Recently it feels like everyone is talking about Poland!
It’s safe to say that Poland is making some serious moves in the world. With a stable diverse economy. A new interesting aim in technology, and a serious investment in military power.
Poland has gone from being a gray and poor place filled with war and invasion. And being pretty much erased from maps. To a nation that not only survived but thrived into a country others now look at with envy.
But how did this happen? And most importantly, what do you even know about Poland? The time has come to explore the “ins and outs” of this nation. So this. Is Poland Explained!

The explanation for the high death rate was ridiculous. On the chart you can clearly see it started to rise sharply around 2020. It's obvious it was the result of the pandemic. Many countries around the world reported a similar rise in deaths. Alcohol consumption in Poland is lower than in many other countries. According to 2023 statistics it is 19th on the list just above United Kingdom.
@SebJann
@SebJann Жыл бұрын
Yeah, this was a very strange explanation that is probably based on your racist stereotipes from the communist era about polish people being alcohol abusers. Times have changed and now Polish people consume the highest amount of alcohol free drinks in the world. Also, the majority of Gen Z considers alcohol to be unnecessary, and just don't drink it. Same with smoking. But I guess you just haven't researched anything other than some random article from 1998, which is fine... Ignorance is a thing. @CountiesExplained
@promeyko

There's also demographic structure to be blamed: after WW2 there was a child boom and this generetion is now simply getting very old so as they were dispropotionaly big part of population death rate is now higher.

Is it really that good? I would not say. Of course, the standard of living is better than before, but pensions and earnings in ordinary jobs are a nightmare. Many elderly people do not have a sufficient pension and do not have enough money for food or medicine. We have a shitty tax system, the population is falling, more and more people are leaving = there will be no one to pay pension contributions and retirees will live worse than now. You been a tourist and seen only nice places and did you know that over 2.3 million people do not have a toilet? We have beautiful cities, of course, lot of buildings are modern now but lot of no too, and if you have a good job or an idea for yourself, you have a good standard of living, it is easier to achieve something now. But it's not that great, I hope it will improve :) Thanks ofc But I wanted to make you aware that it's not so rosy and we have lot of other problems in our system, but Poland is still a nice country to visit or live in :) Regards !

Wow, just watched a bunch of movies about Poland recently, and this one? It's hands down the worst and most inaccurate. I mean, come on, the place names were totally butchered (a quick Google search could've fixed that, you dont have to be perfect but at least try, other people do that). And don't even get me started on all the errors and stereotypes - like the whole Vistula River thing (FYI, it's NOT shared with Ukraine and Belarus, at closest point it’s at least 200 km away from either). Oh, here's another f-up - the north of Poland is way less populated, even when you look at the whole country. Meanwhile, you missed mentioning Silesia, where a quarter of Poles live 🤦‍♂️ And let's talk about the drinking and smoking stereotypes - Poland's right in the middle of the European pack. It's not like we're the champs or anything. Would you say the same about the Germans, the French, or the Spanish, because they have similar stats? Honestly, I couldn't stomach watching more of this nonsense. My advice? Fact-check and stick to the real deal, not just opinions.

In 1939, the German and Soviet Russia invasions on Poland started WW II; this is a fact that should be loudly said to the public. 1 September, Germany and 17 September, Russia attacked Poland, not a single ally (ally on paper) lifted a finger back then. Russia, together with Germany, started WW II, this is a fact that was hidden only because, at the end of the war, Soviet Russia (not alone but with the help of other nations) beat Germany.

As pointed in some previous comments - the video has some mistakes, so it's recommended for you, Countries Explained, to consult the facts with some representatives or just simply citizens of the country before publication. A nice move would be to hire a speaker from the country you make material of as he/she will be able to pronounce all the names of people and places correctly (and we know Polish can be so tricky!). Overall though nice material, we are happy that you have good opinion about us and our country :-) Regards from Poland

Hi, You said the most people in Poland live in Gdańsk and Łódź.. Gdańsk is 6th polish city (by number of inhabitants) Maybe if You count Sopot and Gdynia.. but You didn’t mention about „Tricity” :) You didn’t mention Silesia Metropolitan area which is more than 2,5 million people You didn’t mention Wrocław - which is 3rd Polish city…bigger than Łódź or Gdańsk And Vistula doesn’t flow through other countries ;)

excatly what I wanted to say as well, its probably because most english resources about Poland is quite outdated. Some are still listing Lodz as 2nd largest city, which was a case over 20 years ago!

I'm polish, and tho this was a great video, i almost cried when i heard you spell the names 😭. I understand that it's hard from a different language's perspective, but from mine it's a really strange experience hearing someone spell these. I wanna have everyone understanding, that we DON'T have an eastern accent. Also, don't worry. Polish is placed as (i think) the 27th hardest language in the world, and it has come a long way since the millenium of history. Btw next year is the 1000th aniversary of the first polish king being crowned. Just a fun fact.
