I would say if you are a fan of Scrabble and have Pokemon fans in the family, this is a no-brainer. It's pretty cheap too.

Thanks for watching.

Aww, that's a cute game. It's clearly a win for your collection 😊 But the real question is; how many points is "ABNB" worth?!
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring21 күн бұрын
It's an illegal initialism, and therefore worthless. What a damning indictment.
@HivisoftheScale21 күн бұрын
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring booo! Do you mean it doesn't count as a word?? 😅
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring20 күн бұрын
Yea, it's not a valid word for Scrabble. Personally I think it should have some kind of instant-win special ability attached to it. But that's just me.

@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring new plan: Scrabble ABNB edition! 😁 Extra points for using Board Game names. Triple points for HeroQuest characters!

I need to talk to Mattel.

It does sound more interesting than regular Scrabble. You'd think games like that had more expansions, come to think of it. 😄

Coming soon from Mattel - the Punctuation Pack. Use all your favourite contractions. Finally, bamboozle your opponents with question marks. Can you end the game early with a full stop?

Doesn't look like it's available in the US, but was able to order from UK Amazon. My wife likes word games, but not competitive ones, so finding a rare co-op version is great.
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring21 күн бұрын
I never even thought to check US availability. I thought with it being a big brand, on a well-established game from a huge company it would be easy to get anywhere. Glad you managed to source one. I hope you really enjoy it.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring It's not available in the USA or Canada because the Scrabble brand belongs to Hasbro, and not Mattel, in those countries.
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring9 күн бұрын
@@ronaldwayne7092 Of course. Didn't even think of that. I know Hasbro and Mattel have licensing agreements to work together on certain branded products but that wouldn't cover Scrabble.

I like regular Scrabble well enough but the emphasis on two letter words and the positional fight over the bonus spaces means it really should only be played two player with people at roughly the same skill level. I'd definitely get something like this without the Pokemon theme to play with my mother.
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring20 күн бұрын
I have played this one with my elderly mother but Pokemon does raise a certain level of confusion and only my daughter plays using Pokemon-themed words. I don't think they make a version of this game with the theme stripped out. They do have a Star Wars Scrabble though, which appears to have completely different rules again and even has starship playing pieces.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Just looking at BGG and "Scrabble Together" sounds similar. Might be a de-theme?
@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring20 күн бұрын
Just looked at it and it’s exactly the same game without the theme. So sounds like it would be perfect for you.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring Doesn't seem to be available in the states right now but maybe it will come over!

Someone in the comments said it's the same situation for the Pokemon edition, which is surprising. With a big company like Mattel behind it, you would think it would be readily available everywhere. It only came out in 2024, so maybe it will get a wider distribution this year.
