I have no idea how Pokemon convinces people to have such low standards. Don't listen to people saying they're "small nitpicks", if you look at literally ANY other online card game client this looks like a student project. it still more than makes it up for the horrendous cost of ptcgo in getting any cards. I love live for the new crafting system. Beyond that, it's pretty stable now. The fact that Tricky Gym decided to go with what they did for the opening which is SUPER minor. Okay? The card moves? And utilizes the full space?? Gonna try to watch the rest of the video but this really isn't a convincing start. Are there issues? Yes! I do not disagree! Any of this UX complaints is more than offset by the savings from the crafting system. I would have lead with the fact that temporary card bans are frequent because of what I assume are bugs with implementation. There's other things too, like the weird shrinkage of the cards on the opponent's bench. The search function is lackluster. Okay, so his first complaint, which I've gotten to while typing this is that the deck area of the builder is smaller. Why wouldn't it be? If you're building a deck as you go which is how many starts of my decks go, you want to see more of your options to put in, not more of what you already know is in your deck. if the next point is just as bad as those first two I will be stopping the video. I'm sorry, I love your videos, but I really disagree with your nitpicks here.

lol, yup. "Low res". Okay??? I play full screen on a big TV as a monitor and they look fine? I'm sorry, I *really* can't see these complaints as anything other than nitpicks. There are so many better things you could have complained about first. The lack of a collection screen to go look at your cards/search through them without going to edit a deck. The lackluster selection of cosmetics. The fact that all of the emote/gestures look sarcastic. What if I want to tell someone they made a really good play? Thumbs up? Looks sarcastic and rude. There's some ACTUAL issues here that you haven't brought to the forefront that would make your case a lot better, and I would still prefer this version to ptcgo. Should these things you point out be fixed? Some of them! Yes! Low res images are annoying! Design choices could be a bit better. But I don't think the ones you bring up are anything significant. Heck, I flat out disagree with your comment on wanting your deck to take up more room! Why would I want to look at the cards I know are in my deck instead of using the space to help decide what I should be putting in?

This is just the unfortunate state that we and Pokémon are in today. On multiple occasions its been proven that Game Freak/The Pokémon Company doesn't even need to try so why even putting effort into anything when it's still going to sell like hotcakes? Pokémon Scarlet & Violet were an embarrassment on launch with glitches around every single corner of the game. You'd think Game Freak/The Pokémon Company should care but no. Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have sold 10 Million units in the first 3 days on sale making it the biggest Nintendo launch in history. Game Freak/The Pokémon Company have no reason to try and from someone who grew up with arguably the best Pokémon games with Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 it deeply saddens me.

@@Sacred_Sword Scarlett and Violet are the best the series has ever been despite the glitches and I stand by that statement. I have played every title at launch since Gold and Silver. Red and blue a few months after releasing. Pokemon has always been buggy. Every title. And every gen people are still surprised. But Pokemon overflows with creativity and style and flavor. Well this doesn't excuse the flaws, it explains the success. Pokemon sells because people love the creativity, the battling, the collecting. The like the world, the lore, the characters and the art! And the problem with PTCGL is that it has all of the buggy incompleteness of the main series and NONE of the creativity, flavor, lore, characters or world. Pokemon fans forgive bugs, that's just how the community is and whining about it won't change anything. But they won't forgive this lack.

@@heavyarms55 While I don't think Scarlet & Violet are the best the series has ever been I think it alongside Legends Arceus are the best the series has been in a while. However I don't agree with the statement that Pokémon has always been buggy. While yes every title has glitches and bugs but ones have more than others. What I mean by that is you could go through a whole playthrough including postgame of a significant portion of games in the series and not most likely never encounter a single glitch unless you go out of your way to experience them yourself. Games like Red & Blue and Scarlet & Violet unpatched on the other hand are nearly impossible to expect zero glitches in a playthrough. I can forgive a few bugs, glitches, or oversights here and there. You can't expect every game to release without something unintentional slipping through the cracks. As you say whining about it won't change anything obviously but at this point it's one of our best and only options. Need I remind you *Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have sold 10 Million units in the first 3 days on sale making it the biggest Nintendo launch in history*. Clearly boycotting these games isn't an option anymore. But that aside yes I know why the series is successful. That much is obvious. My point was that because it's so huge Pokémon will sell no matter what and because of that Game Freak/The Pokémon Company at this point don't really need to try. I mean for god sake I follow Pokémon constantly and I haven't even heard of TCG Live until a month ago and I'm certain it's going to be a success just because it's Pokémon.

I'm both a 2D and 3D artist. I've done animations in both mediums, as well as countless other still pieces. I've been doing art for a majority of my life, and it's something I'm passionate about. I've also been playing and collecting the TCG for about half of my life now, with a good chunk of that of course being on PTCGO. I want to share my thoughts and opinions on PTCG Live. I feel like there's a very, VERY simple fix for the bad animations. Just make them feel how they do in real life. Instead of drawing a card and having it fly into your face from seemingly nowhere, have it smoothly and gently slide from the deck into your hand while turning to reveal itself. Have energy cards slide behind the selected Pokemon, etc. If they can mimic that feeling of playing a game IRL, it would be much better. The holo effects are disgusting too. Harsh bands of color on basically everything, no variation. Holographic effects are not hard to make, but they're hard to get right. They HAVE holo patterns they can pull from, and yet they just, didn't. It's sad when I can get a better sense of how a card looks from their website than their official simulator game. Having the opponents cards face towards you also just looks really wrong. It looks more like a someone laying out their collection than it does an in-progress game. I'm perfectly fine with having the HP values face towards you, but to have to opponents cards face you can just get confusing and again, looks horribly wrong. Also, the way it is now, their hand goes OVER some of the HP values, so they're harder to read as opposed to if they were, oh I don't know, where they're SUPPOSED to be? If there's one thing I will say looks nice, it's the coin flip animation. I mean, you can't really mess up something that simple, but seeing the rest of the game, who knows. That's just depressing though. This is supposed to be a modern upgrade to a decade old game, and yet the only thing that even comes close to matching the quality of the original is a simple coin flip. The low quality textures and god awful holo patterns are downright disgraceful to the original artists. There are some cards with intricately detailed backgrounds or downright gorgeous character art, and then that gets compressed to all hell and looks like you're viewing it on an iPod Touch. Just pause and look at the Serena card at 15:17, that's a beautiful card, or it WOULD be if you could actually see it properly. It's also horrible from a planning perspective. You CANNOT read any of the text on the cards while they're on the bench or in the active slot, and that's just downright bad design. It removes a lot of crucial information from being seen, and that can really kill a players want for playing the game. The models also look god awful. It looks like they downloaded a base model and some clothing packs from something like the Unreal Marketplace, slapped on a few custom textures, used the absolute most basic lighting possible, and called it a day. The Trainers in PTCGO never looked good by any means, those were complete garbage too, but at least those had some sort of stylized charm to them. These models look like soulless asset flips and nothing more. I also cannot explain to you how infuriating the placement of everything is to me. Your prize cards being lined up like that and RIGHT NEXT TO THE BENCH just hurts to look at. It's ALWAYS been a 2x3 vertical spread, not whatever this is. The deck being DIRECTLY next to the discard pile also just makes me irrationally angry. WHY IS IT THERE?! And then the opponents prize cards are not only facing you, but they're also next to the bench... ON THE SAME SIDE AS YOURS. It's just frustrating to look at. They've HAD a consistent layout for forever, and they just threw it all away. Having stuff like the stacking of duplicate cards is awful too. Imagine if people did that IRL, you see the nice spread of the hand, but then this massive tower that you just go "oh, those must be the energy cards." It's like the people who worked on this understood NOTHING about the PTCG. The PTCGO looks leagues better in comparison. It by no means looks amazing, but it's so much better than Live. The card art is clear and text is legible. The background FEELS like it's two people playing at a table with their own mats (which I wish were customizable, but anyway). The table has a nice wood grain and something people might not notice right away, scratches. This table feels like it's been played on for a decade, whereas the background in Live just looks like a cheap plastic toy you'd buy at your local Target (kind of like those bulky and cheaply made Beyblade arenas). The holo patterns look amazing, and while not that similar to their real life counterparts, do a good job at highlighting both the art and rarity of these cards. These FEEL special, the ones in Live just look like cheap bootlegs you'd pick up at a swap-meet or something. If I can say something I prefer about Live, it's the arrows when scrolling through your deck. The big green ones in PTCGO always stood out a bit too much for my liking, but the simplistic white circles in Live put it more in line with modern apps or something, giving it a sleeker feel. That being said though, the glowing outlines need to come back. They can just be white or a pale yellow, but at LEAST put one around the currently highlighted card. The numbers below the cards didn't need to be changed like the arrows did though. The new ones feel way too small and it's honestly kind of hard to tell the numbers apart from each other. The text boxes in Live feel bland and boring. There's no personality to them, the backgrounds are JUST a solid color, and the lack of transparency basically kills full art cards. Sure, it might make it easier to read the text IN the boxes, but we already HAD a good example of how to do that. Again, I REALLY feel like the people who made this don't understand the TCG at all. They clearly have a huge lack of artistic vision, and someone needs to be brought in to fix it. Live genuinely looks horrible, and it's pissing me off to the point that I almost want to make a mock up of what a modern Pokemon TCG simulator SHOULD look like. It seems like Pokemon is just really dropping the ball hard recently. The terrible quality of Scarlet and Violet, the horrendous look and feel of PTCG Live, who knows what's next. I love Pokemon, always will, and I'm critical of the Pokemon Company because I WANT to see them do better. I want to see Pokemon, in all aspects, be the best it can possibly be, but this just really is not it. Again, this makes me want to try my hand at making at least one mock up of a better looking PTCG online experience. If anyone here wants to see that, I'll do it, but even if you don't, I might just do it anyway.

For some reason everything is mind numbingly slow to the point it's unplayable. The same tablet runs minecraft just fine. I tried clicking the support button and that didn't even work. The slowness is anomaly I'm sure, but not even being able to submit a support ticket is not helping the cause. Yes, they've made improvements since the initial beta release but it's still atrocious.

What pisses me off about this game the most is how the algorithm can have you constantly get bad hands and make any tournament ready deck so inconsistent it's unplayable. I get there is a luck factor in every TCG but the way this game is programmed, the luck factor pushes this game beyond ridiculous limits where you can practically need a Victini just to get a good hand. I literally just had 10 losses IN A ROW just from me getting a garbage hand and my opponent always getting a god hand. I have never had this kind of issue on other TCG games and I have hit KOG on Duel Links many times and that damn TCG requires more luck than this one by far. Not to mention it feels like this game takes archetypes into consideration in its code. I swear to Arceus I will be one win from going up the ladder and I will get a bad matchup. I could understand this happening 2-5 times but 8+ times seems BEYOND coincidental. I hate to be sour grapes about the ladder system but they need to change this gain 20 loose 20. This can make it almost IMPOSSIBLE for people new to the game or with no money invested in codes to progress the ladder. (and for people like me with horrible luck apparently) It needs to be structured more like Duel Links where you win 3-5 to go up in rank and lose 2+ in a row to go down in rank so people can have a chance to progress and get the rewards. I've invested a good bit in this game. I have every major tournament deck built. I'll give it one more try just to give it the benefit of the doubt but if my luck doesn't improve I will be trashing it till they fix this shit.

I agree with everything, the animations, the feel, the smack in the face feeling, the horrible deck building design, CARDS looking horrible in a CARD game, everything. Here are some other problems I've noticed: -because of the curvature of the "hand", when you try to play the left-most card in your hand (like putting down a Pokémon), it struggles to do so. this problem gets worse when you have a giant hand. It usually takes 3 or so tries before the card finally decides to come out of your hand. -You cannot redeem more than 10 TCG codes at once, I thought my codes were messed up until I tried again with the codes that did not work. -everything is just so bright, there's no setting for it. Shop is white, main menu is white, pass is white, end screen is white, it sucks playing at night. -Another problem with the prize cards besides the absolute flash-bang it gives you is that when you have the required prize cards to win, you still have to manually click on them to add them to your hand. Say you only have 2 prize cards left; you knock out an opponent's V Pokémon. The game should automatically end right there like it does in PTCGO, but for some reason, you have to manually click on the 2 prize cards left, THEN win the game (double flash bang yay!). -The card Forest Seal Stone has been disabled for WEEKS due to a bug and has not seen any fix at all. Why is it taking so long to fix a card? -The incredibly ugly and creepy cheap looking 3D avatars. We literally have good trainer models we can borrow from the Pokémon video games and have great customization on them but instead we get these hideous uncanny Polar Express models. I rather have picture avatars at this point. The animation in the emotes, it just annoys you. Even winning doesn't feel good because you see your disgusting cheap model doing those cringe motions.

It looks like a mobile first product that's been adapted into a desktop client. Where possible they consolidated playmat detail for text boxes. Instead of a VSTAR card they have a text box to the right. Because it appears to be mobile first I'm worried any fixes will be unlikely. Big issue with the card animations is that they basically have the one animation rather than separate animations like PTCGO does. Play energy, slap. Play item, slap. Play Pokémon, slap. Whereas PTCGO will simply attach an energy straight to a Pokémon. Not sure if you noticed but deck search cards let you see the cards that you can grab rather than checking your whole deck. You have to click again to see all cards instead of just the "valid" ones. It's an unnecessary add considering how most players will use search cards to also check their deck to see what's prized.

1- I love PTCGO. As a casual player i never felt the need for an upgrade. As a f2p player i always had a great experience and all the decks that i wanted to play. 2- One of the best things about PTCGO is that in its simplicity it captures very closely the tabletop experience. That is a plus in my book and it helps players transitions between mediums. With live they are betting to hard on the mobile experience and as a consequence we get a digital experience, far removed from the real feel of holding and manipulating a deck. 3- Like with the videogames, they are going with the "minimum investment for maximum profit" mentality. 4-They should hire experts on the field and work closely with the community for feedback and manage expectations.

The most frustrating part to me is that with all the sunk costs that have clearly gone into this project, they're unwilling to bring someone(s) like yourself onto the team (or at least as a consultant) that's informed and able to provide actually valuable, honest feedback. I imagine a common corporate scenario where they released the "beta", got trashed for it, and said "well, we already spent X money developing this so we're not gonna completely restructure it" even though that's exactly what it needed. They'd rather just keep the broken client in tact and watch it fail it looks like. Also if I'm gonna be completely honest, anyone still saying "it's still in beta" about anything related to modern games is an idiot. How many times do we have to see the same story unfold of a public beta with next to zero changes to the final release before people get the message. Betas haven't been testing grounds looking for actual feedback for probably over a decade now, they're just there to advertise. In the age of patches and updates, the real alphas and betas have become final releases where the masses are used as QA, and this isn't even limited to F2P anymore.

You can't restructure it with the same team if the team is a big part of the issue. It would just have to be cancelled at that point if rebooting it is truly the only fix and what exists now simply can't be improved no matter how hard they try. We also don't know when the PTCGO contract ends, so we'd likely be without any client for 2-4 years.

While I do like that the animations are speedy, as it decreases wait time between actions, it does eventually feel like sensory overload with how needlessly flashy and unnatural it all is. New players aren't going to know precisely what's occurring when constant card effects happen at its speed. There needs to be some kind of log for it or a means to neatly display exactly what effect is attempting to resolve in each instance without sloppily slapping cards in your face. Pokemon is also typically all about lighthearted fun. The visual and audio design of the game just doesn't feel like they want you to have fun with its bland interface, ugly avatars, and forgettable music.

Funny story related to TPCI's attempted promotion of Live... I bought the Arceus VStar *Ultra* Premium Collection. The $100 one. Advertised on the Pokemon site AND on the box it came with a Card Code. Didn't have the code. Had to go to Pokemon Support, and after explaining the situation, showing multiple proofs of purchase, and giving them a _very lengthy_ write out when they tried to claim there was "confusion", the $100 product _didn't_ include a card code, and attempted to push a *SINGLE DIGITAL BOOSTER PACK* as a consolation... They eventually said they would provide me "Arceus-Themed cards". ...Oh, but not to my PTCGO account. They only intend on giving me the cards owed to me *On PTCG Live.* And since I've not migrated to it, I basically have to wait until I do or am forced to do so then make a 2nd support ticket , then refer to the 1st ticket in order to receive the cards. And I specifically made sure my initial support ticket was for PTCGO and not PTCGLive. I really did want to fire back and say they don't get to decide which client my cards should go to! But I honestly was just glad I got that far. But with how trash this Live client is turning out, it really sucks they could get away with this misleading crap. To be clear, not a single Arceus VStar UPC apparently had a code card. I wasn't the only one who got shafted on that end.

I completely agree with what you’re saying for the computer client. The mobile client for live, in my opinion, feels better. It feels like live was made for mobile first and PC second. My biggest plus for live is that I don’t have to spend $400-$500 PER SET to get all the cards I need to make decks. The economy in PTCGO is stupid. Love having the ability to craft cards is better for me monetarily. That’s also more inviting to new players because a new player won’t need to miss rent just to get a fun playable deck. Why would someone want to play lunatone or Regis constantly just because they are cheap to construct. Again, I agree with the graphics but I’m tired of spending a crap ton of money just to be able to continue to play. I love your content Andrew and I think you’re awesome

I’ve seen content creators pick up the game but drop it not long after. They got bored before the can experience the true ptcg experience. If anything, PTCG Live has a better shot at hooking in potential players and KEEP them. At least with Live, they give you a competitively viable deck straight from the get go. You can also craft and buy individual cards. Far more reliable than rng and maybe trading.

I don't know if the regular consumer or fan has that ability with the Pokemon franchise. I understand that the video games and ptcgo/live are seperate entities but there seems to have some correlation among them with products not being polished or done well. The Pokemon company are so lucky that, somehow, they have hardcore fans that will defend their mediocrity and poor products. How does every other digital TCG look and feel better than Pokemon? Is the PTCGL team that ignorant and/or arrogant that they want to do things their own way? Konami has a ton of digital TCG games that the PTCGL can get ideas and inspiration from, yet in 2022, they come up with the current UI and UX and think people are going to be happy? They need to scrap the UI/UX team and get some competent staff or at least a competent director.

Everything you’ve said is absolutely correct. I’ve sank years and years and a lot of my money into PTCGO. I was so sad that when I migrated to Live, and when I came to the understanding that I couldn’t migrate back… it left a sour taste in my mouth. Like why the hell would they release this game if it had several bugs, several downgrades in terms of variety of game modes & card collection or deck building aesthetics. Like you said in the video… it should feel like painting a canvas when building the deck. All of this could cause harm to the player base if not updated, altered or fixed. And on top of all of this, they put in odd art styles for holographic animations, lower quality card images & jarring animations. Now that PTCGO is going to be closing forever, I believe in March 2023, I’m very concerned for the well-being of the community and Pokémon Trading Card Game as a video game. A multi billion dollar company should (with relative ease) be able to compete, or better yet, dominate the Online Card Game market in pretty much every category. Runeterra’s animations are sick and flow beautifully. Hearthstone’s board aesthetics are top notch, as well as the personality behind every card they release. Marvel Snap has great animations and is very play for free friendly. I’ll be sad and devastated if PTCGL doesn’t start making significant changes to the game before March 2023. I LOVE POKÉMON. And I love playing the card game; I’ve played this game for yearsss. And I love collecting all the new or old cards, competitive or simply because they look cool or beautiful. And I want to sink another decade into this great game as a video game…. But only if PTCGL gives the community the love and respect we deserve. Please take our loving instructive criticism and make the best damn card game anyone's ever seen before. Thank you for your upload, and I hope our shared passion of this game and our shared instructive criticism gets seen and handled. Personally, I can definitely understand the complaints. It's obvious Pokemon conceptualized Live from an economic perspective, with little consideration for playability. I have been collecting data on booster pull rates and credit compensation for duplicates. Booster opening is giga-rigged and far from random; chase pulls vastly increase around the 200th pack of a specific set, thereby limiting credit acquisition. The 400 pack hard cap serves a similar purpose: the sooner TPCI can push Live, the sooner they can start monetizing crystals. They just need to tweak the headache-inducing graphics and propensity for erroneous gameplay a little more to engage users long enough to entice microtransactions. That's the end game--welcome to it.

I absolutely abhor the phrase "It's a beta, cut some slack." By the time a game reaches beta phase, the game is foundationally there. It's likely not going to change much between the beta version and the launch product. This is most apparent with recent FPS games. By the time the beta goes live, the foundation for the game exists and likely isn't changing much. We can likely expect this with PTCGL, and it's rather disheartening.
@aubeary190 Жыл бұрын
The thing is that the free cards and crafting system don’t even help you make decks. You get so few credits compared to how much you need to craft a deck that you’re still gonna need to buy a bunch of code cards. So it’s not even F2P friendly; it just makes the experience worse in just about every aspect for no real benefit.
@SpectreXS Жыл бұрын
It's not even pay-to-play efficient. Given that you can't dust cards on demand, you need to open SO MUCH product in order to get a playset of most things and actually start recieving credits, which is worsened by them forcing all packs to be 5-cards. Every single "full art", "alternate art", "gold rare" is gonna be sitting on your dump collection without you being able to get value from it, which you currently can even with ptcgo's bad trading system. Also the amount of credits you get per dusted card in relation to their crafting prices is absurd. 100 credits for an uncommon and 400 for regular rares, which are cards you can trade in bulk in PTCGO, is ludacris. You get around what, 5k credits in your starting gameplay push? That gets you one deck if you build around the free stuff. People are being blinded by the freebies and the thought that having crafting in the first place is some sort of huge privilege, rather than the absolute minimum standard in online tcgs.
@turkeygoblin Жыл бұрын
Yeah that's the worst part for me. Is constantly hearing people say "well the client is bad, but it is way easier to make decks." NO, NO it is NOT, it's actually way harder!! But people are so blind from free Lugias and Celebrations oversight that they don't realize it. They won't until a few expansions come out and Celebrations is gone and all their transfer credits are used up. Live is actually BRUTAL for earning cards/decks and if you do the math you can basically only earn ONE deck per 3 months. That's atrocious. But nobody sees it and it's driving me literally insane.

Saying all that though, looking at it logically, the game can only really get better with time, the issue is though is that you don't want to be waiting a decade before it reaches a point people are content with it. Really the Pokemon Company should have just hired a third party developer and if they were concerned about it being a money sink then add a way to buy in game currency. Hi tricky G🎉, you are right about everything. But there are also additional things that bother me that I would like to mention. 1. Why can I only use a maximum of 400 code cards from a set if I pay for them?! 2. I would like to be able to communicate reasonably properly again. The animation of the faces does not express what I feel and I would like to be able to say "you have a god deck" etc. maybe you could add more phrases there because the communication was not so good with ptcgo either. 3. Why can't the center field adapt to the stadium cards. that would be so cool and also something new. now would be the chance. it would also be great to include play mats to personalize your setup even more. 4. I would like to be able to play cards like boss and Switch just like in ptcgo... that makes me sad and it's totally pointless to reprogram something that good. if the english is not so good, please excuse me. Greetings from Germany, Berlin❤

As bad as it looks visually.. the things that really bug me are how the player has to interact with the game such as: When you have to select a card from your deck, the deck counter goes down to 0 making it look like you're about to deck out.. just because technically you're holding your deck?! Having to still choose your prize cards after winning the game?! Not only that but also having to press "Select" after choosing prize cards. You still have to press "Done" during set-up phase even when there's NOTHING else you can possibly do. For example, you have 1 Basic Pokémon in your hand so you put it as your active. Why do I have to press done.. I know it sounds nitpicky but it's not needed at all. Modified damage (Powerful Energy etc) shows the total damage that will be dealt which I like.. but only works on your active AND only when it's your turn.. and for some reason doesn't show modified damage on the opponent's cards wether it's active or benched. I hate that you have to create a deck to see what's in your collection. There's STILL no keybinds. At least give us an option to do this. Imagine if you could press ESC or SHIFT to go back, Space-bar to end turn, W,S,A,D or arrow keys to scroll through cards and menus etc. Honestly, my favourite thing so far (during a game) in PTCG Live is how fast it draws cards into each player's hands.

I have to agree that PTCGL is a shadow of PTCGO. What really kills it for me is the lack of reward for doing anything more than completing your dailies. I ported (regrettably) on day one of NA release of the beta and I find myself growing more and more disinterested and spending less time caring about the game as a whole by the day.

While I do wish it was more visually appealing and the the UI was just......better when playing the game, I feel like I'm in the vast majority when it comes to the pokemon trading card game. I actually don't have a computer that can support PTCGLive or PTCGO. I have really wanted to play the game for years now, but never had a system to play it on. It's actually really fun to pull up my phone and play a game when I want now, but I still do hope they can make improvements to make it the best possible game it can be.

Had a weird glitch on ptcgl. My opponent used magical echo (altaria) to move 260 damage onto my active. It did it 10 damage at a time and then timed me out (during their attack), skipping my next turn! Had to laugh but that's not OK 😅

Idk if it's just the state of standard right now, or the fact they gave out free Lugia's to literally everyone who can win a single match, but I hate the new game. Any game I come to, no matter what deck or mode I'm playing, I'm facing Lugia. It's only Lugia. The only deck that has any sort of chance is Lugia. After playing for hours and hours on end, I've played only 3 matches that weren't a Lugia match up. And the other matches lasted 2 seconds because of course it did. It just doesn't feel fun anymore, and I can guess 95% of the decks I'm playing. This just isn't enjoyable.

@turkeygoblin Жыл бұрын
This won't change either. People are blinded by free Lugias and Celebrations dust, but anything beyond that is really sparse. You simply cannot earn enough packs to make other decks. 5 cards per pack? What a joke.

It feels like they saw MTG Arena and tried to copy the UI for it. The main difference is MTG Arena's UI is generally good, specially the deck builder. It has the same format, but instead of small card thumbnails, the deck builder has an easy to read list at the side, and you can change the zoom level of your card library. Then if you click deck details, it goes to a screen that gives a better rundown of your deck. There's also an option to change the deck builder UI to be closer to what MTGO and PTCGO use if that is what a player prefers. The search function is quite advanced as well, if you know how to use tags and shorthand filters you can easily pinpoint a card you need wit ha few lines of text.

I just started on live. I've played a little ptcgo but never wanted to grind theme decks for packs. The new game feels more fair with credits to craft a card. The grind is better because everyone has at least a little variety with better decks. The client doesn't feel too bad on mobile. Maybe players transferring aren't liking it because they are used to the old one but it doesn't feel that bad for a new player. Just my opinion.
@itssheaboi Жыл бұрын
I just don't see why they didn't port TCG online to be available on every device instead of practically making a whole new version of the game. I personally think the mobile version is okay but I miss the trading feature as well.
@MichaelCoombes776 Жыл бұрын
AFAIK the main reason for the new client is that PTCGO is outsourced to DireWolf Digital, and TPC want full control of the system (which is fair, it's a Pokemon game)..... but if they want something that matches the rest of the Pokemon brand they've got a long way to go.
@coolyeh1017 Жыл бұрын
It is because TPCi wants full control over the client. With PTCGO there is a third company involved, which means less control and money spent that is needed to pay those third parties.
@MagnaDrake Жыл бұрын
Its also because the PTCGO client is using a really old version of Unity Engine. Porting it to modern devices, while possible, would be a pretty big undertaking that you might as well just build a new client using modern engine capabilities. Which they, to their credit, actually tried to do, but executed terribly.
@johnphilpecadizo7066 Жыл бұрын
why would they make a new ptcg game rather than upgrade or update the ptcgo? i think ptcgo is a good game, yes it has it's flaws but it is still better than this new ptcg game.

Not only that, it gets really dizzy watching the short videos of Live that you put there. I feel, that the way it is, I won't be able to watch any of the videos you make with the new one if it doesn't change. Animations and card colors need to be fixed and flashes removed for the health of some people.
@brianjaillet7401 Жыл бұрын
This is my first time seeing Pokémon Live. Look at that set up.😢 I wish they would just use Pokémon TCG online and just focus on that. I heard you can't trade on Live either. You are right Andrew, this will hurt online player base. I use Pokémon TCG online for fun and testing out my own variation of decks. That deck building set up on there looks like I won't ever want to be on. Tell the investors to read the comments about this subject because I'm telling you right now. I won't play live unless it's exactly like Pokémon TCG online.
