Early generation Bug types are essentially playing the game on hard mode. Gen 1-3 was a dark place for Bug types. People forget that even Scizor wasn't an offensive powerhouse until Platinum when it got Technician Bullet Punch, and it wasn't until Gen 5 when Bug Pokémon were treated as less of a joke and more as a serious type. They're much better than what they once were, but they're still by far the weakest type in the game, and I'm saying that as someone who has used Mono-Bug since Pokémon Yellow. Also great vid! The drama had me hooked! ❤

Gen 7 helped out bug types a lot with araquanid, golisopod, ribombee, vikavolt, buzzwole, and pheremosa all being great Pokemon as well as buffing leech life a huge amount.

I once did a bug only run in HG (not a nuzlocke, I'm not a masochist) and i have to say, Johto is surprisingly full of bugs, both bad and good ones. (Yanmega, Heracross, Scyther, Forretress, shuckle, ect)

@jasonreed7522 you also have access to Parasect and Tangrowth. I got lucky with someones hidden power being ice and tangrowth having ancient power but the amount of cheese you gotta pull off is unreal

@@BlackStarRyo i thought i typed parasect but definitely forgot about tangela/tangrowth. And i imagine a lot of cheese would be needed as so many gyms and several E4 members use types either super effective against grass or resistant to it. (Not to mention the poison, flying, and bug secondary typings also being bad for offense) And ignoring the boss fights, so many team rocket members use zubat, poison/flying isn't easy for grass to deal with. And none of the Pokemon on this list are famous attackers known for their hyper offense. Either they are frail technical/support moms like Parasect & Jumpluff, or just bulky like Tangrowth or Meganium. Honestly it would be a hard enough challenge not using nuzlocke rules, but as a hardcore nuzlocke its definitely not for the faint of heart.
