Smash-Pass is an actual Competitive Pokémon Strategy referring to when a Mon like Smeargle uses Shell Smash to jack up its power with boosts, then Baton Pass them to something like Espeon. Gets banned in a lot of formats for being too broke. As someone who watches Vaush and PokeaimMD on the regular, this in my recs Smashed my brain for several seconds trying to figure out what this content was- and totally not my usual Pokémon content. lol

They do have animals that aren't pokemon FYI. I don't know how much of it you can call actual canon and how much is simply inconsistency, but regular bug-sized bugs and regular bird-sized birds, regular cat-sized cats, etc. do show up in all variety of Pokemon media from the games to the anime to the TCG. It isn't common, and is more rare in more recent media than in the past, but even as recently as Sun and Moon non-Pokemon animals have made minor appearances. And obviously, regular plants and fungi are all over the place despite there also being plant and fungi pokemon. So I choose to believe Pokemon are a distinctly different clade and their common ancestor with other life forms diverged a very very very long time ago, similar traits between pokemon and non-pokemon species being a result of convergent evolution. Also for that reason humans are more closely related to animals than to pokemon.
