If you haven't seen it yet, ‪@PokeRev‬ just released his newest iteration of the mystery pack, PokeRev 5.0 Mystery packs. And these new Pokemon mystery packs have definitely had quite the controversy over the first week.

Even if you get a good tier for the bonus pack you still aren’t guaranteed a hit - buy what you like but know the risk. Love Rev seems like a genuine guy

Every time I want to buy a mystery pack, I watch openings of the exact pack I want to buy and them I'm convinced not to buy the mystery pack.

I'm pretty new to pokemon, about 3 months into it. I've bought 6 pokerev packs and got 2 silver, 2 red, and 2 green. Silvers were legendary treasures and plasma storm. Your basically paying $25 or so for a chance on a old/vintage packs. I'm buying more for sure

Its hilarious how crazy this blew up. They arent scams. The mystery packs are chances to chase the vintage packs. If you dont wanna do that or support poke rev, then dont buy them. But to say they are scams when hes not a scammer makes people look a little uneducated and just angry at his success. Hes a good dude.

Ive probably bought about 20 packs over the last year. I've pulled 3 gold, 2 silver and 3 or 4 red packs. I enjoy the pokerev packs , they're a fun rip

Pokerev seems like a cool guy and like you said, buying anyones mystery packs is just doubling down on the rng. I did always think it was weird for him to open his own packs tho. Its kind of like the CEO of a company winning a competition hosted by the company, just doesnt look good lol, like a conflict of interest

Didn’t think it was necessary for him to make a video explaining the increase in price. He has enough of a reputation to not have to make a 30 minute video explaining that his mystery packs aren’t a scam. He did make the video though so that was the right decision. I was wrong to think he shouldn’t. He’s the best to do it having the extra footage when he lost connection was smart everything he does in the space is smart and correct. He has the experience he has the following he’s just better at Pokemon KZbin than anyone. Creating Pokemon content without watching pokerev and learning from his experience would be like taking a test without ever opening a book.

I agree with your take 100%. Rev is probably my favorite streamer. Realbreakingnate being a close second. He has way too much to lose by scamming and manipulating these packs. He seems like a stand up guy, and I cannot take what people are saying about him seriously. The internet is a cesspool for complaining and brings out the worst in people. Do what you want, buy them or don’t. It’s your money and your gamble. Don’t try bringing down one of the best guys in the Pokémon space just because you don’t wanna pay an extra 8 bucks, or didn’t get lucky and pulled a green pack.

I bought a few pokerev 3.0 packs last year and got two vintage packs. Gym challenge and team rocket. Those packs didn’t have a holo but at least it was something promising.

Honestly I paused the video but here is my take. I think the PokeRev packs have gone downhill. So far I've seen the 5.0 mystery packs be dreadful. And I get it though. It's a gamble but they use to be better. At least they aren't misrepresenting them though. Some mystery packs from other sites that aren't from credible youtubers are false advertising and they send out pretty much garbage. At least the good youtubers expose those bad packs. It's why I don't buy those at all. I did buy PokeRev packs but the 3.0 version. I'm not really into the Scarlet & Violet Era except for Pokemon 151. But other than that set, I really not into the Scarlet & Violet sets. I got back in with Sword and Shield and I regret not stocking up on Evolving Skies and maybe that set is just so good but so scarce with hits but so rewarding when you do get hits. Anyway, I think the new 5.0 packs are so loaded with Green packs that hitting even Red is really tough. Just saw one if his friends on KZbin open up not 1 or 2 but 5 of those and they all had green packs. I saw another youtuber PokeCuz and he had all green. Small sample size but so far the green is way too often. But again, I think I've seen a small sample size so far.

The conversion and shipping make the rev packs like sub $100 which is just a bit of a risk I’m not willing to do anymore. Also mind you i had bought two of every version since 2.0 and never got anything but green. Burned too many times but still don’t find it a scam As well him pulling the rainbow to me , means one less rainbow for an actual person who buys a pack so that blows

People are ridiculous. I find it interesting that people throw their money away on mg holding mystery packs all the time. The odds they put those boxes are not true. At least with PokeRev packs, we have seen so many people pull silver and gold tier packs and I have seen a minimum of 3 vintage packs with holos! People just like to complain. I love what he does. He isn’t throwing his reputation away. All swsh and SV era packs are going up. Great video.

At almost $10 a pack its a bit much. And the whole "10:1 chance" etc is just a gimmick. You can buy 20 and get all greens. If I were to buy packs I'd just go to costco and scoop up a bunch of their stuff when the packs are around $2 a pack. I have even seen sales where its $9.99 for 9 packs. If you have enough disposable income you do you and buy stuff like this. I do and still wont buy them. $500 for 50 packs from Rev or $500 for 250 - 500 packs from Costco?

People who get them, or see someone else open one, and get a green pack or no hits from their packs very often them claim it’s undeniably a scam. The packs come from booster boxes, most of the time more than half a booster box doesn’t really have anything, that’s just how packs are. Reasonable odds to get solely from xy or earlier. I doubt they would claim it’s a scam of they pulled a rainbow or gold and got some wotc pack. Opening the vintage pack after that is your open decision so you have to own that. The real scams are the mj holdings boxes.

But I will say, just like Pokemon in investing circumstances, it’s a better gamble to buy these packs and win than buying a lottery ticket. You most likely won’t win the lottery in your life but you’ll probably win if you keep buying pokerev packs.

i liked to see rev pull a rainbow pack as it shows it is really out in his packs for people to buy instead of going with omega products or other companies that sell packs and stuff and claim a product is out and about but yet no1 ever made the claim they gotten the big hit or anything for those who do not like the fact that his products went up a bit do the math also include the fact he had to hire people to fill them as we all know rev did not do this himself or he would of known for sure what case let alone which packs are in which so it nice to see him open and get a good tier and now it great to see he open a rainbow tier. and as you stated this is a business so people got to learn people need to make some kind of money and it not like he selling mystery slabs and giving you a crap slab that worth 1$ to 10$ and charging you 200$ for it

I’m all about the mystery pack gamble, even though I never buy them. Does it hurt that the odds for the rainbow tier are slightly lower cause he opened one? Sure. But do we now feel that way any time he opens something over just the basic tier cause it reduces the odds? No way. I completely agree with you that the comments are misguided, but when people are struggling to pay rent the last thing they want is their one special outlet, gamble packs, to take a ding. I hear that. But it probably says something about even buying one in the first place Keep up the great content man!

I think these mystery packs are definitely better than the one you find at Walmart or other retailers! I would not buy them but I feel like all the names you said are very open and honest about their mystery bags, and really seem to care about making a good product, all odds considered.

The box was also a promotional box.. he isn’t selling the contents in it.. he already said he was going to give some away, do more videos, etc.. the only TINY issue, is if the numbers/percent do account for the promotional box.. then he kinda “screwed” the percentages of pulling certain packs by a very very small amount. Either way, until can prove otherwise, the odds are on his videos, on the website, on the packing materials, literally everywhere.. if you don’t think the odds meet your value criteria… then don’t buy them? It’s super easy lol

That’s not going to change the odds though, it’s still structured at 1:100. They usually do at least 10.000 packs in a run too so it’s only taken 1% of them at the most.

I like your content and agree with your views on it being a gamble. I dont agree with your comment on 5/6 packs for 58 dollar's a "steal". Its more of a discussion on whether its a moral thing to do promoting a heavier form of "gambling" and passing this mentality on to children.

I will say it is a business first for him. It is like every other repack out there. The majority of packs will have roughly 50% of the value. But I to them if you want. It’s the gamble. Is it a scam? I don’t think so but the odds are not good to get anything to get your money back.

Everyone has the choice to buy or not to buy. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Same as with who you choose or choose not to watch on KZbin. If you don’t like the content, don’t subscribe and don’t watch. It’s that simple. With Colin’s livestreams, I buy packs and products to rip on stream because I want to support the channel and have fun. Yes, it’s more expensive. I could buy stuff for cheaper, but it’s my way of supporting a content creator that I like. People who expect these creators to do things for free are ridiculous. People on the internet just love to whine and complain about things even if it doesn’t apply to them. Most just yap and don’t even offer constructive criticism. This is why I just block those people out and don’t take them seriously. Your supporters will usually outweigh the haters. Hopefully I didn’t rant too much lol

If you dont want to gamble. Just get out of the hobby please. Stop crying. You are gambling everytime you open a regular pack. You are gambling everytime you open a booster box. You are gambling everytime you open a collection box. You are gambling everytime you open an elite trainer box. Ive opened an etb of brilliant stars and got absolutely nothing. 1 rainbow trainer and 1 regular V. All cards worth about $15 total out of $39.99 plus tax. I guess i should be crying about getting scammed by the pokemon company.
