this stage was a last minute additon, the devs just grabbed a bunch of pokéstadium 2 models, threw them in a skybox and called it a day lol. (they’re not even really floats? the japanese name of the stage is “pokémon subspace”, interpret that how you will) but it’s still one of my favorites because of the trippy-ness.

It makes sense. I guess they decided not to make another Kanto/Johto city since it would look too similar to both Earthbound stages. But they still wanted another PKMN stage in the game, so the Floats was the last minute solution. I agree it was the right call. I love it too, especially the part when Goldeen appears.

The music is almost the complete Kanto battle package. Something about the choice of instruments and the dramatic flair makes me think of psychic types and of either Mewtwo or Sabrina in particular.

Sure; perhaps if the AI-programming and coding can be refined and polished (such that the AI doesn't simply just descend to beyond the bottom portion of the stage whilst on one of the Poke floats, like it quite often and quite regularly does in Smash Bros. Melee, almost like a glitch [certainly an unintended one]).

This is still the most fluent seamless pokemon medley ive heard. Most of the other ones ive heard, the seperate themes inside change the mood too much. Which isnt terrible, just not as fitting for an intense match. This just keeps the feeling of the song rolling.
