As an American, I never really thought much about trains ... until I found this channel I appreciate all the nerdy details about the trains and the companies behind them. That's really neat

Thank you very much for your feedback! I'm very happy if my videos could spark some enthusiasm about the railway. Another rather nerdy production will be released later this week 😀 Christian from travelmentary TV

Central railway station in Warsaw also has underground connection to mall - Złote Tarasy like Kraków central.

That sounds very interesting !! I am Japanese, originally from Tokyo ,living in Los Angeles. We,Japanese have many shops & department stores connected to train stations in Tokyo !! Even some of 'em got underground grocery stores,supermarket in them !! Coffee shops / restaurants located underground in those department stores ,or malls are usually more affordable 😀 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

Great video and information. I can't wait to go on my holiday to Poland next year ... London - Brussels - Berlin - Warsaw - Krakow . I absolutely love train travel. Just did the sleeper train from London Euston to Inverness Scotland. Very adventurous 😁😁

Hi, thanks a lot for watching and your feedback! Sounds like a really cool railway adventure that you have in mind for your vacation! Scotland btw has been on my bucket list for a long time, that must be an impressive scenery from the train. Thanks again and I wish you happy trips :) Christian from travelmentary TV

Hello my fellow railway fans, here‘s another video! It has been quite some time since the last trip report, so maybe it’s not as smooth as usual, but I hope it still is enjoyable and informative :)

Unfortunately, they closed the premium lounges some years ago. I am not sure they were open to people who were just traveling First Class, however. I believe that on some trains between Warsaw and Kraków, there is a Business Class that would probably be called Executive Class elsewhere. I have taken it a few times. The compartments were indeed quite luxurious, with four comfy armchairs and either one long table or two shorter tables (it's been a while, so I don't remember off the top of my head which variant it was). At any rate, these were full tables (i.e. standing on the floor, not attached to the seats). A meal served at your seat was included in the price of the ticket. The lounge was definitely available to people traveling in this class. I am not sure about the others. There are also quite deluxe sleeper compartments on Polish overnight IC and EIC trains. They are small and simply furnished, but the beds are comfy and there is an ensuite bathroom and shower, as well as closet space to hang your clothes, WiFi, power outlets and USB ports. Continental breakfast is included in the price, and there is a dining car with pretty nice food (not included in the sleeper compartment price). I am pretty sure the lounges were open to people traveling in this class, but not sure about the others. That said, I think there are pretty nice-looking and comfy lounges available to everyone somewhere on the station premises in both Warsaw and Kraków. In Kraków, I believe that the lounge is part of the shopping mall that is connected directly to the train station. Escalators and elevators up to the platforms depart from this lounge area. There are also stairs and elevators departing from the station's underground corridors.

@@travelmentaryTV Now that I think about it, last time I checked, there was also a cafeteria in the old station building that had a lounge-like space where you could have your meal. The food was by and large pretty traditional,, but still tasty.

@@caraboska Thanks again for sharing your travel experience! You mean the old station building in Kraków?
@caraboska2 жыл бұрын
@@travelmentaryTV Yes, that is correct :)

@@travelmentaryTV Yes, that's correct. By the way, I have found a video on KZbin that shows various classes on a Polish EIC train, including the so-called przedział menadżerski, also called Strefa Wygody. Info about this manager's compartment or Comfort Zone is apparently not available in English, not even on the InterCity web site. So, have a look at the film. The part about the manager's compartment starts at ca. 2:37. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4vbc318fMiWf5Y

You can buy a full hot meal in the restaurant car on the train. There is a lot to chose from. It is not just for potato chips and soda.

one website sells First Class for 280 zloty at this time (Sept 2023), where did you buy your ticket? if online, which website? thanks.

it could be because of the departure time.

I have two remarks. 1. There is no sense to overpay for the 1st class when the 2nd class is so empty. 2. It's better to go to the buffet "Wars" car and order some breakfast or lunch. You will not regret. Take "żurek" and "schabowy". Fresh made. Very reasonable prices for such a quality. I always do on this way.

Hi, thanks for watching and your tip! I agree that 2nd class is good, too, I tried it on my way back! I will try those meals, when I return to Poland 🇵🇱

If you book a ticket in an advance like 3-4 weeks, the price for the 1st class is always 119zl and for the 2nd class 49zl.
