Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. If a Pokémon faints, then it must be permanently boxed.
2. I can only catch the first encounter on each Route.
3. No bag items in battle, except for pokéballs. (Held items are allowed)
4. Must be played on "Set" battle mode.
5. Cannot level over the next gym leader/elite 4's highest level pokémon.

Right, this is it. There are very few terrible Pokémon for playthroughs. I used a Dewgong - arguably top 20 most outclassed Pokémon of all time - on a team once and was surprised by how helpful it was. Same goes for Leavanny - but then, I have even used a Kricketune to good effect.

Ambipom is lowkey a monster if you can get it in a nuzlocke-for exactly the reasons you highlighted with your use of it as a baton pass supporter. Particularly in HG/SS, when it's a super consistent headbutt encounter, it's really amazing as a win con. You can also get chesto berries for free in that game by rock smashing for blue shards, so you can run resto berry + nasty plot/agility and baton pass. That shit is nasty and can easily win you a run by itself, pretty much.

I'm glad Leavanny and Ambipom were incorporated here, they're both absolutely fantastic mons. Ambipom's baton pass is excellent for creating strategies around nasty plot and sweeping and if you've never used Leavanny, I recommend it. Mine was incredible with swords dance, leaf blade and x-scissor. Leavanny's main downfall is its typing and general inability to take hits though, which sucks :( Oh and heads up! If you've never used Sigilyph either, I recommend that too. It's one of my favourite mons

I actually genuinely used Swana in my Pokémon White playthrough and it was a very useful and versatile Pokémon to me. Makes me feel bad that it's classified as a bad pokemon. In general for my Pokémon playthroughs I just like to catch Pokémon that look cool to me then see what I have to work with. It's fun and challenging at the same time.

Would like to see you do a Dark Monolocke of Omega Ruby at some point, so I can see if it's genuinely tough or just me struggling with it. Only Mightyena and Shiftry for the first five gyms feels quite the challenge, even for gen 6.

Brawly is like the only Challenge and once you get past him, it should be fine I got lucky to get an Ice Fang Mightyena that will help against Winona, Drake, Sidney's Shiftry n Cacturne, Steven's Claydol, Wally and the May battles

@@ItsFireTiger I got as far as Flannery, then wiped to bad RNG with accuracy drops while setting up. Very frustrating as the encounters really open up after that gym. I'll probably try it again some day, but only did that one because I ran into a shiny Poochyena - the first shiny I saw in 20 years of playing Pokemon - while looking for my route 103 encounter on a Grass-type attempt.

An interesting thing about the starters is not only are they quad weak to the starter with the advantage against them, they are still weak to the starter they have the advantage against. Like numel's ground beating tirtouga's rock

I learned to like mightyena while tryng a mono dark hardcore nuzlock on emerald, intimidate is always huge, and I can't imagine how I would deal Wattson without howl + rock smash and Flannery without howl + dig with Sableye or Nuzleaf (the inspiration for the name nuzlocke). Back then rock smash was 20 power and bite was special, but even after catching absol and sharpedo, mightyena is stull consistent due intimidate.

Strategy; Masquarain has a type combo that allows you to check 3 out of the 4 Elite Four Members. It can act as a pivot for Marshal, or you could deal some nasty damage with Air Slash, just watch out for the rock moves. Mightyena is useful for shauntel and catlin, via stab Crunch. And you could do a double intimidate switch if you pair him up with Masquarain against Marshall. Girafirg is extremely good on the E4 thanks to it’s typing, you could essentially just Shadow Ball sweep shauntel team if you set up. Sableye is extremely frail and quite useless because it probably doesn’t have prankster, but he makes up for that thanks to utility moves like Will-o-Wisp, Confuse Ray and Toxic, Alongside a nice STAB priority move in Shadow Sneak. Ambipon is the offensive powerhouse of this team, if Technician is his ability, allowing him to use moves like Double Hit, Aerial Ace, Hone Claws for set up and Low Kick, since it gets boosted by Technician in this gen. My last slot goes to Octilerry, it has some insane coverage moves like Ice Beam, Signal Beam, STAB Surf, Flamethower for some reason and Flash Cannon. You can essentially deal super effective move for every member of the elite four with this moveset.

These are the comments I like to see. I love the team you've built, give it a try! Upon my own inspection, what you lack is speed and bulk. Ambipom is fast but doesn't have any offensive power, and if you try to set up, it doesn't have the bulk to support it. Girafarig is only mediocre on offense, defense, and speed. I'd say he actually does Octillery's job better. Mightyena is good-ish. Being a dark with intimidate makes it very good. So just invest some speed and attack EVs. Masquerain I would disagree. No bulk and no speed. Remember pre-buff Masquerain is useless. Sableye is more like a pivot pokemon, take a psychic or fighting move then switch out. And change its moveset and EVs to be stalling pokemon, so max defense and toxic, protect, etc. Octillery is just a hard no. Too slow and isn't that bulky. Anything faster or bulkier would do the trick.

I don´t do nuzlockes, this is a team that i just came up on the fly, and by just doing a bit of reasearch on their movesets. And on a side note, where did you find the dowload link for the hack? I only managed to find a document that PC himself made about the encounters ( He put mons like the Pog swellow and Volcarona on the game, so that´s odd )

Skuntank seems very useful for shauntal and Caitlin, and alongside camerupt for chandelure, shauntal seems covered. Additionally, venomoth can be useful with sleep powder plus quiver dance plus maybe tinted lens, as well as a strong fighting resist for marshal and is your only pokemon that can deal STAB super effective damage on grimsley (besides masquerain) For the last three, sableye can pivot in on marshal and can spread will-o-wisp, as well as being immune to psychic attacks from Caitlin, ambipom can be used for the raw power and speed, as well as technician fake out, and mantine has good special bulk for Caitlin and can beat grimsley's krookodile, as well as switch into fighting moves to bait weaker stone edges.

So I apparently came up with half of the team you used at the end (Froslass, Swanna, Semisear), and each one did have a move I included in the movesets! (Shadow Ball, Surf, and Acrobatics, respectively.) The team I came up with is otherwise more offensive than set up heavy, but I'm more the type to go charging in, so I'm glad to see a different strategy. (I'm also just happy to have Froslass in the light- absolutely one of, if not my absolute favorite pokemon.) Edit: I just got to the "Champion" fight. I had Skuntank too.

If you love Rom hacks you could try to Nuzlocke radical red hardcore mode . It is a difficult challenge but there are several good pokemon and also you couldn't set up sweep everything so you can strategize and play like the black 2 challenge mode Nuzlocke you did recently. Just it will be a lot harder but good luck in whatever you do.

I would have taken Swanna to cover most of the fighting types and put scrafty down early and an answer to fire attacks, Venomoth bug stab and fighting resist, Illumise for encore strats, stunfisk since it actually counters a lot with ground and electric stab not just in the E4 but with N as well, Cacturne to sweep most teams with SD/Sucker punch if SD is patched out Growth- Spikes is also an option, last spot I'd probably give to Torcoal just for the FWG core since there isn't many answers for ice or steel types on the team. Archeops poses a challenge tho.

I like this comment. Upon inspection, there are a couple things. Swanna and venomoth are good options. Illumise is too slow and not bulky enough to pull off encore strats unless is specifically against fighting types. Cacturne is not bulky enough to pull off any SD, but doesnt have enough attack to kill with a Sucker punch consistenly. And torkoal is just redundant. There alreasy arent many ice/steel typws in the game, and if there were, then why torkoal if you have scrafty.

@@DocZ For Illumise 85 speed is a lot when every lead is a slow defensive mon with little coverage. She's faster then every lead without speed investments so every thing to bulk Sub, encore, u-turn, wish. With Cacturne you sub, SD and sweep. He's got 115 base attack. He'd solo Caitlin and Shauntal easy with the only chance of loosing being Caitlin hitting 3 focus blasts on your subs. Torkoal is PHat but is only really there for the N fight. Cacturne solos 2/4, so having a defensive pokemon with status is great for the physical attacking dominate dark and fighting types. Lava plume, Toxic Protect, Sub/Wil-o/Explosion. I just don't like scrafty without moxie. I find it slow, too reliant on HJK and it's move pool is a poor match for its stats. It doesn't want to switch in to anything since you have to pour speed EV's down its throat and sacrifice bulk. Biggest thing you'd want it for is covered by Cacturn and most dark types have flying coverage or are counted by the rest of the team Swanna and venomoth.

Hey Doc I'm starting to believe these challenges are too easy and are becoming a bit boring, your narration is good and it's what keeps the video somewhat interesting, you should try some hacks like renegade platinum or white bolt/blaze black instead, those will hype you up for sure since you're actually good and have knowledge about the game.
