Because Japanese given names ending in the syllable 'オ'[o] are generally one of the most common boy names like 'マサオ'(Masao) from Crayon Shin-chan, or 'すえお'(Sueo) from Chibi Maruko-chan. Moreover, when it's written as a Kanji(a Japanized Mandarin), it's represented as '男', which literally means 'a man'. So, Putting 'オ' after any word they want is an easy formula when naming sth whose gender is male. (For example, one of the Japanese popular KZbinr 'Hikakin' named his male cat 'Maruo')

Btw if anyone was wondering, no you cannot transfer pokemon from the beta to a mainline game unsurprisingly, if u didn't see, at the start of the game u automatically have a pikachu, snivy, dratini, and an exeggutor in ur party, but sadly the save file type is not the same as usual pokemon games so no save file editors can read it, unless u can somehow convert the files into one big sav file, the pokemon are stuck.

They most likely intended for every single Pokemon to have far better animations, but they needed to create 3D models for all 700+ Pokemon and forms for every single Pokemon. It's possible they needed to scale back the detailed battle animations for Pikachu and possibly other Pokemon they worked on because there was no way they were going to be able to finish them for all 700+ Pokemon in the time they were given to complete the game.

Pikachu's pose looks better in battle, but doesn't make sense outside of it. They wanted models who looked good both in battle and outside it. They could just have different models for each, but given the fact they had to do the same thing for 600+ creatures, they went for the easier way.

The game engine appears to be quite sophisticated, although it is full of placeholders. Lots of lag though... The Pokémon model is a Creatures production, not Game Freak, so while you were waiting for the model to be completed, were you showing billboards instead of models?

Technically its not the hardware it was made for tho, it was supposed to be used on a 3ds devkit. They are slightly more powerful than retail 3ds consoles which explains the lag.

Oh I bet switching something in the Luma switcher app might fix that or enabling luma switcher somewhere, it is a Japanese only tittle let alone a demo build you probably weren’t supposed to run on a retail system so the retail system doesn’t know what to do and crashes

Prototype is most apt of those two options. Once the game is playable from start to finish but isn’t feature complete or assets aren’t finalized, that’s the alpha. Beta is once assets and features are finalized but QoL and bug tests need to be performed. Once it clears Beta, it goes into gold standard or release candidate.
