POLAR NIGHT SNOW STORM | Svalbard, an island close to the North Pole

It didn't take long for this years first Polar Night snow storm to hit Longyearbyen, Svalbard. The winds it brought with it were crazy! Sit out the first snow storm with us in our cosy cabin, and let's go outside and see how bad it really is! 🤩

I love that type of weather. Nothing better than it being cold and nasty outside but you're all warm and cozy inside. Comfy pajamas and slippers, a fire going, a cup of coffee, a fuzzy fur baby, and maybe the aroma of some soup or stew cooking on the stove. Heaven.

Haha, I watched your video when I first woke up while still in bed. I was SO disoriented when I then got up and came out to find bright sunshine and warm temps here in the Nevada desert, USA. Good job Christoffer getting all those apples! That was a great price! And if he has just as good a way of preserving the strawberries as he does the apples, then I agree, he didn’t get enough. Somehow, I stumbled upon your channel earlier this week, and I cannot get enough of it. My husband watched the cabin tour with me -- and now he's into your content, too We love, love, love your cabin! And your views! Also the life you and Christoffer have created together, and the insights you let us all have into it. And of course, love your beautiful, sweet, and a little crazy, Grim. We have plans to spend a month in Sweden, Denmark and Norway (including up in Tromso, Hammerfest and Honningsvag) next winter during Polar Nights, so this gets us ready... One day, hope to also get to Svalbard. We live in the US, BTW, - in the hot, humid, tropical climate of South Florida (about an hour north of Miami).

There is nothing that beats the warmth and ambience of a wood fire. There is something soothing and comforting about it that no other heat source replicates. You guys look so cozy and comfy in your home. However, in my mind that is the attraction of living in a very cold place. Having a warm, cozy home to find refuge in from the harsh and bitter elements outside 🥶

Cecilia I have a book suggestion for you. The author is Robyn Mundy and the book is called Cold Coast set in Svalbard and is about the first female trapper in Svalbard and her story of life there in 1932. Sounds like an interesting read. Christopher had me in stitches laughing when he was outside in the snowstorm walking around😂

Matching bright orange marshmallows out in the snow 🧡 We go for a drive after a storm too, but to see the sand washed up the beach onto the roads, and to see the broken branches and fallen leaves. Such a different experience!

This gave me a rush of nostalgia for my son's old Karelian bear-hunting dog, a dear old soul who died two months ago. He was the sweetest dog, a polite gentleman. He only got to chase one bear, a black bear in Oregon, and was missing for days. He ran after several other big animals in his day and would be found miles away. I miss him so. Anyway, he LOVED weather like you're having. He liked curling up in snow drifts and going to sleep. All night, if possible. I am very partial to northern dogs. Well, Grim started all of this...💖
