Great advice, at minimum people should be both buying and selling to establish their eBay user name and get experience. Selling isn’t a “switch” that you turn on when convenient. I’m pacing for 6k items sold this year and it’s a ton of work. IMO people who only buy, have a hoarding mentality, when you also sell you can curate your collection or actually profit from the price appreciation of your collection, I find with “sealed collecting” people count their profits yet they have never sold a booster box in their life.

100% …another bonus when selling on eBay are followers, you can build a great customer base with repeat buyers if you’re constantly selling.

Great video! I'm older and my son got me into Pokemon cards when he wanted the Mega Charizard from XY Flashfire. We opened over 100 packs chasing that dang Charizard and never pulled it. The same thing happened with Phantom Forces, we opened a bunch of packs chasing Gengar EX 114. We never pulled anything of much value but the chase was fun and real. I started investing in Pokemon in 2020 just like everyone else, but I wanted the old XY sets that we opened when we started collecting. Although the XY booster boxes were already expensive (so I thought at the time) so instead started looking for any cheap XY checklane or 3 pack blisters and sleeved packs. I tried to buy one of everything and our china cabinet now displays a beautiful sealed collection of XY packs, blisters and tins. As you say, "vintage modern" is a real thing, and the memories of that era are awesome for my kids and I.

They tell me to love what you collect then they tell me don't open the product but, then i'm like what i'm suppose to love collect boxes that i can't touch for years for some profit? Makes no sense to me. Why are we not doing stocks or bitcoins? I would say change it to open 50% of the sealed stuff you buy.

I always sell pokemon lots and add bonus cards to get my feedback up. I make no profit but I am doing it for feedback for 5-10 years later when I sell my heavy hitters like umbreon vmax alt arts and giratinas.

Having fun with it tip would serve all of us best for the long term - looking at my modest sealed collection definitely awakens some degenerate thoughts on opening something but then I just order myself a couple of packs of something modern to scratch that itch a bit :)

i opened 10-12 20th anniversary break boxes, 15 best of XY booster boxes 16 eevee heroes booster boxes... I hate myself, haahaha.... oh and like 25 boxes of gx all stars..... was chasing a god pack max I paid was 200 aud per box, but still...

Number 6 for me is, thoroughly inspect what you buy from ebay! Had a few resealed product that came my way, would be horrible to hold onto something and it goes up big in price and turns out to be tampered with!

Yeah my plan is to buy a case of booster boxes every set and open 2 for my binder, have 1 sealed in a case of my collection and the other 3 keep sealed to sell later on after a year i’ll have a lot of boxes already but i’m gonna do this for along time

Honestly, I don't understand why nobody is just selling singles for half a year and then taking that cash and going through a distributor to make a business out of it and really start making money.
