Hello Wayfarers, this is a Shiny only challenge in Pokemon Scarlet with some additional rules thrown in. This shiny hunting video was a grind but I really enjoyed journeying through Paldea for my first time with only shiny Pokemon, and I hope you find the adventure to be as fun as I did. **Giveaway details** If you'd like to win all of the Shiny Pokemon that I caught during this challenge, you just need to have a copy of Pokemon Scarlet with a Nintendo Online membership, or a Pokemon Home membership, and a Discord account so that I can communicate with you while we trade, to avoid giving them away to the wrong person. My story is short and sweet. Pokémon Sword and Shield just released, and I got my copy right away and began playing immediately. One Pokémon in particular that I was sure I would have as a main member of my team was Applin. So about an hour into the game, I'm walking through the grass just to get to the next area, and what do I encounter? My first ever encounter, full odds, shiny Applin. My thought was "wait isn't it red?" And when it flashed, I was in absolute awe. I still believe till this day that I was the first ever person in the world to find a full odds first encounter shiny Applin.

I think you're the first KZbinr I've seen who acknowledges the issues in SV for those of us with visual impairments, so thank you for bringing more attention to the issue. Let's hope Nintendo patches it in eventually. Also, congrats on your wedding!!! As for a story, one that kind of relates to this video is from a couple of months ago. I was playing Legends Arceus, working on getting the shiny charm in that game, and over the course of three days I encountered three shiny Pokemon. The first was a shiny male combee, being the first time I caught one I felt a bit proud of finally going through that rite of passage of many pokemon fans. The next day was a shiny goomy. The day after that was a shiny wurmple that ended up evolving into a beautifly.

I unfortunately still do not have the shiny charm in Legends Arceus, so it's wild that I got those three shinies. I don't really have too many plans in PLA other than getting the shiny charm, but I've got a lot of things going on in other games. Currently I'm working on 100%ing Emerald which was my first Pokemon game and am almost done with the national dex. In Platinum I am doing a shiny hunt for Darkrai on New Moon Island which is my first ever full-odds shiny hunt with the old odds. Almost done with my current playthrough of Heart Gold. Once I'm done with that and with the Darkrai hunt I'm planning on making some competitive pokemon in Gen 4 for a playthrough of Battle Revolution. And I am planning on finishing some other playthroughs including White 2, Y, ORAS, and Crystal on the VC so that I can hopefully get that shiny Celebi before they cut off Pokemon Bank access.@@ThisIsTheWayfarer

I shall tell a tale of my first shiny pokémon let me set the scene it’s the year Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon released I got a nintendo 3ds for Christmas sure I’ve played other pokémon games before but this was the first game I owned and so I played it the minute I got it I never got spoiled on anything and I barely knew what exactly shiny hunting was I just wanted to have fun the minute I stepped in the grass after the catching tutorial I ran into a Shiny Yungoos I caught it cause it was Purple and it sparkled when I found it, Her name is Pez like the candy I love her very much

My first shiny in SV was a full odds lone Fletchling that I hesitated to encounter because I thought it was just the sunset affecting the color of the Fletchling 😅 didn’t know it was a shiny until I accidentally bumped into it. I love your vids by the way! You’ve got a fan in me!

Ooo those shiny Fletchlings are for sure difficult to spot, I barely noticed mine too! I think the time of day like you said is important too, the shading on a Pokémon’s model and stuff seems to change colour when it gets darker or lighter, and I often looked at Pokémon during the evening time and thought huh, that’s shiny, just to find that it wasn’t 😭 Thanks so much dude! It’s speculated that Game Freak didn’t put the shiny sound in SV because in a lot of areas Pokemon are capable of spawning outside of the playable area. Meaning Pokémon spawn inside of the mountains, in the walls of the great crater, ect…

That makes a tonne of sense actually, thanks for sharing that! If true, it really does just go to show how flawed SV is, it’s like the vision is there but it just doesn’t quite work in practise. I hope they work the bugs out and give us a much better and improved version for the next Legends game!

(Spoilers ahead, you've been warned) Fun fact about this game, after you defeat them you can then catch the titan Pokemon as they respawn very close to the area you beat them in. Not sure if they're shiny locked or not but it's cool you can catch them. (Oh yeah if you take a titan back to school by flying there, show it to an NPC near a fountain and you get a badge for it and can then call it it's true title when using it in battle FYI)

​@@ThisIsTheWayfarer I got some wrong info in there, sorry, the real thing is, It happened in a romhack called cristal clear, I still got the full ods shiny nidoran (in the park after the milktank gym leader), And was the MVP of the run, but couldn't manage to Transfer It, since it wasn't a "real" Pokémon Game. I ended Up shiny hunting for one, in lets go Pikachu, the 12 hours of pain paid off, and its an exact replica of the og, I kind of lied because, i wanted to be more *legal*, And special but now I think It shoudn't be that way, and that the thing is still unique, also in the gen 1 games, only static encounters can be shiny, because of Determined values that needs to be at a certain number for it to be shiny, this means that only the starters, legendary birds, casino Pokémon, the eevee and Mewtwo can be shiny hunted. Sorry for the fake info.

12:55 what I like to do, especially with the Lvl 3 Sandwhiches, is save before making one and then load the save if I don't find any shinies in the 30 min to not waste any ingredients. obviously that is a lot more worth it when you're using Herba tho

Yes great suggestion and method, especially with those level 3 ones, because Herba Mystica is a bit of a rigmarole to obtain imo! I think I just kept making them as a way to measure time for the shiny finds, and also cause the regular ingredients are pretty cheap, so it was easy to just keep making them 😄

This is a fun short story/anecdote, when Scarlet and Violet first came out my friend and I immediately started playing co-op on the first routes. Neither of us had more than a few pokemon from the area right outside the school at the start and about an hour into the game I hear him GASP he caught a shiny Magikarp in a small pond that early into the game. The mix of being happy for him and wanting to strangle him was palpable lmao Jokes on him though, I've managed to get myself a fleet of shiny Lokix with Kamen Rider nicknames now.

I've got a story!! Back before I beat the game and completed my pokedex I was just wandering about the mountains. As I was going a shiny Dratini popped up! I was stoked and caught her immediatly. After that I jumped down to Fury Falls and there was a shiny Kricketot! Seconds after my Dratini! I caught it and when I came out of the battle and turned around there was a shiny Venomoth just staring at me! Three in under three minutes with no charm or boosts of any kind. It was madness! I also had a gitch happen with a shiny Vaporeon that was so damn cute and I was a plushie of. It looked like she was wearing a dive ball around her middle. Also congrats on the marriage!!!

I remember my first shiny. It was a Roselia back in Ruby version. I was excited, but never used it for some reason. Anyway I sent it to Pokemon Colosseum so I could see it in 3D. I then forgot that I had it there and let my brother start a new file, erasing my first shiny in the process. Also, Armor Tail would've stoppes Eri's Toxicroak from using Sucker Punch. You could've attacked it without fear of a super effective blow.

My story is how I lost a ghost type nuzlock to a fighting type move and it was in scarlet So I had just entered the elite 4 and was doing well with not a single death but that changed when I fought Larry because his flamigo has scrappy. I had my goldengo out because it resists brave bird and is immune to close combat or so I thought, and unsurprisingly it used the mighty fighting move on my steel type to kill it. Shortly after I lost to Geeta due to having nothing for glimora (Without goldengo I lost anileape to the Tera baxcalibur)

Since you mentioned in a previous video really liking Vespiquen, I thought I should let you know that you can actually get Vespiquen outbreaks in Scarlet/Violet. No idea about the odds, but if you use a bug encounter sandwich near an area they naturally spawn, it should increase your odds

So this is the story of my first shiny in pokemon Scarlet, i was hunting for like 6 hours and didn't get to find shiny pawniard i wanted, so kept going to progress on the main story. My first shiny in Pokemon Violet was a shiny Makuhita at the mines where u fight the Orthworm. I was about to kill pack of makuhita and hariyama when I notice the shiny Makuhita I manage to stop my Gyarados in time and caught it no problem without hitting it. Coz I always scared I do crit or one hit a shiny. So I just used a powerful pokeball and that how I got it. Really nice pokemon too as Hariyama is indeed one of the strongest fighting types. Also, my favorite leveling ground is a cave near the Psychic gym. Its packed with pokemon lv 39 includes Dugtrios, Toxitricty and Dragon types, I use both Gyarados my favorite pokemon and Bronzong now my favorite steel type that helped me grind all of my pokemon evolved and manage to catch every single pokemon in the cave. Includes Gible, Bagon, Salazzle and Umbreon. Just a really good place to grinding. I also love leveling at the False Dragon location as it lots of lv 50 pokemon and I like to grind those big whale pokemon coz they give each of my pokemon 1000 exp. So that my tip for everyone who just wish to evolve their favorite pokemon fast as possible.

Just finished my 1st shiny only run in pokemon crystal. Amazingly got a shiny tododile after only 35 minutes. Sadly to get my shiny eevee from bill it took me nearly a full 5 days! That's 120 hours! I evolved him into a espeon. Then impossibly found a shiny garyados in the lake of rage. Then reseted for a shiny dratini for 2 weeks, yes, 2 weeks!😢 After beating the elite 4 I got my shiny celebi in 8 hours. Finally I caught my final shiny in kanto, a shiny snorlax! And thats my full team, and my very best run in my favorite pokemon game from my childhood. I'm doing alpha sapphire next. I know im late for the giveaway but I'm still gonna say a story about my first shiny from SV. You always go down into area Zero to fight Turo or Sada myself i had the game for about 3 days at that point after it had instantly launched so i was hoping for shiny sounds so i never really paid attention but i had gotten lost in area zero looking around trying to find the right path to get down and in front of me a cyan glimmora appeared i was like "Wait Glimmora is purple since i completely stomped Geeta." So i encountered it and have had it ever since same with Torch my shiny Greavard who i got the day after.

My 1st shiny was a Shinx in Pearl many years ago. In Scarlet I found a shiny male Ralts within the 1st hr of the game. Since my starter was Quaxly I decided to do a mono fighting team for my 1st run through Paldea.

I thought this to be a normal psyduck until I told my best friend that "psyduck's blue colour really matches his water typing" he was so shocked I didn't get it out of him that I'd caught a shiny for about 10 minutes

My story is kinda funny. I was replaying scarlet and randomly decided "hey i kinda want to use a tauros" and i ran into one. And it just so happened to be shiny. Im currently playing through scarlet again but transfered the tauros to my violet file so hes safe. Thats the story of speve the tauros (my friend named him)

On the second point, I’m in the middle of recording the BDSP video but it is painfully slow going 😅 I estimate it’ll be deep into summer if not longer, so maybe around July/August? Good news is, once I’ve finished that one I’ve got a few planned that are shorter and easier to record, so content should become more regular again 😊

@@paradyzze1219 it’s pretty difficult yeah, at least compared to LGPE, PLA or SV! You can see 10+ Pokémon on screen within seconds in any of those games, but in BDSP it’s back to the old format of running around in the grass to find encounters or soft resetting which takes ages! As an example, I’m currently hunting Spiritomb which is a soft reset hunt, meaning I can only see 1 every 45 seconds 😅 Compare that to the open world games where you can see 25-50+ in 45 seconds and you can see why it takes so much longer!

I never used sandwiches until indego disk (since there are bbq's and a "challenge" that require it, other than for those I don't make them and still find a bunch of shinies, before any dlc had found at least 60 hoppip traded most away randomly since didn't need them) my 1st time play-thru only used starter and former titans, it was difficult

I was 10, pearl just came out, I wanted a green lil dude, picked my starter turtwig and got in the first battle. In legends arceus I spent two hours hunting a cherubi since it was one of my very few remaining mons to complete the game. I found two shiny’s before I could find a single cherubi!

Cherubi is a difficult one to find isn’t it, I only recently learned that it’s only in certain trees in certain areas 😭 I thought it was all of them so I wasted a fair amount of time looking for one! What shinies did you find?

I know the giveaway is long since over, and I prefer to hunt them on my own where I can anyway, but since you love hearing stories, I'll tell you about my first main-series shiny It was two years ago or so, and my best friend had gifted me a veritable treasure trove of pokemon games for the switch! She wanted both versions, but she didn't much fancy playing both to get all the exclusives, so she let me choose whichever versions I prefered. I delightedly accepted Let’s Go Eevee, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Scarlet At this point, I had already played LGE for quite some time and was ready to move on. I booted up Sword, and instantly fell in love. The story was dumb and the characters dumber, the writing atrocious and yet... I found myself enamored. The art style was so pretty, it was my first main-series game and it was so cool, moving around in the overworld! I had reached Turfield and wanted an Eevee for my team - just a regular old Eevee, because Eevee is my favourite gen 1 pokemon and my second fave overall (with my overall number one being Umbreon). Anyway, I was running around the fields, looking for my friend to be, doing my best to dodge those pesky Elektrike hunting me down. I wasn't always successful, and a couple got me. I failed to dodge another one, and then- I frowned. That's strange, I thought. The lighting turned weird, because the green little dog suddenly looked a little blue-ish. Then, the sparkles hit, and I gasped out loud. My first ever main-series shiny, and a full-odds one at that! I couldn't believe it! And as fate would have it, I had literally just taught my Pancham false swipe - and, I had five luxury balls to my name. Five precious luxury balls, scavenged somewhere or other. Five precious luxury balls that I knew would perfectly match a shiny Manectric. I switched to Pancham, and she used false swipe. I threw the first luxury ball, but no dice. I threw the second, and success! I was overjoyed, both with my treasure and getting to catch her in such a wonderfully matching ball! Excitedly, I texted my best friend, showing off my find! We spent ages excitedly chatting about her and what to name her, because such a perfect shiny surely needed a perfect name! It took several days and attempts before I finally settled on the name that stuck - Raija. My little lightning queen became a beloved part of my playthrough team, and I treasure her to this day! I'd apologise for the novel, but I *am* a hobbyist writer and you *did* ask for stories, so there you go! One of my favourite pokemon stories, and certainly one I will remember for years to come :)

well, it's not *that* interesting of a story but while searching for bisharp to evolve my own bisharp into kinggambit I ran into a shiny pawniard that had adamant nature and had the ability that evolves into supreme overlord, I named her glory and I always kept her in the back so that I could send her out as my last pokemon against the champion and sweep with the supreme overlord buff, she's now lvl 96 just cuz I used her that much!

I’m tellin a story of my first shiny I’ve ever gotten. I was a wee lad who was playing pokemon white (best gen, fight me) and I wanted a blitzle because I saw him in a trainer battle and I liked the little zebra, I walked into the grass on route 3 and the very first encounter I found a shiny lillipup. I was rather excited as one would be and caught it. Sadly, I was incapable of transferring him up as I lost my copy when I was moving. I got a new copy though and I’m currently hunting for a shiny lillipup again in an attempt to obtain it once more.
