If you let it grow up in the dark garden, the highlights won’t turn red. I recommend letting your chao grow up in the normal/hero garden, preferably hero because it gives more exp. If you really want to use the dark garden, then don’t raise your chao in there after it evolves for the first time because after that, the chao will stay the same and won’t change form/color.

just note: you should probably get the run drives as eggman/ tails cause the other characters like shadow have situations in alot of levels where you'll be forced to pick up other drives or it'll be hard to avoid them.

lol that isn't a shadow chao. To make a red-shadow chao you have to obviously make it a run type chao, but you also need to level up his power (no more than the run level) and it will turn red. you're welcome

Mine turned purple at the tips, and it evolved into a Shadow the Hedgehog chao. So it will still evolve, no matter what color. Hope this helped!!!😉😉😉
