It is baffling. My only guess is they rushed to get it out for the anniversary. It would explain why they didn't put more thought into the additional content.

I think unfortunately they just rushed it out without thinking. It's definitely going to go down as a very poor mistake. Especially when you consider how the other 3 remakes were received by fans.

Correction. You can get more fire types via the Grand Underground. You can get Houndoom after the 1st gym. But then again, why not just put in the Platinum dex

I have been playing BDSP for a month or so now and have been really enjoying it. I found it odd to see it surrounded by so much negativity. But from my perspective, i stopped playing main console games at emerald. I never even played diamond or anything after. BDSP bridged a gap for me to bring me back into the franchise. It feels like the gameplay i remember and i'm not overwhelmed by 600 pokemon that i've never seen. Now i am interested in picking back up on the current titles. So IMO, the direction they took wasn't a total loss.

I think that's a fair assessment and I understand your perspective. For me personally because 4th Gen was very very good (I feel 3 - 5 was honestly some of the best times I've had) to see how many upgrades remakes had compared to BDSP was extremely frustrating. Especially considering how incredible Platinum was as a 3rd game. I'm glad it's brought you back into the franchise! Having a positive effect is how the series should be.

The only way GF can save this garbage is to remake platinum that is open world in full human proportions and also fully compatible with scarlet and violet.

Not to forget that BDSP were bugged games upon release which even softlocks you in a few places like Veilstone city,Snowpoint gym. Let's hope that Johto and Unova remakes won't have Chibi artstyle.BDSP has tons of issues like: 1.Following pokemon are now an obstacle+aren't scaled properly like in LGPE and SwSh the previous games and unofficial devs had to fix the size btw using mods.Following pokemon like Ekans,Dratini,Dragonair,Milotic just slide around instead of moving on their own. Very Lifeless indeed 2.Lack of Platinum content like a bigger Sinnoh dex,Move tutors(Yeah a so called modern pokemon game that is priced for 60$) and Giratina being a part of the storyline.ORAS treated Ray much better in the post-game.BDSP did nothing 3.No Mega Evolutions or atleast Z-moves/G-max. LGPE and ORAS had Megas 4.Air Balloon,Safety goggles are some of the items that don’t even exist. They exist in ORAS 5.The Elite 4 and Champ straight up cheat to get 6 IV pokemon(which are below level 100 like seriously you can't IV train if ur pokemon is below Lv 100), you can’t access them before post-game and battle frontier either

I think no Platinum style content was definitely a key issue for most people. OR nothing along the lines of the Delta Episode. I don't think they will do that art style again if they make a remake. People were uncertain before it was released. They will be instantly turned off if it happens again.

Yeah I will admit that's not entirely fair looking back on this video - They aren't in the dex but you can get some underground - I should of mentioned that as such.

If this was made from the time where Pokemon was still good we would have a full National Dex until the Pokemon of Legends Arceus, we could use every gimmick and that was the Magic of Pokemon and I say that as someone who only started playing when Lets Go was released. You wanna see my reaction that there was more than 151 Pokemon?! I was in Love and expected to get access to everything in Sword and Shield but no. I did get fun and enjoyment out of that games but I wasnt satisfied at all with the Lack of Pokemon. It made me angry that not all of them were in Sword and Shield. So I tried out Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and it was my greatest Pokemon Experience of all Time. If you showed the Sinnoh Remakes to a Player from the Time of Diamond and Pearl, they would enjoy that game, if you showed it to someone from the Time of Black and White or later the Magic would be lost simply because the Pokemon make the game appealing in the first place🤷🏼‍♂️

also generations 1, 2, and 3 are relatively unplayable unless you have the old DS with the spare slot, or you bought the virtual Consol games for generations one and two for FireRed and LeafGreen so those remakes were good for the time, diamond pearl and platinum are still completely playable, so at least right now Generation for remakes were not needed.

Nintendo gave out BDSP items through Mystery Gift that allowed players to catch Arceus, Darkrai, and Shaymin from in game events. Saved data from previous Pokémon titles gifted players with Mew and Jirachi. BDSP wasn’t the best remake, but definitely a good game imo.

My biggest issue is the increasingly improving standards of remakes makes it fall a little flat? It was nice for the distribution events to actually be available without the use of any cheating device compared to the original Gen IV? But even so I think it suffers because of the lack of improvement compared to the other remakes.

No. It's aweful. Pearl was my first Pokemon game and I hated it then. Everything is soooo sloooww. Luckily my 2nd game was white 2 the best game in the franchise so that made up for it.

No they were actually really bad, the game shipped with the vast majority of its post game locked behind a day one patch, the fact that the games shipped with a crap ton of gamebreaking glitches and softlocks and the fact that it took multiple patches to fix a broken game was definitely a huge problem, that isn’t even mentioning the fact that it was way too faithful to DP which were extremely flawed games and arguably one of the worst Pokémon games ever made is also a bad thing, the fact that it didn’t take any major features from platinum is also a negative thing, this is by far not only the worse remake ever made but arguably worse then let’s go in terms of a remake and I geniunely didn’t think any other remake would be as bad as let’s go but turned out bdsp was worse then let’s go simply due to how flawed the game is like the originals and how the game shipped. Bdsp in my opinion is the worst Pokémon game ever created and I don’t think any other game would top that unless they create another legends game for johto and decide to outsource johto remakes (which god forbid that happens), I prefer a good johto remake in ken sugimori’s art style in the style of gen 9 and not have its quality sacrificed for another flawed legends game with poor visuals and horrendous draw distance and repetitive boring gameplay loop.
