the reason pokemon seem harder to catch underground is because they changed it to where if you're a lower level than the wild pokemon it drastically lowers the catch rate

No, is doesn't *seem* like it, the catch rate is just lowered before you become champion. The same thing goes for the Wild Area in Galar.

@@cdoggo3352 No, he's right lol, you can easily test this with high catch-rate pokemon in the GU. I had a red-health, sleeping ralts pop out of a ball after 0 or 1 shakes several times in a row, then leveled up a bit to match it and caught one no problem. Ralts' catch rate is 235, btw

I was actually thinking about going through this myself, and the pokemon in the ground underground ( at least the beginning) are considerably leveled up compared to everything else so it makes leveling easier in the beginning

Not only can you get a Mew at the start, you can also get a Jirachi and Manaphy at the start. Before the 2nd gym you can have 3 mythicals on your team.

I wish more gym leader would use pokemon of different types like Volkner. Countering their weaknesses with counters adds a little bit of difficulty. Although they shouldn't be completely outlandish and follow a theme. Like colors, lore, benefit from weather if they use it (like using grass pokemon in fire type gym's) or the ability to learn moves of the gym leaders type.

@@yoiptree exactly 💯 %. Remember how the fire type elite 4 member only had 2 fire types? Infernape and rapidash. His others were lopunny, drifblim, and steelix. The diamond and pearl pokedex sucked in type coverage.

Actually, the strength and variety of Pokemon in the hideaways are determined by your game progress, specifically your badge count, when you become the champion, and when you get the National Dex. Edit: Okay, so I checked the wiki to fact check a reply I got recently, and it turns out I was partially wrong. The badge count and beating the Elite Four only affect the strength of Hideaway Pokemon. The variety is actually affected by five specific milestones, being obtaining Defog, Strength, the Icicle Badge, Waterfall, and the National Dex.

FYI, the game lets you get one guaranteed turn when encountering roaming Mespirit. You can use a slower pokemon with mean look and it will still hit before Mespirit flees. No need to use master ball!

In the originals, especially if you have a +attack nature, chimchar should be able to relatively reliably beat Roark after levelling up to level 14 and becoming a monferno. You outspeed all of his pokemon even if you have a -speed nature and they have a +speed one. Geodude is a probable 2HKO with mach punch, dealing up to 28.2% damage with rock throw. Onix is a guaranteed 3HKO, dealing up to 29% with two rock throws. Cranidos is a guaranteed 2HKO, but might, if geodude and onix attacked all times and rolled high, kill with a headbutt high roll. If either of the preceding two (ideally the geodude) used stealth rocks, you win though. In BDSP, Geodude has rollout rather than rock throw, which if it chooses it does less damage to your monferno, but if it uses defense curl, it turns into a 3hko. But the worse change is Cranidos getting bulldoze, which will KO you after damage from geodude and onix - so, in BDSP, unlike in the originals, Monferno cannot solo Roark without healing in battle or overleveling. But with the chimchar line getting powerup punch in BDSP, you actually can defeat Roark guaranteed even without a +Atk nature - Geodude is a guaranteed 2HKO even if it uses defense curl, Onix is a 2HKO as well, and Cranidos is a 1HKO thanks to being at +4 from the four power-up punches previously used.

Honestly, I like the change for Spiritomb; The B2W2 xtransciever sidequest was just convoluted, and doing the marathon to get it from the Quiet Cave pokewalker course was just painful. At least ORAS made it a regular static encounter in the sunken ship postgame, but its a neat mon that got done dirty for such a randomly excessive way to obtain. Still not as bad as Porygon's evolutions at least...

After you do the ferris wheel meeting, somewhere around 30 to 50 calls, then they'll trade you for random hidden ability pokemon including a level 50 HA Spiritomb. Serebii explains everything and lists all the pokemon you can get, as there are some differences depending on your gender, but Spiritomb is one of the ones available to both. You actually get a pile of pokemon you can't get anywhere else from it, and its repeatable. Its one of the more tedious grinds for a PoC of the games...

Yes, you could talk to the same person by leaving the underground every time, but you still needed to find someone to connect to with the DS wireless. Making it completely unobtainable for most people even when it was the current generation. The Pokewalker Quiet Cave 100,000 watt course being the more doable option should not be considered a good thing.
