. We had to replace our other guitar player. Kept playing and was lucky enough to get a deal with RCA. Anyhow I’ll never forget Rikki taking his time to communicate with me way back when, and how solid his advice was. Rikki is the real deal folks.

I took up drums seriously in 1986 as a 15 yr old because of Rikki, and still playing Poison today at 51 years old. Still look up to this cat. Thanks for posting this vid. For me, it’s super cool snd means SO much what gear Rikki is using. 🇨🇦👍🏼

I remember seeing Poison in Columbus, Ga in March of 1991, when they had Slaughter opening up for them. I was only 15 years old then. I remember Rikki's drum solo. He sat at the top of the stage with I believe, just a snare, and maybe a kick drum. The rest of the kit came down from the ceiling. I was sitting next to the side of the stage, and had the best view of Rikki. The pyrotechnics were a little too close for comfort at times, lol!!! But it was a very good show. I'll always remember that.

I play in my worship band at church. I have always argued that we don’t need to tape the heck out of the drum heads. If you have to do that you’re masking another issue. I love the bottom heads that you’re using! Your kit sounds amazing! Keep making the videos I love them!

I never had an opinion on Ricky Rocket, but now I do. Respect. He's more than a guy making sounds in a rock band. He understands how it works. And he taught me something new today. Also humble guy. The kind of guy I could have a conversation with. I may not be a Poison fan. But I think I might be a Ricky Rocket fan. Subscribed.

Rikki the kit looks and sounds GREAT!!! I’m digging the 16”/18” floor tom setup. The port hole in bottom head is best solution to cut down on decay and reverberations. The 16”/18” floor toms deliver on the bottom end with round tone perfect for live performance. I agree/concur with clear/clear dot heads for focused attack. The Sabian Paragon cymbals great choice, 15” hats definitely can feel to sloshy, it can be very fine line. The kick drum sounding great sitting in mix nicely, guessing those are 24”. The impact patch on snare very cool design. DW kits are top notch. They have made great kits for you past, and the tradition continues. I was surprised you used 5000, kick pedals. I loved my DW 5000 pedal/hihat stand combo. Bought mine used together package deal. Never gave me issues. So many professionals use 9000, glad to see 5000 series getting some love. Sennheiser mics strong choice, AKG mics ,especially the Kick drum mics, have great bass response in my experience . Give em a honest listen, worst that happens you switch back to faithful Sennheiser’s. Do you use and triggers or samples for layering?? Would you consider Roland TM-6pro???? TM-6 could run your reference click as well. Very reliable hardware

That is one cool thing about DW, it's the many different choices of wood they utilize in making their drums. Almond Wood drumset, pretty sure DW is the only drum manufacturer to use almond. That's really cool. Another way to reduce floor tom resonance is take on or two of the legs and turn them upside down. Sounds crazy, but it works. And thanks for the tips you passed along.

I have been a Rockett fan since their LWCDI debut. I studied every chop and often incorporate the double snare flam in alot of my playing (it's a nice addition to the 4/4). One of the realest things that drummers do is at the 5:02 mark. hitting sticks together during a fill. It's refreshing to see that even the pros do it :). I wonder, are there other 'drumming actions' that Rikki does that us weekend warriors do as well? (ex. I hit my pointer finger middle joint on the edge of my floor tom rim 6-8 times a show. It hurts!) Lol. 😁
