I was wondering why you put goldeen in the thumbnail. When I saw you were going up against Carlos, my ptsd kicked in and I actually cried out “noooo.” So sorry about Artemis, but I couldn’t help but laugh a bit at that 😅

Hey Grumpy, I just wanted to say that this year too you and your videos have been really important to me in more ways than you could ever imagine... you're easily one of my fav youtubers and content creators. Good luck with the channel and eternal thanks for being there when I most needed it. Thanks 💜

As someone who will probably continue watching no matter what kinds of runs you do, I love the nicknames, especially when we get heartfelt goodbyes like with Artemis. I also enjoy seeing trade evolutions, and in my opinion, anything you can find in the underground is fine to just add infinite of to your bag. You could theoretically farm up heart scales for hours, but I think it's more entertaining to see that flexibility added to the run for some more strategy. Love the no duplicate types idea, and I'm looking forward to seeing you more in action, maybe even with Renegade Platinum!

In runs where encounters are very limited(like this), nickname themes can be way easier. Gym Leaders names, E4, Champions, justice league/YJ/Teen titans, etc.

i think as long as you never use an illegal catch pokemon to "beat the challenge" then you shouldn't feel guilty for using it to grab an item or whatever. it gets a little weird if you are catching 5 "illegal" pickup mons to make the challenge easier though but in such circumstances its up to the challenger, i suppose. i often catch a compoundeyes pokemon in black/white because it makes getting berries easier in the absence of locked internet content

I see Honey Trees as an exception to the rule depending on what Pokemon you are going for as you said. Yeah...never underestimate Goldeen. Thank you Artemis, watch over your team as the free spirit you are. Aaaaand the BEST fire doggo!

Re: catching pokemon for purposes aside from battling, I feel like it’s perfectly fair game. That being said, nuzlockes themselves are a self-imposed challenge, so there’s nothing stopping you from adhering to that rule just to add additional challenge.

I think it’s perfectly fine to get the male and female combee. Most ither games have the macho brace available without getting pokemon it’s an unfortunate coincidence that platinum requires showing certain pokemon. The spirit of a nuzlock to me has always been surviving the challenges of trainer battles not “will I randomly have a pokemon that will allow me to access a core game mechanic”

Nuzlocke rules or for battles, they don't add anything interesting outside of them - just weird needless limitations. Catch all you want for items, HMs etc.

What’s your opinion on rare candies? Is it okay to use them or will it make Pokémon weaker, also you should make more guide videos on certain Pokémon like you did with Rapidash, I can’t find many videos that go into detail on the DS versions of Diamond, Pearl or Platinum like you did. I’m not sure how similar the remasters are so I don’t know if I can use them videos for advice when picking moves
@grumpygengar22 Жыл бұрын
If you care about EV training, then rare candies are fine. But if you don't EV train then yeah you'll have much weaker pokemon if you rare candy everything constantly. I only use the ones you can pick up normally in game (so like 5-6 per run typically) and then I grind the rest.
@CodPatrol Жыл бұрын
@@grumpygengar22 Is EV training just basically battling? Once you’ve done it enough it’s okay to use like one or two candies?
@kylejeboss1469 Жыл бұрын
@@CodPatrolevery time you fight a Pokémon they give the Pokémon that fought evs depending on what Pokémon you defeated. Ex. Starly gives 1 speed ev. The max amount of evs a Pokémon can have is I think like 510 and one stat can’t have more than 252 evs. Every 4 evs gives one actual stat point. So after you max out evs then you can just rare candy
@pikminman13 Жыл бұрын
for something like the macho brace theres absolutely nothing wrong with illegal catches. if it makes something take less time, especially if its completely doable without it, go ahead. i dont play with ev training, and if i do use evs i just use that other method to obtain them because i dont need to waste my time on a menial activity like that. i *would* call it cheating if you were using unique items to the pickup pool, magnet pull or static to alter your encounter tables, or something else that actually impacts gameplay. if you were to catch a mantyke, i would excuse catching a remoraid in this scenario, as normally youd be able to manip one anyway. but obviously everyone plays with their own rulesets.

I would prefer going back to no nicknames for the next run because just having the Pokémon name lets me follow along when I’m just listening without having to try to remember a bunch of random nicknames
@grumpygengar22 Жыл бұрын
I think it'll be a mix of both depending on the run

Hey Grumpy, atleast you didn't fight Carlos with a No Guard Machamp........ I did that one time 🥲
