They really should've made sure everyone had access to create routes before releasing zygarde.. for a few weeks a lot of people just couldnt get cells unless they drove 30+ minutes to the one route in their city

This! That was me and my husband, we didn't have access to a route without driving to the next town for at least a month, maybe two. We finally have a local route now but the slow rollout of the feature really killed the excitement of it for us. Honestly Niantic slowrolling features and updates is just a problem in general. Another example is my husband has the beautiful, clean new tasks interface, and I'm still stuck with the old scroll of doom "today" tab. It's so irritating that I can see the better UI right next to me but for some unkonw reason he has it and I don't (same game version and all so it isn't an update issue).

After my 10% Zygarde is a 11 10 15 I'm not really motivated to get the cells for the 100% form, even though here are many routes. Maybe over time I'm gonna have the 250 cells when we get a second Zygarde or Shiny from Kalos tour or when it appears in Raids.

It would be, but I just wish that they either let us trade the 10% form or let us get more Zygardes. I have a 11-10-11 IV Zygarde and because of that, I also don’t feel compelled to get Zygarde cells either unless changes are made.

Same, at least you have one at 15,my Zygarde is 13 11 12. Not bad, but hardly exciting or motivating to put in the massive grind when I know if I encounter some who got lucky with their IVs I'm just plain SoL. I almost wish Niantic would introduce some kind of system that you could earn that would let you "reroll" stats for mythicals like zygarde and meleotta.

Completely fine with rare pokemon like the ones mentioned in the video. Everyone gets a Zygarde, everyone can get the complete form, it just takes work. Kudos to those that have done that already. Limited time catches like Carbink are fine too because in PoGo everything comes back around. You don't have to have a Zygarde to play ML and you don't have to have a Carbink to play GL. There are plenty of good pokemon to build good teams without them. The issues I have are rarity behind paywalls. Keldeo comes to mind because you can't complete a part of the game (platinum medal) unless they pay up.

I feel like it's even more demoralizing when something like zygarde is at the highest caliber but can only be obtained once. It's the best pokemon in ml but if you pull a 10/10/10 from research, sucks to suck i guess It would be great if cells were less of a hassle to get and players could obtain more zygardes (both for candy and possibly better ivs). Imo, if a few changes were made to routes regarding zygarde, they'd be much more rewarding to do: 1. Grant cells when finishing a route, rather than having players look around on the map. They're easy to miss since they're just specs of light and feels bad to get none when walking a route 2. Grant more cells from a route depending on its badge level. Iirc, you can only get cells from a rouet the first time completing it that day. This would further reward doing the same route multiple times a day since you can level it up and get more cells the next day 3. Make cells and route spawns not lower one or the other. It doesn't make any sense to reduce the cells you get because you get a route spawn. There should be more route spawns in general (to make them more worth doing) and having spawns shouldn't reduce the cells you get at the end of a route 4. Make 10% zygarde rarely spawn along routes. This allows players to get some candy and possibly better ivs. Catching zygarde could also grant a few cells

you forgot that zygarde cells dont always spawn when you do routes, I've completed well over 150 routes with less than 75 cells seen

The tricks Niantic pulls to make some Pokemon feel exclusive or difficult to get feels so aggravating sometimes. This is coming from someone who caught a 3-star Galar Zapdos in an ultra ball within 3 months after the G-birds debuted, hatched a hundo Larvesta, raided a 14/14/15 Rockruff day 1 of Dusk Lycanroc’s debut, and was rewarded a shiny Sleeping Hat Costume Snorlax for buying a Go Plus+… yet it took me 4 years and over 1000 encounters to simply find my first wild shiny Vulpix, and 13 months after that Zapdos to catch a Galar Moltres without using a master ball. Meanwhile, I know my life will never take me to the southern US, or Mexico, to ever find a Hawlucha in it’s normal spawning area, but Bouffalant is so commonplace where I live that I barely catch them anymore. As a bonus, there aren’t many routes where I live, so doing the same easily-accessible routes over and over just to get 1-2 cells total per month is just depressing. Odds and rarity can be very confusing, sometimes.

I am errked by the XL requirements of most pokemon that are rare occurrences and agree that newcomers are going to run into a wall when they realize these requirements. I liked the video format.

I find a Galarian Bird in summer 2022, without knowing I can see one of these pokemon. And it was at this time, a huge motivation to me to use daily adventure incense, each day. I have seen 4 of each of them and capture 2 (one with master ball). It will be nice if we can see some rare pokemon without incense.

As a new player who recently started the game again few months ago (I had this app back in 2016 and never touched since). It’s refreshing to play the past few months but you’re right, it’s hard to fight against Carbink or some of the other pokemon I may not have collected 😂

Great video. I feel there is a problem as well. One other pokemon to include in this Rising Rarity category would be gimmighoul/Goldengho. You either have to have a Nintendo Switch and a copy of Scarlet/Violet for the "faster" way of getting the 999 coins needed or know a trainer who can activate a golden lure for the "slower" way. I'm an OG player and I don't feel motivated for this kind of grind.... on any of these. Even the G birds. I feel like if I'm going for them I have to exclude every other gameplay feature in the game. For example, raiding, trading, PvP, battling gyms and ignoring non incense spawns.

I think the reason people are upset with the wild spawns is because they revolve around events. Dont need ice types? Sucks to be playing during the christmas time then. Ive said it before but event spawns should not replace the usual spawns but spawn independent of them

The good thing with Zygarde, is anyone can walk for 83days and get the complete form, other mons when they get released paying players always have a way of getting more/quicker. Mewtwo or Rayquaza, maybe free2play players get 1 or 2, so the odds of getting good ivs or a shiny are low. Then having to walk 20km for each candy, since you wont get much rare candy doing a few raids a week. But day 1, paid players with stacks of rare candies insta max level it. Zygarde rewards the grind P.s. im only at 20 cells lol

EDIT: "Unfair" would be if the Pokemon wasn't available to everyone with the same level of effort. It's 100% fair, just do the work, earn it. Pokemon Go is super easy and shinies and rares are too common. Rising rarity is one of the best things they've done with this game, especially with concepts like the Galarian Birds. These are LEGENDARY Pokemon ffs.

Right there with you. As someone who played pokemon as a kid and came back in 2016 with pogo I sometimes still don't like that I've been able to catch hundreds of Mewtwos. Larvesta has been mentioned a few times here but it isn't blocked from people getting it, you just have to incubate eggs and you will get one eventually. I just have trouble with ones you can't get unless you pay (i.e. Keldeo).

I was in that situation all summer, it was only a month or two ago that I think one of the level 40 players in the area must have submitted a route and it got accepted so we finally have one nearby. If you don't have one nearby, yeah then that definitely makes the Zygarde thing unfair. And that's 100% of Niantic problem and they're fixation on slow rolling features.

My biggest problem with pokemon being “rare” is when they are not available at a regular pace. Zarude for example is an extremely strong Master League pokemon, but was only available for like a week 3 years ago. Didnt get one or got one with bad ivs? Too bad so sad The primals and mega rayquaza I think qualify for this as well since they are the strongest pokemon in the raid scene but were only available twice (once for rayquaza). Personally my solution would be to have event tickets in the web store that function as a “well you missed the normal event, give us a few bucks and you can experience the quest too”. It incentivizes players to be around during the actual event while not greatly punishing the people who werent around

​@that's definitely their plan but it's not as bad compared to other games. Also if everything is available all the time then it would be unfair to the loyal players. I think all they want is for players to be aware of the events even if they're not playing everyday. For instance with mega Rayquaza, you could get enough mega energy in less than an hour. Unless it was your wedding day on that specific weekend or some major event there's no way you dont even have a moment to spare. You could remote raid while eating lunch and get all the mega energy you need

My concern about zygarde is despite doing a few routes a day, im lucky to get one cell. It pisses me off to no end doing a route and getting jipped a cell. Esp when its a long route.

Yes. I don't mind the zygarde cells as they are an incentive to do routes but they are so rare that it actually makes you give up on routes instead. They should make that you get like 3 cells (max 9 per day) guaranteed per route instead of 1 cell per route if you are lucky.

I been hunting galarian bird's daily for a year or so till I got all 3. With origin form dialga coming out it feels like they will de-value those birds again since you can get more than 15mins of daily incense a day... As you said "things get less and less rare over time"😅

I find that the harder to get mons is what Niantic is striving for to go out and hunt for them. Zygarde is the best example, you have to complete routes to collect cells, The birds, have to use daily incense ( too rare of encounter ), however they are releasing the shadow forms with in person raids so to make friends in your own neighborhood. I am for this rarity model.

As a returning player, haven't played since 2018, picked up the game again last summer. I will not be able to get a zarude, cosmog, hoopa for a long while which is very frustrating. Why can't they be like the mew, jirachi, celebi, victini, meltan researches ....it's very upsetting tbh

Rockruff event was especially ridiculous. There wasn't a single Rockruff raid anywhere round where I live for the whole event, and I didn't get a single 2km egg drop from any stop nearby, only 5km and 10km. There also wasn't a single task at any of my local stops that rewarded Rockruff, and only a couple of the Sneasel and Growlithe ones, the majority were non-event tasks. I've noticed it's becoming worse and worse with each event. Everything is locked behind paying, clearly needing more passes, more incubators or whatever to do stuff in time. The burst out and flee rates have both also been vastly increased lately, so that you run down on balls and berries more and have to restock. And personally, haven't got a single shiny from any raid days or raids in general, and every single one has been 2*... obviously intentionally to make you do more and more raids... Lost interest tbh.

To be fair (speaking as a VERY casual player), if someone just starts and dives into trainer battles- they’re doin it wrong anyway. Take me for example, again… I’m not motivated by legendaries, I’ve got like 1, I think, maybe not- anyway, I see them around and getting one would be nice, but I’m more motivated by shiny’s. I accidentally caught a shiny Sneezel over Christmas and that made my day, I got 2 shiny Cyndawuil’s and I’m happy, I’m chasing a shiny Eevee or 4 and I love the chase, and I’ve got 3 more shiny’s. Are they PVP ready? No- but I don’t do PVP so I don’t care, it’s all about finding your own motivation. I got the 10% Zygarde, am I motivated to get the 50 or 100%? No, no I’m not. I work 3 jobs and don’t have the time to do routs, but the 10% is enough for me, I’ve made it work

As someone who plays casually, and i asked my group of friends as well, since we arn't optimizing or finding the best pokemon, im complety fine with the accesibility for the strong pokemon when it comes to raids. Though i do agree that accesibility to pokemon when it comes to competative modes like PVP should always be available. Having that idea of a super strong rare pokemon that i might be able to get with a group of people in the future does get me excited though. Regardless if im able to get it or not, but even if its hard to get it does serve as a motivator. But again this is from someone who only picks up pokemon go like once or twice a week when i head outside. And friends who play similarly.

I just got my Pokédex Moltres (Shadow) on Rowlet Community Day on the very last throw :) Finally got to 50 Zygarde cells, but not sure if I want to upgrade. Mine is 13/15/14, but if/when it comes to raids and I get a hundo or shiny, I would want to upgrade that as well, so I would have to start the cell grind all over. They need to make Zygarde cells available in other ways as well (especially since some players don't even have access to routes).

TBH, as a returning player (played a bit in 2016, and a bit in 2021), I'm not super worried about the ultra rare pokemon. What I find unbelievably annoying is looking up which pokemon are decent to get started with in raiding, and EVERY damn mon listed is unavailable at this time. Even the ones that everyone says are great budget options cause "they spawn in the wild". Except no they don't, not in this season.

My biggest issue isn't with rare pokemon. As someone who played like season 1 and then got back into it about a year ago. There's just so many pokemon that when there's an event or season going on all you see are those pokemon. All you see are the seasonal pokemon and that's it making it basically impossible to finish off research for months. If I go to the beach, I should be able to see all types of water pokemon from multiple generations, not just the ones Niantic wants to promote at that time

THIS! Spawns should be loosely based on "habitats" not saying they can only spawn at a said location, but they should spawn more at that location. Beach more water types, a park maybe some grass and normal. Urban normal and poison, Etc.

I’ve definitely noticed this too. As a dad with 4 boys in the house and a full time job I do not have the time to put into the ridiculous tasks we have to do to get some of the new Pokemon like Zygarde, the coin ghost thing, or the galarian birds. Luckily, if you wait long enough Niantic will eventually hand it out to everyone. And as a player from 2016, I do have the patience to wait for that.

There is a lot of PVP pokemons for whcih you need to grind for about two years to perform on level 25 or higher. There are several grind pathes: 1) grind for better IV, including IV of shadow pokemons 2) grind for XL candies catching pokemons 3) grind for xl candies from budy pokemon 4) wait for specail events e.g. hellowin 5) wait and grind special mega that you need to grind for XL candies 5) grind as cursed for BB and 51 level 6) grind for players 40 level (to allow pokemon achieve 50 level) 7) trades (there are no trades for batches) 8) reviewing pokemons for IV is also kind of grind even when we use CalcIv. This game can't be recommended to anyone. I close to hate myself for trying "to achive my PVP goals".

The thing about zygard is that it’s accessible to everyone so that’s the good part. You just have to grind and you’ll suck at pvp for a while but once u get it you’ll have a better Pokémon to start on your pvp battles

My gripe with Zygarde is that you have to follow a specific route and take the time out of your day… and you’re not even guaranteed to find one like- how’s that fair? Routes can be as rural if you’re not lvl 40 or there’s no one visiting your area who is. I get it’s free and all but it’s so much hassle and you’re not even guaranteed to find any.

I like things being rare and not having to pay for anything. rarity gives a reason to grind and play the game. nowadays it seems like the game is moving towards shiny shadow with full IV pokemon to be the top rarity thing, and it's good honestly

My problem isn’t with things being rare and broken as much as fully limited and broken, for carbink or a Galarian bird you can grind every day to try to get them and trade people for them, but for zygarde there’s only one that you get and it can’t be traded so it’s impossible to grind to get one that’s better than the random one you got in your account. Since I started playing in 2019 I have only seen the galarian birds 2 times. 1 Zapdos and 1 Moltres that is it. I don't even know when they were brought to the game. Yet, this ridiculous "rarity" of them has got me close to quitting. I use my incense every day. I have a straight path I walk that goes further than the timer. I hit it everyday and still nothing. It was exciting to see them yet knowing the likelihood of catching them just takes it to a different level of feeling like a waste of time. If they would increase the rate they appeared yet, kept the rate of fleeing the same I would feel better about hunting them. I think a 5% rate of appearing would be nice.

Zygarde is a brilliant system. It’s one of the most powerful, but you actually have to work for it. I miss having stuff to actually grind.

I wouldn't mind ultra rare Pokemon, if they weren't literally the best PvP pokes. If Niantic, or the Pokemon Company, or whoever is in control wants to push GBL as a competitive game they need to make it more accessible. And on top of that uncommon Pokes like Lickitung, Sableye and Medicham (not anymore) being top meta threats that you need 250+ XL candy for is absurd. I have over 450km walked with my Medi and 630km with Licki and 230km with Sableye just to get enough candies to power them up. And VGC trainers thought making teams took a long time. If you started today and didn't spend much money on the game, maybe 60 bucks the same as a main series game, it would take you like 6 months at least to get a viable competitive team. That's also not to mention all the elite TMs you would need as well

Pokemon Go that used to have MASSIVE success as a casual play game for everyone to relax and have fun.... has lost their way. They try to head to elite play with extreme rares, reduced costume shiny pokemon, etc.... and they wonder why they can't get large groups again. The bottom line most of their players are adults the kids are on their switch games around here. Adults work, have family responsibilities.... so relax play was a win. I've cut back my play 80% since they doubled price on remotes.

I remember the 2016 midnight Dragonite I caught in my last ultra ball. I still have it though. Later it turned out to be 93% even. Anither one I had send to Home with the rest of my Go livingdex. I like it that this also shows 2016 as its caught year.

I don't really mind carbink b/c its volatile, and skarmory which is pretty budget friendly can take care of it easily, and its easier to power up to great league and requires less candy xl's if it doesn't have pvp ivs and still is really good. I have a problem with the master league just in general because of candy xl. You have to have level 50 pokemon for playing the master league seriously, which already limits it to trainers that are at least level 40, and b/c of the remote raid nerf its much harder to get candy xl for legendary pokemon, which are some of the best pokemon in master league. The only master league pokemon thats really good and is beginner freindly is melmetal, which you can get enough xl candy for from 2 mystery boxes. I'm not complaining about lvl 50 and xl pokemon, I think it brings a lot more play to some pokemon in great league and ultra league. However I think there should be a lvl 40 master league where all pokemon should only be able to be powered up to lvl 40 only. That makes it more accessible b/c trainers lvl 30 and up can have the best pokemon for it and it eliminates the candy xl grind for newer players. However niantic probably won't do it b/c they get a lot of money from people raiding for candy xl.

I see this as go to olimpics. Not everybody that runs can compete, not even if you really like it. You have to dedicate to get it. So for me get some pokemons can have the same idea. You want the 100% form for Zygarde, work for it. Do the routes everyday and work until you get it. You want the Carbink, be the right day at the right time on the right place. You need some luck to get the birds, yes, but doing the daily incents over and over get you there eventually. For me, it is the compromise or the dedication that you want to put on it to get you there. None force you to play pvp to enjoy the game, the same with the routes. If you want to get X you have to work for it. And it is ok if not everybody has it.

What about frigibacx? It is soooo rare. I was extremely lucky and got a rank 17 arctabacx for the GL. It might be the highest ranked one in the world for GL. PS. I don't think having a super rare powerful pokemon for PVP is unfair if they legitimately worked for it. The bigger issue is that there are pokemon that are good in PVP that are no longer available to catch and haven't been in a long time, making it unfair for newer players. For example, shadow skarmory, actually many shadows are in this situation.

Carbink and Zygarde are basically "pay to play pokemon". The effort in personal time and resources (like driving to a route) to build them has a very heavy personal cost, not so much an in-game cost.

Zygarde is probably the only thing I don't agree with. Everyone has (or has the capability to) get 10% Zygarde and by extension have the ability to get the cells required to get the 100% form. So while it may be "rare" in the sense that not everyone has a 100% form, the fact that it is not a function of RNG but rather dependent upon someones consistency at playing the game makes the concept of it being "rare" similar to the rarity of seeing a level 50 player. That said, Zygarde cells should definitely be more accessible because 3 per day is just terrible lol All things considered, pokemon "rarity" hasn't changed that much since the game first came out. Baxcalibur and Larvesta now is what Dragonite was in 2016. The difference is that these pokemon are pretty much entirely RNG based by either getting lucky with eggs or being in the right place at the right time.

The G Birds need to be in 5 star raids period. With Zygarde in raids, they can give 10 percent form as catch (battle 100%) plus 3 to 5 cells as reward drop.

As a newer player who doesn't have a lot of time to grind, not many routes near me and hate doing the routes anyways, I've just accepted that I'll probably never have zygarde 100% or a fully powered up carbink. Or if i do ever get them, we're talking months or years from now. It kind of sucks but it just is what it is. I do a little pvp but dont have anything powered up enough for master league, so i just don't play it. Seems like you need a lot of stardust for any of them and i just can't grind enough for that either. But maybe someday. Hope springs eternal!

Having got my 18-17-17 Zygarde to complete 3 days ago I can tell you it isn't rare at all you just need to do the work and I'm a new player of only just over 3 months... The Galarian birds on the other hand, 1 master ball simply isn't enough.

I remember when the daily incense and the galatians birds first debuted, the very 1st Galarian Zapdos I encountered I miraculously managed to catch it with a golden razzberrry and great curveball throw, via Ultraball. Granted it's IVs were garbage, however, considering that I managed to catch it when it was still new with an ultraball, before the Masterball debuted into the game, speaks for itself. Also it is my most favorite of the galar birds. I've seen an encountered the other 2 birds atleast once or twice but never got to catch them ans now that I have this masterball I try to use the daily incense just to catch one of the other 2 galar birds that I don't have, yet they don't seem to spawn for me anymore recently now that I got this masterball ready lol

Do a daily adventure incense once a day and walk fast (or take the bus like I do) and you’ll find that you get way more gallarian birds. I’ve caught an Articuno recently a Moltres (still looking for Zapdos though)

If it’s rare and has no use in pvp or raids don’t really mind but if it’s one that just dominates pvp I understand, not only do you have to catch or hatch the Pokemon but you have to make sure the ivs are good enough to invest the starbust and candy but you have to walk and get all the xls for them to, definitely takes up a lot of your time and not everyone has the time to work at it. Currently walking my 10/15/15 lickitung which is rank 31 for the Pokemon. Still trying to find a good carbink to invest in. I have 22 that I need to mirror trade and hope I get any good ivs to invest. Even if I don’t I’ll definitely start walking one of them now just to get a head start on getting the xls for it. Took my a few months to get the xls for my rank 10 medicham last season only for it to get nerfed this season. Sucks a bit but have to keep grinding lol

IMO: if pvp is just to be used for shits and giggles (and nothing is locked behind them, get tiny amounts of things for rewards, no tournaments/competitive play on an officially sanctioned level) then it doesn't matter if pvp is used for at least a speck of competitive play (aka: if there are tournaments) then exclusivity should go down imo for those pokemon (particularly for the supposedly more "accessible" leagues) [also, considering a lot of stardust is behind doing/winning pvp, I would say there's a pretty decent incentive even though it's not a hard incentive] This is written to be broadly applicable to other games.

If you get demotivated from others having listed-above pokemon, Pokemon Go is sadly not a game for you. There will always be someone somewhere grinding harder, using more money having a strong group to play with out there. When it comes to pvp having a top meta pokemon sure is strong in the right hands but on the other side of that same coin if you don''t know what you are doing they wont help you much. You gotta play for yourself and challenge yourself. If you don't feel anything for zygard, make a team that smacks it, dont do routes, dont do pvp just catch from your couch next to your one stop and complain all day its really up to you in the end. I caught a dragonite in the wild in late 2016. It was awesome I was even on a break from the game, but I was walking home from work at night and saw a group of about 25 people in an alley all staring at their phones. I walked over there and asked what was going on, they said dragonite was there. I re downloaded the app quick and encountered a 1970 cp dragonite, caught it on the second throw! What a great memory it was my favorite Pokémon for years 👍

My issue isn't that pokemon are rare, its that there is no way to upgrade their stats. I was super unlucky and got the lowest stats possible on my zygarde so I have no desire to go and grind routes to get cells because why would I spend 83 days getting material to upgrade a bad stat zygarde when I could wait 3-5 years for some event where I can try to get a better one or for them to implement some way to upgrade stats. I feel like its similar with galarian birds. Its super cool when people finally encounter and catch them, but they look at the stats and its a 0 or 1 star so its just a novelty collector item. I also want to be able to upgrade stats on pokemon bc I imagine it being very difficult and the upgraded stats being a different color, so then a new big flex becomes turning a nundo into a hundo

I think maybe my biggest love/hate is the pseudo-legenday comm days (Beldum, Bagon, Axew, etc.). I do love being able to get those amazing shinies, and when they're meta-relevant (like Hydreigon), it's nice to be able to build a team out. But there's also a part of me that misses them actually being rare. Seeing a shiny Metagross or Hydreigon in a gym would be a lot more of a flex if not for the fact that they had community days, so almost everyone has a bunch of them.

Antoher barrier to Zygarde ud the routes are still nit spawning cells consistently. I do the exit and resume thing and still no cell. I did 4 routes today and got 1 cell. Really frustrating.
