Bend the battery termina down before soldering. Nice video mate.

Appreciate it Lee, I'll try that next time.

Could you of bent the battery terminal down a bit to relieve that upward tension? I wonder if you had used bit of possibly solder wick as the pad and glued that down to the board. Got the upward tension of that spring steel on the battery plus the heat of having to solder the battery terminal working against the new pad.

Thank you for the suggestions! Yeah several people have suggested bending the terminal. I'll have to remember that if it should come across my bench again. I'm not sure if wick would have offered anything more than the tape. The contact points where just really limited.

@@MicroMageRepair ya sometimes that spring steel is not easy to bend and have it retain the new shape.

There are some 2 part epoxies made for copper to board repair, that are high heat, but they are very expensive. And not sure it would handle the force of the spring effect. Does it need that spring force?

I wouldn't think so, the tension doesn't do anything to my knowledge.

Very well done! I worked myself on some of those and compared to the normal gameboy games the advnace ones have even thinner connections and SMD elements. So working of those is always a small challange and you just did so well! :)

Appreciate you, I'd like to see some more of them. Compared to what I normally work on it wasn't too bad. Some of the Switch, PS5, and really the iPhone stuff are much smaller.

Nice try. Tour solder wick seems to be vert effective. Coule you tell where you but it ans who made it ? Best regards, nicolas

I'm not entirely sure if wick would have been more or less effective here. Those solder points were very small. It's something to consider next time though.

Would epoxy have worked? Great Repair and Video! Bottom line, you fixed it. Thank You.

Possibly! Yep it's a win, just maybe could do better on the next one.

those battery don't have the correct shape and lenght terminals to fit perfectly in the cartridge (in fact none of the sellers could provide the correct ones). when i have to replace it i make my own with spot welder. or you could bent them as you wish but in some cases the terminals are too short when are in the correct shape to be able to solder to the board

Interesting! Appreciate the suggestions!

You could leave it bouncing but put a blob of hot glue from a glue gun, just to take any shocks and give support. Also, it's pretty easy to remove later if you need to.

Bend the legs from the battery was just the simple solution 😊

I will consider it. I'm just curious if that spring steel will bend.
