One thing about this game is it just barely scratched the surface of something cool by having a "pasture" instead of a PC to store your extra Pokemon. I wish that it would just in subtle ways impact the town (beyond the Pokemon the town actually asks for.) So like if you had a dozen Starlies, then maybe once in a while you'd see Starlies on the roofs of the town. Stuff like that. Just program in some invisible slots around town, like "bird spot" or "fish spot" and if you've got a matching Pokemon in your pasture, then sometimes it'll be standing in that spot

They could take it further and sort them into categories (like small, medium, and large), which affect where they show up. The movements look genuine, instead of some copy-paste template that can be applied to all Pokémon with certain body types. Hopefully in the future they do something similar to what it looks like they’re gonna do with Breath of the Wild 2 where they reuse the world and assets from the first one, and just add lots more to it. I mean it’s kinda justified because people are just starting to get used to even be around Pokémon, in this game you’re literally seeing the very beginnings of Pokémon training. Well it’s not like they have literal decades worth of an industry to learn from... oh wait. That’s exactly what they have. Why, after over 30 years worth of gaming development, is the lack of experience a valid excuse? Instead of learning from the thousands of companies that have made mistakes over the years, and corrected those mistakes, you’d rather make those exact same mistakes yourself? It genuinely baffles me.
@Krystalmyth2 жыл бұрын
I won't. Their story writing will never, ever improve. If they were willing to release this writing then that means they don't know what good writing looks like. They hired and PAID someone to create this story. They felt this was the banger storyline to feature in their avant-garde freeroaming Pokemon release. Which means they either do not care about the story, or genuinely felt that this was something worthwhile. So there's no way for them to fix this without creative layoffs, which would require the game to fail. Any success will lead to reinforcement of the same old bullshit.
@AJ_Ol2 жыл бұрын
Don’t you have innocent wildly skillers to go kill?
@Amins882 жыл бұрын
Well, it's not so much that they thought this was a "good" story. Just that the series kind of pigeon-holed itself into trying to justify a child's game about literal dog-fighting as best as it can with the whole "Pokemon and humans learn to work together" type deal. Honestly though, there are little bits that are at least a little intriguing towards the end. The whole theme of "earning people's trust as an outsider" feels somewhat realized when you're exiled from the village, and the whole speech about "not being able to control what others think of you, just stay true to your principles" was a good lesson. But these are few and far between.

There's always room for improvement, but I'd take this as a baseline for a whole Legends series already. This has been by far my most favourite game to play in a long time and it's all because of the smooth gameplay. The story wasn't too bad either, just quite basic. It's straightforward if you skip everything you don't need to do. Go to each area once, beat their boss and then beat the final boss without anything in between. If the next one goes more into the depth and feels less random with a god tier protagonist that magically fell from the sky, it's good to go.

For me, I think arceus is a serious step in the right direction. If they take their time with the next legends game (which I think will become a spinoff series like snap or mystery dungeon) it could be one of if not the best game we've seen from game freak. The parts that were most lacking were story, and tangible world building, like having pokemon actually interact instead of them just waltzing around like they are completely blind to each other, or to see a battle between a torchic and a mudkip,, just something to show that they aren't a bunch of robots just waiting to be caught. For me, the story was also pretty lame, the dialog was decent but I just couldn't get attached to the characters too well. I did like how they went a little harder with this game though, like not avoiding the subject of death or harm, though it's obviously not on the same level as a game like black and white 2.
@_UnknownStory2 жыл бұрын
The one part of the storyline that was pretty cool was when they exiled you. I was like "ohhhhh here we go, now the real survival begins. Maybe I'll have to make my own tents, find a pasture to put my Pokemon in, etc." But they give you all the tools anyways and like 30 minutes later you were back in the village so what was the point. I mean it was clearly a story beat but could have been fleshed out to much, much more.

@Squishito2 жыл бұрын
They also kick you out for literally no reason too. The commander guy just decides he hates you one day and goes apeshit. They could have done like a Mystery Dungeon thing (which is clearly what this story is poorly emulating) where you're framed or something (like by Volo?) Or make the player actually have to do something for the greater good that appears really evil and you can't explain, like the PMD Explorers games. But nah, you just get thrown out for the lolz and they do nothing with it. That analogy between Kendrick being the quivilant of the game play and Jake Paul for the story was supposed to be a joke but perfectly represented this game. Best reviewer and shoe eater out there big ups dunkey.
