This is one of the greatest features to come out of PLA, with the introduction of being able to pull out your Pokémon at anytime. I think the greatest interpretation of player to Pokémon interaction now, would be a culmination of Gen 7’s Amie, Pokémon Camp’s toys, and PLA’s great accessibility. But if we’re being really picky, I just want to be able to pet my Pokémon again.

one of the greatly underappreciated details of the game for sure imo-- I hope they expand on this greatly with things like full-party follow pokemon and feeding or petting or throwing toys for them in the future, and maybe a few more 'play' animations that aren't attacks. Also the eye tracking on the pokemon is the best thing ever-- there was a point where I just threw out some pokemon and ran around them, watching their eyes track to me before, they turn their head, before they turn their bodies. It's that little extra bit of polish that really pushes some of the pokemon to feel like they're alive for me.

The eye tracking is something I didn't expect to see from Pokemon at all. They could have just had their heads turn and kept it at that but the added eye movement is such a great little detail that's way above what I hoped for. The little interactions the player trainer has with wild pokemon when you're hanging around with a group is great too, they'll smile at them and it just looks like they're having a wonderful time and I love it.

I’m cool with them cutting the number of pokemon in new games if it means each one is given several more fun animations/interactions and more care is given to their placement in the over world . Quality over quantity, an immersive experience is much more valuable to me than having hundreds and hundreds of pokemon.

We could get both though. The same team could make a game with 1000 Pokemons and that level of detail. They'd just have to spend four times longer on the game. Assuming they spent 3 years on Arceus, that would make it a ten year project, so 1000 _may_ be asking for too much xD! Not unheard of though. But if Time is that big of a constraint, they can also just hire more animators to get faster. "Time is money." That also means every limit is a question of budget. And budget should absolutely not be an issue for The Pokemon Company. They have the most engrossing franchise ever. My point is 250 isn't the maximum we can expect in a game like that. In fact, it's not enough imo. 500 would be a great middle ground, and they'd just need to take a couple more years. Or, even better : they could easily add Pokemons with updates. They did that with SwSh. Assuming they spend 6 years on a game (the time required for a Pokemon Legends with 500 Pokemons), they can also spend the next four years adding more creatures. It will never happen. But not because we can't expect it. Because The Pokemon Company desperately wants to release one game per year. Whoever is in charge could easily choose to slow down their rythm. But they won't because they only care about money. So, this isn't about "quantity vs quality".

@@Dante02d12 that’s not sustainable. Yes now maybe it’d take 5 years to make a really good next gen Pokémon games with 1000 Pokémon but what happens when we have 2000 Pokémon? They have to stop including every single Pokémon at some point, not to mention I don’t think it’s fun when completing the Pokédex is a complete nightmarish task that makes the shiny charm inaccessible to most players. Of course I would love them to spend more time on each game and I think 400-500 is a much nicer number of pokemon than 250 so I agree with you there. The issue is to do so they’d just be slashing their profits and that’s a hard sell. BDSP was developed in like a year with minimal budget and resources and still sold better than SWSH (so far), no matter how much fans complain about games coming out too quickly the sales figures say otherwise and no amount of pressure from hardcore fans even makes a dent in it since the casual audience is so colossally huge. You’d have to convince a for profit company that they should release half as many games that in all likelihood won’t sell any better which just isn’t going to happen. Best thing you can do is not buy the games until their quality is high enough for you, but at this point boycotting the most profitable franchise on the planet is impossible.

@@frickinfrick8488 Yes, 2000 would probably be way too much. But given that they've only added 60/70 new Pokemons per generation since 6G, we're far from that point. I think Arceus gave us the 900'th Pokemon. Let's say they're releasing one generation every 5 years. That's 120 new creatures per _decade._ We wouldn't reach 2000 until 90 years! Releasing one game every 5 years could totally be sustainable. This is the time some of the biggest developers take for their games. You don't see an Elder Scroll, GTA or Witcher every 5 years. And yet, these are among the top sales all the time. GTA5 is still among the regular Top sales, even 8 years after its release. Pokemon could be the same. Hell, I'm sure the franchise would be just as much profitable. Remember the goodies are what make the biggest part of their profit! Releasing the games less often wouldn't hurt that much the sales of plushies, cards and everything else. Of course, like you said, that would be asking for businessmen to not do their business... I don't think BDSP was made in a single year. But these weren't made by Game Freak, they hired another group for that one, so they don't slow down or affect the development of the main game series.

They could've easily just slapped on a few idle animation for the Pokemons and call it a day, and they probably would've saved a lot of money and sold as many copies, but they decided to do much more, and really make the Pokemons feel alive!

I feel as though they want to do this for every game they made but the Pokemon company wants these games out each year, preventing them from making little details like this. I'm sure by giving IIRC to make Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, they were able to have more time to work on this game. So hopefully they should be given time to work on the data for the game so we can have more of this. If that means graphics be less than what they should be, then I'm all for it.

The one thing that's strange to me is that with these features, you can't have them follow you! It just seems so weird that you can send them out anywhere but then they just stay still. I thought they'd walk around a bit at least, but that would ruin scenic shots, I guess. I just wish I could see my own spheals roll instead of only wild ones.

They wouldve had to make the terrain specifically for it, combined the fact they had to animate new running/walking animations for 248 mons of their 1st game of this kind

@@skullerclawerbandicoot7966 they... already did though. All the Pokemon in the game already have walking and running animations. And they walk and run around pretty much all the terrain. You see it when they're wild. They only stop once you catch them, so it's slightly jarring (though not the worst thing in the world. I'd just love a "come here" command". Currently, they only walk after capture during battle when you get close to them

@@skullerclawerbandicoot7966 Adding to what Johto Jonny said, *every* Pokémon since SM has walking/running animations. While textures got tweaked and animations changed, the models have remained the exact same from the 3DS games as they made them "future proof" by their own words, so as long as the regional forms have the same rigs as the OG forms, they only really need to add the aforementioned animations for the new 'mons.

I knew about the chain of communication with individual Pokemon... but I had no idea you could link the whole party and cheer to all of them. This is such a cool thing I overlooked in this game. Next time I play; I'll probably do this all the time.

I took a clip a few days ago where I was hiding in grass to try not to scare a shiny krickitune. Another krickitune came from my right off screen, walked past right next to my left, stopped for a sec to shake his bum at me (you can hear the single stamp sound as he did it) and carried on his pathing 😂 I took him too 😂

I found all of this out on my own and it was super fun to see XD I was messing around throwing my Pokémon around and discovered they talked to each other, slept, etc, and then proceeded to spend like 2 hours doing it with all of my different Pokémon

I actually think PLA took a big step back from previous pokemon games in this area. In Sun and Moon you could pet your pokemon. In Sword and Sheild you could play with them in the camp where they could walk around. In PLA they just stand where you release them, and they have a couple of animations, a lot of them just idle. I was not impressed tbh

I think their nature changes what they do when you send them out because I was choosing between alpha lilligant and shiny lilligant for my party and my alpha kept falling asleep like alot while my shiny was just happily dancing I looked at my alpha to see what could of caused it and my alpha is an relaxed nature

I think they already thought about this idea too, but maybe there'll be much problem like how will they follow you when you're surfing using basculegion, or when you're climbing, or gliding, and other things.

@Nocturne In games like HGSS, when you get on a bike or use a traveling HM that the Pokémon can′t follow, they′d just disappear into their Pokéball; same for if they got caught on objects or were too big for certain areas, so they could easily replicate that feature in PLA!

I don’t know why your Pokémon can’t follow you around, having them stand still is disappointing. I loved the feature in Heartgold and there’s no reason they shouldn’t have added it as they already have walking, running animations for almost every Pokémon in the game
