Here's a little interesting fact. A majority of the Team bosses run Crobat on their teams, a Pokemon that only evolves via friendship. In Black and White 2 Ghetsis's Hydreigon actually runs Frustration, a move that increases in power the more the Pokémon HATES its trainer.

People often say Team Plasma was lame. They wanted to "liberate" Pokemon, but really just wanted to run Unova. Yaaawn. Did you forget what actually happened? This man right here was a genius! He almost succeeded in tricking an entire region into releasing all of their Pokemon so he could rule as the unchallenged king. He lied to his son and manipulated him into acquiring the legendary Pokemon to insure his victory. He was truly a monster who cared nothing for others. Plus his signature Pokemon has frustration. While in the games, he's just in Team Plasma to basically get research funding, and is searching to find out what brings out the true potential in Pokémon, in the manga, he fully believes control is the answer. He also acts like child, giggling with laughter whenever he enjoys something and throwing tantrums whenever something doesn't go the way he wants it to go. And while game Colress never attempts to hurt the player and even helps them, in the manga, he's perfectly fine with freezing the protagonists solid and having them thrown into the sea. Oh, and unlike in the games, where Team Plasma freezes only Opelucid City to get the DNA Splicers, in the manga, they freeze over *most of Unova's cities and towns* just for the heck of it. And if you're thinking about his role in Alola, he technically doesn't have it in the manga. He technically did create the Beast Balls, but as he's arrested at the end of the Unova saga, the "Colress" appearing in Alola is actually just a Unova protagonist in disguise. So yeah. Colress in the manga gets done super dirty. Speaking of the person who arrested him: one of the Black 2 & White 2 protagonists is a boy born without emotions. He only understands the difference between right and wrong because he was taught it from a young age by the International Police when they adopted him. He's so overly flawless that he's Looker's *superior* and has the nickname "Mr. Perfect". And the juicy bit? The leader of the International Police even taught him that it's not only okay, but even *encouraged* to *violate the human rights* if it was necessary to arrest criminals. And not just the rights of the criminals, but *civilians too!* Jeez, this manga is messed up...

One thing I feel like people don't mention about Ghetsis is that you only fight him *once*. Every major villain in the other games, by the time you're at the final battle with them, you've already beaten them once or twice, so there can't be all that much tension in your final battle with them; you've beaten them before, you just need to do it again. But Ghetsis only comes out to fight you at the very end. The gym leaders, the elite four, even the champion are all down below, occupied or defeated, and now you have to fight the mastermind behind everything, for the first and last time.

This includes Lysandre’s Gyrados which he apparently had a strong bond with being able to mega evolve it(I’m going off the logic the game tells you, not the actual thing. In normal gameplay you can mega evolve a Pokémon seconds after catching it)

It goes on about how it makes them aggressive and disfigures their body or whatever, Garchomp's arms get melted and Glalie gets it's jaw broken, why would something so harmful and unnatural require a bond or anything? I swear those Mega Evolution guys in that tower from X and Y were full of it, they were just trying to make their regional gimmick look less fucked.

The Sun and Moon mega evolutions were written because one guy in GameFreak hated megas and wanted to make them look worse. It’s very likely that the Pokédex entries describe what happens if you try to mega evolve without the strong bond - it works, but there are consequences. I’m of the mindset that a wild Pokémon can potentially mega evolve even without a trainer (as shown in the mewtwo movie) and THAT’S when the problems start occurring.

I don't think Ghetsis was going to betray N (remember, Ghetsis needed N to be his puppet so he could control Unova without having to catch Reshiram or Zekrom). However, just in case something were to go wrong with his plan and N were to become a problem for him, Ghetsis had this strong team, which was most likely trained by force (remember, the Hydreigon hates Ghetsis so much it even had Frustration) so he could beat N.

The battle ends, you see all the characters standing there as you normally would before the battle started, there is no music and the screen is slowly turning black. Then appears a textbox that just says "...You lost". And then the game ends and you then have to load your last savepoint. (I would say you just have to start a new game but wanted to make it a bit more realistic)

Obviously Hydreigon is countered by Fairy types, in 1v1. In a 6v6 battle, you need some specific things to stop a Hydreigon rampage. Stealth Rock support and Speed control via Sticky Web only make things worse. For example, a Life Orb Hydreigon can 2HKO Sylveon on the switch with Flash Cannon. A non Life Orb one can do the same, if it has used Focus Energy and holds a Scope Lens to guarantee the crit. This Hydreigon can also 2HKO Eviolite Chansey with Superpower, OHKO Kartana with Draco Meteor, and score some other impressive kills.

I like how B/W has the squares in their title of black and white, almost like a chessboard. This also links back to "black and white" with the chess theme. All the time in the game you know N is king of Team Plasma, so almost like in chess, taking down N is like taking down the king, and you've won. But when Ghetsis comes along, he reveals that all this time, while N has been the "king", he is no more than one of his pawns. It's almost like a game of chess fighting team plasma. I love this theme, because it perfectly fits Ghetsis as a character. All other Pokèmon villains have been rather simplistic in their villainy, being motivated by greed, ambition or loneliness. Ghetsis is the only villain where all those motivations qualify. His absolutely despicable nature is also something that's quite unique to him. His abusive relationship with N, and his demonization of humans relations with Pokèmon made him for more than a simple crook, he was an absolute monster. And man, do I love him for it. When I hear this theme, the tension is at an all time high. Vernias getting a Star off a hidden block. Sophist yelling that he doesn't deserve it and that he was a leech. Nick complaining that he had gotten two Skeleton Keys off hidden blocks. Brent gears up to roll and then he rolls a 1. It was at this moment everyone knew that things just got wild... very wild. And then Brent pleads his heart out to convince Nick to use the Skeleton Key to open the path. Vernias then says, "And you want him to steal the star? Nick, think this through for one second." It was hilarity but it was just pure tension. All this on a Mario Party skin.

It's been pointed out tons of times but i'll still say it, Not only is his team infernally difficult to beat...But it was literally designed to have a tremendous type AND stat advantage over N's Final team, Ghetsis KNEW he couldn't have N manipulated forever, and he was ready to take his Pokemon by force. That's fucking horrifying. (Hydreigon for example, has a higher base speed stat than Reshiram/Zekrom. and we know that firsthand if we sent our dragon out against him.)

Something that separates Ghetsis from other evil bosses is his Hydriegon. Most evil bosses have Crobats, which evolve by friendship. This shows that they do care for their Pokémon. But Ghetsis's Hydriegon runs MAX POWER Frustration, a move that increases it's power the more the Pokémon hates their trainer. Ghetsis's Hydriegon HATES HIM.

This theme feels like your fighting the Devil. Come to think of it, Acreus’ theme and Ghetsis’ theme are pretty similar. Both have drums to build up tension, they give you the feel of unease and intimidation, and it also gives you a feeling that your life is on the line. What I really love about this gen is that it seems, for the first and last time in the pokemon main games, as if Gamefreak really tried. They wanted to make a revolutionary Pokemon game, with a deep story, containing betrayls and cruelty with an epic final. With an awesome post game. Tons of new pokemon (which is subjective if this is a good thing not, but it definitely shows their ambition) and insanely cool and philosophical characters. Plus some soundtracks are absolutely nuts, this one included. It feels like this is supposed to be THE Pokemon game and you can definitely feel it while playing it. Best gen.

I feel GameFreak still has that passion but theyre clearly struggling somewhere, the alola and galar games have some incredible ideas on a story and gameplay level but they’re muddied a bit in comparison. For example making new regis and regional variants for legendary Pokémon is hella passionate. As is the ideas behind regional variants megas and id even argue dynamax and z moves. we have characters like hop who genuinely doubt their own strength and show a ton of development, the lusmines who are some very interesting characters that deal with abuse, Leon who is one of the best champions imo who actually steps up in the region, and other things such as the gyms in sword and shield, the continuous amazing OSTS and designs, the strives for better vgc, and several other tid bits of passion like the battle tree max raids and other things. It is buried by a myriad of flaws however which is unfortunate, but i think its silly to say theyve stopped trying/caring

I haven't played B2/W2 but I have played pokemon white and I must say the post game wasn't really good there, you didn't have much to do, Undella Town is one of the 2 (I would say) Highlights of the postgame cuz of cynthia and the rich family but it gets weighed down by Undella bay's Water temple (That was annoying as heck), but for real the main story was by far the best one I've ever seen/played. No other game (I'm bringing B2/W2 into the mix because I have watched playthroughs of those games) has been so amazing overall. The only other flaw I see with B/W (Idk if it still applies to B2/W2 I didn't memorize the changes) was the way too linear course of the map. You see in every other generation a layout where you can go from city A to city B by only passing like 2 other cities, in the main story of B/W if you want to go pick up a pokemon in the daycare and you're in twist mountain you gotta go all the way back to the start crossing all caves, bridges, forests, you get the picture.

I actually feel bad for Ghetsis’ Hydreigon. It clearly hates him as evidenced by it use of Frustration in B2W2. The poor thing is forced to carry out Ghetsis’ bidding only to be stomped out by the player character during your battle with him.
