Brett Michaels (Lead Singer) donates a portion of his proceeds to a vet organization, in every city he does a concert in. He also donates to local Diabetes charities, because he is a life long diabetic. He is a HUGE supporter, of our military/vets. A little info on this video: During the song, when he sings about his friend dying, he didn't know they were going to play video of the guy. They wanted his pure reaction to it, and it said he truly cried. Brett gets a lot of crap, from a lot of people, but he is a good guy, who gives a lot, and has almost died a few times. I believe God has some kind of plan for this man.

The best friend was also his personal security guy, which is why you see him leading Bret out, he killed himself. I met Bret once at a concert and I have to say he was the most down to earth and nicest person I've ever met. It was before the concert and he took the time to have a conversation with me when he would have been getting ready for the show. After the show he invited everyone out to his bus to sign autographs for them, this was a very small venue in Nashville when he was doing solo shows. One other thing, media has portrayed Bret as being a hardcore party guy and even suggested he shoots up and this story came from someone who was interviewing him backstage one time when he was actually giving himself an insulin shot, they claimed he was shooting up. He doesn't do drugs, and I don't think he drinks (if he does it's not much) mainly because of his diabetes, he has been type 1 diabetic since he was 6 yrs old, and from what he told me, he has to keep constant control over it. (I'm a type 2 diabetic so we talked about it)

The part about his friend dying really happened to him. It was a security guard for his group. He’s watching the clips they show while he’s singing. The director inserted clips of his friend and he ended up having to take a break cause it was too painful. You can see the real emotion in his eyes during that verse.

What’s even worse is that it’s been debated and “worked on” for many decades now. Yet veteran suicides and homelessness rises exponentially every year 😢. As someone who served, I can definitely say that I wish I had more influence to create some kind of change for my fellow vets. This song damn near makes me cry every time and is one of the many reasons why Poison is my favorite band of all time.

Here’s a little fact about this song. When he is singing the verse about his best friend dying, that really happened. It was his bodyguard. If you notice during this part of the video, he gets emotional and actually stops “singing” for a few seconds. It’s because it had not been that long since his friend had passed and he did not know that they were going to show the video of him. It caught him off guard.

Thank you so much. Music is how I express myself and how I work through things. My girls are the same way. I am trying so hard to find something positive to grab a hold of. Me and my daughter was going to the store when he was still on life support and we prayed together and ask God for a sign that he would be ok. Not even 1 min later a deer jumped out in front of us and we hit it going 57 mph. It completely totaled the car. Then my husband passed the next week. And last week my other daughter's dog got attacked by 3 coyotes and he died the next morning. They grew up together and he was her best friend and he was the only thing that was giving her comfort. Some people say it's just a dog. To us they are people also. He was my son in my eyes. So it's dark place bad right now and all of you guys prayers and thoughts help more than you could ever imagine

A few facts from an old poison buff on how this song was written this was during the time when Jim Baker got caught , Bret has always advocated respect for the military and they even sent care packages to the guys oversees out if pocket, his best friend was his bodyguard kimo that really happened and when they first came to L.A they lived in an abandoned warehouse so they were actually homeless at first and they worked really hard to get where they got in the hayday if hairmetal they used to spend all day putting flyers on cars for whatever gig they were playing. I guess I've bored you enough Positive energy 👌 for you mam . I hope you find your something to believe in

I've learned to trust in the Lord. Lost my job when the company I worked for didn't get their contract renewed. I wasn't worried at first. Have experience, great references and a good attendance record. 7 months later I've only had 1 interview in spite of uncountable applications. My unemployment had run out and my savings was gone. (I'm over 60 and found out that age discrimination does exist) My sister was ill and needed help so I was going to her apartment 4 days a week (had to borrow gas money). One night on my way home I'm crying as I drove, praying and begging God for help. Finally I just told the Lord I'd done everything I could so I was putting it in His hands, placing all my trust in Him. Felt immediate relief and 2 days later I received 3 job offers! Trust in the Lord and never give up hope!

First I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and hugs that has been sent. They are greatly appreciated and very much felt. You have no idea how much it actually helps me knowing all of you are here for me and my girls in this time. If I am ever needed for any of you guys I am here 100 percent. I tried to thank you each personally in your comments and if I missed anyone please believe that it was not intended. I love you all and i am sending a most powerful hugs to all of you! Billy, please don't stress about what you are not able to do. Just you being there and playing this for me is more than I could ask for. Darlin you are like an answered prayer. You are so kind and caring for all of us. I can only pray that we fans make you feel the same way. Thank you so much for all of your support. Just you being willing to accept my letters and listen to me pour my heart out is more than enough. It's really been a difficult time. Like I told a person in the comments, when Nicky was on life support me and Phoebe was going to town and prayed together for God to give us a sign that he would be ok. Not even 1 min later a deer jumped in front of us and we hit it going 57 mph. Totaled the car. Nicky passed a week later. Last week my other daughters dog got attacked by 3 coyotes and he died the next morning. A lot of people say it's just a dog but to us they are people too. He was her best friend. They grew up together and he was the only thing getting her through this. So yea dark place majorly right now. But this video and this comment thread is so powerful to me and my girls. It is very inspiring and we can feel all the hug, prayers, and thoughts coming to us. And you done that Billy. And I am internally grateful. Thank you so much. And with much love. And by the way...that is a perfect shirt to do this reaction in lol. Love it!

Billy, you are so right when you said that when feeling like you need something and you pray for something to make things feel better, we do that when we feel at our lowest. But that something happens when you least expect it. I think it can be anything that suddenly makes a person feel better. For example a small gesture from a stranger who said hello, a dog that comes up to you and wags its tail, sometimes just the smallest thing makes a person feel better. That is why I believe in kindness. I could be in a store and someone is rude, like anyone else my first thought is "What a jerk". But I came to realize that a person being "a jerk" might just be having a hard time. I am not saying that being an ass is acceptable.....just try kindness before reacting. You can be surprised how that person reacts.

I was on a med cruise when my nephew was born. I was on another med cruise when my niece was born and then my other nephew was born. 30 days later he died. SIDS. Being military is not easy to begin with but then going home you have changed so much that making connections with the people you used to be close to is impossible. I am no longer close to my best friend because we grew in completely different ways. she married and had three kids. I traveled the world and grew a navy potty mouth. just different. Condolences Laura.

Truly a gem. Especially the part of his best friend/bodyguard dying and getting the news on Christmas Eve. You can see the pain on his face watching the clips.
