When I was a kid I thought Torkoal was a Fire/Rock type and was the evolved form of Magcargo and I had a couple of friends who also liked Pokemon and agreed with me on this. It took me until 2014 to realize that Torkoal was a pure Fire type and Magcargo didn't evolve.

Just to add to the confusion on Golduck, "gold" is usually a color of the soul, which is kind of what the psychic type Pokemon are based on... Or... Something... I can't remember where I heard that from and I can't find it anywhere else. So basically Golduck is technically also named "psychic duck" despite it being not that.

The one that always gets me, that I see even popular Pokétubers continue to make, is the misconception that Seel is a water/ice Pokémon. I've seen enough lets-plays where people fear to send Seel out against a fighting type to leave me shaking my head still to this day. Also, I thought Glalie was an ice/steel type when I first saw it.

Totally agree about Butterfree. I used Butterfree as a "pseudo-psychic" in early-game battles, at least until I catch a true Psychic-type (and then I kept using it because the early-game Psychics were often too weak until I got their levels high enough). Always thought Stantler should be Psychic too, just based on its antlers, but oh well. Nice video!

Obviously this is before Sun/Moon came out, but uh, lot of confusing types introduced -Dhelmise is a Ghost/Grass type; I thought it would be ghost/water because you only find it in water and it's basically haunted shipwreck remains. -Solgaleo is a Psychic/Steel type. Obviously in my mind sun = fire and I assumed it to be a fire type. I can kinda see the steel typing in it but psychic I guess equates to powerful and/or celestial beings (see Cresselia, the Lake Guardians, Mew/two) -Midnight Lycanroc is a pure rock type, where I thought it would be rock/dark -Incineroar is a fire/dark type, everyone assumed it would be yet another fire/fighting. Apparently Incineroar is based off of a 'heel' in wrestling, which is basically a villain character (and dark type translates to 'evil type' in Japanese I think). Hence his buff appearance and access to fighting type moves. -Came out in Gen 6 but I'm still not sure why Zygarde is a ground type. Dragon kinda makes sense (especially since many legendaries have a dragon typing), but the ground not so much.

Gothtelle's line is just like a edgyer/darker version of Gardevoir's line. So since Gardevoir's line got the fairy type in 6th gen it would make sense for it to be a Dark/Psychic type

I always forget that Azurill isn't Water type. And I knew that Wormidam had different typings, but I didn't know that Burmy's change in appearance depending on where you battle was purely cosmetic. I have never once remembered that Stunky's line is Poison/Dark. Poison? Yes, but I never remember that second type. Deerling being Normal/Grass was a complete surprise to me when I finally decided to catch one (after going through Black, White, and Black 2 without one). Shelmet looks like a Bug/Steel

I'll admit that the first time I saw some of the Pokemon I thought otherwise, but upon first finding out their typings I never mistook their types, with 2 exceptions that both differ from those listed in the video. While I did at first think the same about Noctowl, Groudon, and Sudowoodo when I first saw them until I learned their actual types, I always mistake Lugia for Water/Psychic and Luxray for Normal/Electric. I also used to forget that Tropius is part flying and that Drapion isn't part ground (yeah, for awhile I thought it was Poison/Ground, until I battled a friend that used one and used a Psychic type to combat the Poison type, which was nullified by the Dark type)
