Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee Hardcore Nuzlocke - GRASS TYPES ONLY! (No candies/overleveling)

You know what? Barely anybody has tried hardcore nuzlockes of the Let's Go games. Usually this is because they're considered easy, but once you strip away the protective layer of stat-boosting candies, this game becomes a whole load harder due to the lack of EVs, diverse sub-typings, and lack of encounters. Can we get through this nuzlocke with only Grass types? Find out now!

1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch one Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
3. No items in battle (held items okay)
4. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)

Personally I would've counted Bellsprout/Weepinbell as an encounter in Go Park, since technically because of that it's catchable in this version.

I've always really liked the idea of doing a Rock Mono run in X/Y. The biggest issue is you'd have to add on your starter since you can't get a Rock type until Ambrette Town

Not really an issue, you can just use Amaura or Tyrunt as your starter and then get the opposite fossil

I respect rhe determination not to use candies due to them making you OP, but mabye using just enough to make up for the lack of EVs could be acceptable? All you would have to do is catch the same pokemon in a different game with the same nature, and fully EV train it, check the IVs and compensate the difference, then make the two pokemons stats match with candies.

I don't understand the thought process of Vileplume outspeeding Rapidash. Vileplume has 50 base speed and Rapidash more than doubles that with 105 base speed. How were you ever outspeeding?

A few words: IVs/Natures exist. The majority of all trainers in Let's Go don't have perfect IVs compared to other games.

@@michaelgault6550 Just checked it, with the worst IVs and neutral natures, Rapidash would still outspeed. You could theoretically do it if Rapidash had either a -Speed nature or if Vileplume had a +Speed nature with perfect IVs and EVs. I don't think he'd be outspeeding Rapidash.

Fast fire types with Flare Blitz and Fire Blast? Yeah that's basically GG for a grass team. To not die to that you'd have to get stupid lucky with the game's built in friendship mechanic. Even then you'd probably be too beat up to survive the end game.

I think victreebel had a chance of being faster than rapidash, but none of that should have mattered if you just went for sleep powder on his pokemon. Like every single one of your pokemon except for parasect should have just run sleep powder instead of trying to be smart with screens.

It's maybe only me but I find Vileplume underrated. It's cute and even if the line got Bellosom it could get something else by GameFreak. And Holy Moly Parasect was awesome in that Sabrina fight. Would it just be better when I played Red in 1999 and got stuck at Sabrina at a 6 year old

actually this run gave me a cute idea for challenge runs (for big youtubers, or at least "groups of players" (not just 1 person)): one could community-vote'd 6 mons (probably the trashest/trolliest of all) and get them from the start and then cant catch anything and have to play with them thru the game hardcore nuzlocke style (if u want u could also make it into a community speedrun, where everyone uses the same seed/rom and plays along with the same setup, trying to be the fastest that there ever was xD) which would make for community engagement and not-annoying-switch-around-the-best-team-between-gyms challenge, probably would get hella views the strategy then doesnt come from adaptation to what-the-first-thing-on-the-route gives ya but rather by making impactful good decisions with the shitty limited options u have (less rng/more deep strategic considerations)

Hey, I have a challenge idea. Can you beat Gen 1 with only paid for Pokemon using a walk through walls cheat or teleport cheat to walk to the Safari Zone to try and get as many pokemon as possible with 500 poke and/or going to the Game Corner to try and buy a Pokemon Prize either by gambling or straight up buying. HM Pokemon allowed after buying your first pokemon but can't battle with them unless you bought them. You can buy as many or as few as you want but it's a soft nuzlocke as if you get bankrupt and can't buy any more pokemon to replace the knocked out it's game over. You can do this challenge up until Gen 4 as Gen 5 would be a Magikarp only run and you can't buy Pokemon Gen 6 onwards not counting let's go, and Alola is buy fossils once.
