@@Beyondthe5thPanel well thats actually normal. Your starter is considered your pokemon, and badges actually dont do anything if youre only using your own pokemon. The thing where it says “pokemon up to level _ will obey you” only applies to traded pokemon. Your own pokemon that you catch and raise will ALWAYS obey you, regardless. Even if you trade it to another game, use that games resources to make it level 100 then trade it back, itll still obey you just fine because its your own pokemon, traded or not this is the person who caught it
