Pokémon Yellow (Part 33): Saffron City, Silph Company

Part 33 of Pokémon Yellow! Turns out I messed up earlier, so I return to Celadon City. There, I get the Fly ability, which lets me zoom around the map, and I get some water, which lets me get into Saffron Cifty. I fight in a fakeout gym there, then I tackle the Silph Company maze thing! This one is a multi-level maze, and I get fairly close to the end.

Imagine playing this game when it came out without a game guide. The newer games are a lot better at telling you where and what to do. This one it more like a very open RPG

I'm told that Red/Blue are a lot easier, and anyone who played those games first (i.e. ALL first-gen fans) would be able to power through Yellow without a guide. I just picked the wrong game, I guess!It would really help, if every gym leader guided you to the next one. Like, when you defeat Erika, she says, "You beat me, but you'll never beat Sabrina in Saffron City!". Something really simple like that.

Red/Blue are basically the same game without pikachu as your starter. Everything else is the same. As a huge fan of Pokemon I usually advise new players to try the generation 3 or 4 games on there first play through as they give you more direction on where to go, but don't hand it to you like they do in X and Y. You get clues and some of the characters do tell you were to do before you leave each town, but the map is still open enough where you can explore. Also the remakes of these games is for the gameboy advanced and it had an item in your bag that was made to help newcomers find their way through the region. Part of why I think it was a this game was easier for me and many kids when it came out had to do with us watching the pokemon anime with had a character going the same route as you did.
