04:07 - The road going towards the city centre from here is quite buzzing during the evening time and there are many restaurants, souvenir shops, candy shops, and so on. I was here this August. Couldn’t spend much time in Krakow though, but got to see some interesting spots. Hope to visit this city and country a few more times.

Obwarzanek Krakowski was created a long time ago. It occurs in written sources from the 13th century. The dough is first steamed and then baked. The world-famous bagels also come from Krakow. The privilege of baking was given to Krakow's Jews in the 17th century by King Jan III Sobieski. Emigrants brought this bread to the USA in the 19th century. Not everything survived on Wawel Hill. Poland did not exist in the 19th century. Then many buildings were demolished and Austrian barracks were built.

An interesting fact is that in Krakow there is the oldest Jagiellonian University and one of the oldest existing ones in the world because it was founded in 1364 . There is also a second university in Krakow called the AGH University of Science and Technology . Students of the AGH University of Science and Technology have been at the forefront of the world for years when it comes to winning competitions organized by NASA . In 2023, AGH students won the European Rover Challenge . The Krakow park is called Planty and was built in the 19th century on the site of the former defensive walls, where some fragments were left . Krakow was an Austro-Hungarian stronghold during World War I (he didn't have to fight) and there are historic brick forts around Krakow . I live a 45-minute drive from Krakow south towards the Tatra Mountains and the border with Slovakia .
