The lead singer in my first band’s mom worked for a concert promoter so we all got free tix for a Poison concert one time. We were really only interested in going to see Tesla as the opening act. Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised- they put on a good show and they knew how to entertain. They were a classic case of “Fake it til ya make it”.

@TX1234123 жыл бұрын
@@joehobbs3277 I never understood why those alt bands got a pass, it's more like soundscapes, modern art of music, no real great melody. I give ramones a pass for that same reason of johnny's downstrokes, invented a sound and style that many copied. Joey's vocal melodies would work well put to piano music. Ramones song mama's boy part where Johnny actually does a pull off on a single note, teen spirit copies that note sound. Another thing with glam, those guys are all over the stage and still playing good while the alt bands are lingering around in heavy concentration of playing something simple and what should be effortless. This producer being interviewed mentioned Poison's "drummer" and you know well he probably remember Rikki's name, just had to do that for sake of being more of a jerk. Also when glam bands wrote serious songs, something to believe, house of pain, 18 and life...the lyrics are outstanding and not just party stuff.

Funny thing, when I discovered your channel, I skipped the interviews which I thought would not be interesting. Come to find out, they all are, and I’ll find myself on a Chris Holmes kick, or a Ric Browdie kick, etc……

It's weird to hear a producer so completely trash 90% of the stuff he made a living on. I get if he had to sue Poison he'd throw them under the bus, but he's just pissing on everyone as being unworthy. Honestly, it's not a good look. I have to assume he's one of those guys who speaks in binary terms: Amazing and Terrible. There's no in between which simply isn't how the world works. Bruce Swedien was that way. Spoke about everything in superlatives. Exquisite. Gorgeous. Terrible. Unusable. I'm a retired recording engineer from L.A. and I worked with plenty of bands who require a lot of punch-ins and edits. That's the way it goes. Very, very, very few people are 1 or 2 take perfection. I saw Poison live back in the day. Rikki Rocket may not be Neil Peart but he was completely solid and nowhere near "terrible." The Faster Pussycat record was killer front to back and remains a favorite from the era.

It's not just Poison. He rips WASP, Faster Puasycat who he also produced
Are you serious? FP were terrible. GnR wannabes with 20% of gnrs talent. Taime had a shit voice.

People hating on Browde for hating on Poison. The members of Poison don’t even like each other. Why the hell would he like them?🤷♂️👍🥃

"We opened up the music business. We removed the barrier. The barrier to entry used to be able to sing in tune and have talent and we removed that, and that's a good thing." Imagine thinking that! Foh.

It's obvious there are sour grapes with this dude. As deep in the industry as this guy supposedly was, it's surprising how out of touch with the scene and trends he was. No wonder nobody's heard of him. He missed the bandwagon so many times and he's sour about it.

Ric Browde is a pretty big producer, not sure what you're talking about.

These bands really do kind of suck, the producers had much to do with the success of bands like crue and poison, seen them both multiple times. They are shit.

Search here for (Rockcandy Live In Toronto 1988). Phil Collen of Def Leppard joins the band on stage for one song. Also search here for (Sucker For a Pretty Face) by RockCandy, it's a great under rated rare (1987) album. Also search here for (Sinful Demo Album 1985) featuring Nuno Bettencourt B4 Extreme & Joey Anes B4 Rockcandy. Enjoy the show & the music!!!!

I bought that Rock Candy cassette at the mall based purely on the cover. It was cheap, $5.99 I believe, and I remember thinking it was ok.

I liked the first Poison due to the trashy nature of it. When they did Open Up and Say Ah it was waaay too professional.

smashed gladys. new nothing of them. but I to used to shop the pawn shops and the musiclands for hard to find CD's (in the western U.S.). never came across them (but noticed it sold very well on ebay....I kind of tracked completed ebay auctions to see what stuff was selling well). but there was some good stuff (late 80's) I came across while shopping. trouble, rhinobucket, hurricane, cold sweat, keel, femme fatale, tyketto, MSG, madame x, tuff, etc). it's a shame that CD's went out of fashion. no money in it now.

I'm blessed to be longtime friends with Madam X. Chris Doliber and Maxine Petrucci owned a bar in the middle of Michigan's Upper Peninsula called the Tumble Inn. Great place. I was the house photographer so got to shoot everybody that played there back in 96-01. Dio, Vince Neil, Slaughter, Warrant, Vixen, etc. Wonderful times.

Whoa! I've missed the rules to rock n roll. Can someone point me to that link? If you like something, you'll listen, go to the show, buy the album, etc. Just an opinion but how does more in depth or technical musical talent work on LWTCDI or make the album better? It wouldn't! The target audience was not and is not virtuoso nerds. There is a market for that stuff, not every band will be a fit. Having said all of this I will say 1 thing. Of all the poison albums this is the worst produced one. Now, how's that sum it all up?

Well said, this guy’s just bitter cause they upgraded to Tom Werman and Bruce Fairbairn after him and sold even more albums.
